24.01.2022 Goulburn Valley Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance as part of their ongoing investigation into a firearms incident in Shepp...arton in June. Investigators have been told two men were placing rubbish in a skip at a Bradford Road school when a small black hatchback drove past about 10.15am on 2 June. The car stopped and reversed towards the victims before a passenger in the car pointed what appeared to be a longarm firearm at the men. Both victims took cover when the saw the gun and the vehicle sped off southbound on Bradford Road then turned left, east onto Morrish Road. The gun was not discharged, and no one was injured as a result of the incident. Investigators have released a digital face image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries. They have also released an image of a weapon as well as CCTV of the black hatch, which is possibly a 2005 to 2010 model Honda Jazz fitted with a spare tyre on the rear passenger side The passenger was perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance, with a medium build, a black beard covering his jawline and was wearing a brown baseball cap. The driver was also perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance, with a solid build, black hair and a beard with no moustache. Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report at https://bit.ly/2Q8xlcH. See more

19.01.2022 RELEASE OF LATEST CRIME STATISTICS A Message from the Greater Shepparton Police Service Area Commander. Today the Victorian Crime Statistics Agency released the... latest crime figures for the last 12 months to 30 June 2020. It is an opportunity to reflect on community safety in Greater Shepparton. For this period we saw 8843 offences reported which is an increase of 0.4% for the same period to 30 June 2019. The reporting period reached across a traumatic time for Victorian communities managing bushfires and then the first wave of Covid-19. So while crime plateaued in the Greater Shepparton, the community was distracted by unsettling factors. One crime type that didn’t plateau was the theft from motor vehicles increasing from 576 to 738 crimes (28% increase). Wouldn’t it be great if we could live in an environment where we did not have to lock our vehicles or homes, however the stark reality is you should lock them. This is an opportunity for our entire community to contribute to community safety. If we can remove valuables and lock parked vehicles, we can drive down this criminal access to our vehicles. It is encouraging to see that the reports of family violence has decreased by 5.4% from 1703 to 1611 over this period. This trend is encouraging as family violence has been a significant focus. However together we still have much work to do; so if exposed to family violence please come forward. As a community we can work with perpetrators and affected family members to remove the impact of violence and abuse in our community. Our Community Connect project commenced on the 1st July, 2020, and our team has certainly been working hard at strengthening community partnerships out on the street. Be sure to say hello if you see them out and about. I encourage the entire Greater Shepparton community to feel empowered to improve safety. Collectively we can continue to make inroads in strengthening our community. 17.01.2022 Burglars hate thorny or prickly shrubs and plants! Growing spiky plants such a cacti, or Australian natives like native blackthorn, native raspberry or Mount B...lackwood holly under under your windows, can make your home even less appealing to thieves looking for somewhere to break in. Keep shrubs trimmed low enough so they don't block sightlines and would-be burglars have nowhere to hide. 01.01.2022 Hi everyone, My name is Flame and I have spent my career working for Victoria Police. A few weeks ago you may have heard about a significant investigation in ...Southern Metro Region called Operation Brandish. I was one of the many members that contributed to the outstanding results and subsequent arrests. I was able to use all my training and wonderful nose to sniff out some important property, cash and drugs related to the executed warrants. I couldn’t have done it without my fantastic handler, LSC WILSON, who has been by my side for everything. Sadly, I’ll be retiring later this year, but will always fondly remember my time at the Victoria Police Dog Squad. What a face! Good luck Flame, enjoy a long and relaxing retirement!
