25.01.2022 Shared from Berowra Community group: Warning The past 3 morning whilst on my walk I have encountered a tall male with dark hair, fair skin approx mid 4...0's in a white t-shirt and dark shorts running. He runs along Berowra Water's Road between Alan Road and The Highway on the even number side of the road approx.. 6.10-6.30am. He has now ran straight into me and my walking partner twice... Today he did so by coming up behind me quietly and knocking my shoulder as he passed us (we were at the water tower). This gave me a real fright and I called out to be careful. He stopped and turned to approach us, after I reminded him this is not the first time he has done this and to have some respect. He threw his hands in the air and thankfully ran off. He has not make any attempt to avoid us and seems to think the footpath is all his. Corona Virus or not this is not ok... its intimidating and bloody frightening since it is still dark. I doubt he is doing this to all the lovely gentleman and dog owners we pass while out walking. Apart from this it has been a nice experience to see many of the community out walking, practicing social distancing taking a wide passing/overtaking. Be careful as many other ladies and younger people out at that time also. Stay safe to all the lovely people in our community and lets keep supporting each other.

21.01.2022 Today we were contacted by a resident: Hi. In around January this year, I heard and saw a white Ute drive out from the under the Easement vacant lot of the Transgrid Power Lines on Excelsior where it meets Arthurs Circle in Mount Colah. I walked over to the Ute and he was exiting (small narrow area to exit as trees have grown) I said Hi to the driver. Young bloke around 27, caucasian, blonde light sandy hair colour, spoke VERY fast. I said is everything alright? He immediatel...y said that he was on his day off, inspecting a report that he heard come across the radio (!) that a tree was close to one of the 'Power Lines'. I'm now thinking that you're spinning me a story, there are zero trees at that height...long story short, as it was a 40+deg day, I had no sunglasses on and standing on the road in the heat, I asked him his name - as he said he worked for 'Ausgrid'. He said his name was Josh Jones. I said that the lines are not Power lines, and they are high tension supply lines carrying X amount of electricity - he then said "well yes, I said that because I thought you wouldn't know what High Tension power lines would be" ! I asked him had he seen the illegal dumping of Carpet that he possibly drove over?...He said he did. I said I was going to call the Council to see if they could remove it. Josh Jones then said 'Don't worry, I'll make a report and get it cleared for you" !! I noticed his Van had what could be described as a bright light Blue colour Water Tank's (plastic) on ute's tray. I would normally take a photo or number plate in my head, but such a hot day & i started to believe Josh Jones may well just arrange a clean up of the illegal dumping.!!....A little later I realised that the Lines are owned by Transgrid not Ausgrid...and the company Ausgrid (who he said he worked for) does not have a Josh Jones as an employee. Also the Illegal Dump is still there 8-9weeks later!! I believe Mr Jones was looking for a place (secluded) to utilise for Dumping! Wondering if anyone else in other areas of Seclusion, may have witnessed a white ute with the blue 'water tanks' on back, acting suspiciously? ... Thank you. See more

19.01.2022 Shared with permission from the Mt Colah/Kuring-gai Families group: Evening all, Just a word of warning, my car on Leeming Street was broken into early Friday ...Morning. Please be vigilant with your cars on the streets! I rang Hornsby Police and the officer informed me of no previous suspicious activity around the Mount Kuring-Gai/Mount Colah area as of late . If you notice anything suspicious please call Hornsby Police 9476 9799 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000. And in the comments: An old guy was caught inside a car and arrested on Easter Monday in Mt Colah and the same guy was caught on CCTV in Hornsby in July last year, Cowan in December and Berowra. He gave a false ID and is on the streets again. He gets into cars and takes what he can get, has been in film around 1am - 3:30am. Did he take anything? Thankfully no! All the doors were left open and it was obvious it had been searched thru. The guy caught Easter Monday and seen in all the other footage has been a pest in the area for months. He searches unlocked cars for loose change and anything else of interest, completely brazen in snooping around your property while you're asleep. He was caught red handed and arrested (we personally witnessed) only to be released and the police are now aware that in that instance he gave them a false name and address so will not face any consequences. Looks like he's wasted no time getting back into it! So sad that anyone from Hornsby Police told you there has been no suspicious activity as this is the opposite of the truth, they've fielded and supposedly investigated multiple complaints over the past year!

