17.01.2022 Happening this Saturday to assist small business in the Logan Community, come along and join Shannon Fentiman MP and ourselves. Patinos Personal Lawyers and Log...an House Fire Support Network are giving back to the local community by assisting small business to get through the COVID-19 crisis. Starting, 20th June, at 9am we will be giving away 100 meat pies to the first 100 people through the door at Meadowbrook Bakery, Meadowbrook Shopping Centre, Opposite Logan Hospital. Then we will be offering a further 20 meat pies a day for the first 20 people from Monday 22nd June to Friday 26th June. We will then be choosing a new bakery in Logan City every week for seven more weeks to give away 20 more meat pies a day for the first 20 people Monday to Friday. This is a great initiative to help small businesses recover and as it is winter we selected bakeries and meat pies because everyone loves a meat pie. We encourage the community to support this small business and all other businesses in Logan City. Let us know your favourite bakery in your area so we can look at possibly including them in the coming weeks. Police will allege the woman was a mon...ey mule who funnelled money through over 50 bank accounts before it was sent overseas. Seven victims have been identified so far. Police say their emails were hacked, fake invoices were sent to them, or real ones were intercepted and sent with the bank account details changed. The arrest coincides with national scams awareness week. www.7NEWS.com.au #7NEWS

10.01.2022 This week is Queensland Road Safety Week and together with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) were committing to putting road safety first. In 2019, 21 lives were lost, and 1,473 people were seriously injured on Queensland roads in crashes involving distracted drivers or riders. If youre travelling at 60km/h and take your eyes off the road for just two seconds, your vehicle will travel more than 33 metres. With the average persons reaction time around 1.8 sec...onds, this means nearly four seconds can pass before a driver reacts to a hazard! If youre driving distracted, you are putting yourself and others at serious risk. Distracted driving is caused by any activity that takes your attention off the road which could include taking your eyes off the road or your hands off the steering wheel. All types of distracted driving increase your risk of a car crash, major injury and even death. Mobile phones are one of the biggest distractors for drivers. Texting while driving is as dangerous as drink driving and can have serious consequences. The unexpected can happen at any time so eliminate distractions when youre out on the roads. Plan ahead and stay safe Activate the Do not disturb while driving feature on your smartphone before you get behind the wheel or on your motorcycle to help avoid using your phone. For more information, visit https://streetsmarts.initiatives.qld.gov.au//leave-your-ph. Queensland Road Safety Week is running from 24 28 August. Put road safety first and show your support by signing up for road safety: Think of a road safety message you want to share, then put it on a sign or create one using a TMR template. Take a photo of your sign, making sure we can read your road safety message. Share your photo! 08.01.2022 12 July 2020 Public health alert: Crossroads Hotel COVID-19 warning The Queensland Government has issued a public health alert urging Queenslanders who visited ...NSWs Crossroads Hotel between July 3 to July 10 inclusive, to get COVID-19 tested and isolate immediately. The busy Crossroads Hotel, located in the South Western Sydney suburb of Casula, is the hub for multiple COVID-19 cases. Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Steven Miles said the outbreak was concerning and he encouraged Queenslanders to respond appropriately. Any Queenslanders who have been to the Crossroads Hotel from July 3 to July 10 inclusive should get COVID-19 tested as soon as possible and then immediately self-isolate, said Mr Miles. The hotel is a busy stopover for many travellers, so it is very likely that there are a number of Queenslanders who have been there during this period. Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said NSW Health had set up a pop-up clinic in South Western Sydney where hundreds had been tested already. We have seen cases increase exponentially in the greater-Melbourne area and now there is a growing cluster in South West Sydney. Critically, we have also seen community transmission rapidly grow within just a few weeks, said Dr Young. It is important to remember that we are all in this together. The onus remains on our community to remember that the pandemic is far from over. We need to rapidly respond to outbreaks like this by testing and self-isolating. There are testing facilities right across the state including GPs, fever clinics and pop up clinics. To find your nearest location, visit: https://qld.health/TestingFeverClinics

01.01.2022 It has been confirmed that Queensland has two new cases of COVID-19 today. Both are 19-year-old women and BOTH are in Logan. The first case is a woman who tested positive after travelling interstate last week. She is an employee at Parklands Christian College on Brisbanes southside.... Queensland Health is working closely with the school which will temporarily close until further notice. The second case, another woman, is a travel companion. Both cases travelled interstate together last week. Contact tracing is underway on both cases. Anyone with symptoms, particularly people who have travelled interstate recently, should stay home and arrange to get tested immediately. Vigilance is key to keeping community transmission under control in our community. https://www.health.qld.gov.au//fever-respiratory-clinics-l