19.01.2022 Shared with permission from Mt Colah/Kuring-gai Families group: What a bloody low act! Someones dug up my rock orchid alongside my letterbox. It had at least ...6 lovely spikes coming! My orchids are a memento of my late father and having just lost my mum, the timing couldnt have been worse! They were going to look great and give pleasure to lots of people walking by! I hope Karma pays them a big visit! It also happened up the street - seems there an orchid thief in our midst

16.01.2022 Week in Review... * This week a 30 year old male from Pymble attended Hornsby Westfield shopping centre and entered a chemist where he demanded prescription me...dicine from staff. The male was armed with a knife at the time and upon receiving the medication has left the store and entered the mens toilets. Police apprehended the male shortly after where he was arrested and charged. He has been charged with Robbery armed with offensive weapon and Malicious damage. He is bail refused and will appear before the court in August. * An 18 year male from Sylvania and a 14 year old youth from Wheeler Heights were arrested this week for their involvement in a break and enter offence at Killara. The two males have entered a residential property and accessed the inside of the premises via an open window. Once inside they were confronted by the occupants at which point they have fled. Police attended and utilising a police dog tracked them to a nearby property where they were found hiding in a garage. They were both arrested and charged with multiple offences. * A 54 year old male from Cobar was stopped in his vehicle north bound on the M1 at Mount Colah for a road side breath test which returned a negative result. He was then subjected to an oral fluid test which returned a positive result for methamphetamine. Police commenced a search of the vehicle locating a substance believed to be methylamphetamine in a clear plastic bag. They also located a set of electronic scales and six rounds of high calibre rifle ammunition. The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with Possess and Supply prohibited drug, Possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit and Acquire ammunition subject to prohibition order. He has been refused bail till he appears at court later in the month. * A 17 year old male from Thornleigh was charged this week with a break and enter at a business premises on Pennant Hills Rd, Thornleigh that occurred in March this year. The male has entered the premises causing damage to the door and stealing various items of property from inside. He has left behind a set of fingerprints which consequently led to his identification. He has been charged with Break, enter & steal and will face court later in the year. * In recent times there have been a couple of individuals frequenting the Ku-ring-gai area attempting to gain unsolicited work from elderly residents. Typically they approach residents claiming they are there to fix roof tiles or lop tree branches. Often they will carry out little to no work and charge large sums for the work carried out. On occasion if the resident has no money at hand they will drive them to local banks so they can obtain cash cheques. Please be aware of these individuals that may show up in your area and inform your elderly neighbours, friends and family of their MO. Report any suspicious behaviour including registration numbers to Hornsby Police 9476-9799 or Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000. Information you provide will be treated int he strictest of confidence. We remind people they should not report crime information via our social media pages.

12.01.2022 Crime Stats for Mt Colah for Dec 2019 and Jan 2020

11.01.2022 ** URGENT - Dont EAT - Dangerous ** Kmart Australia - own brand chocolate Easter Eggs. My wife purchased these chocolate Easter Eggs from K-Mart Hornsby, NSW ...last Saturday. They were opened for the kids to eat on Wednesday afternoon. Yesterday (Thursday) lunchtime my son opened a sealed egg and when he started to chew, encased inside was this foreign object. He is 14 and thankfully not injured. I have a six year old daughter and Im thankful it was not her as the consequences could have been much worse. I tried to contact Hornsby K-Mart and was unable to speak to staff on hold for 30 minutes. I contacted K-Mart Head Office and spoke to customer support and then a supervisor. I was told an email would be urgently sent to me, so in turn I could send through further details and the photos allowing K-Mart the fair opportunity to take action, rather than cause a social media calamity. The manager told me an investigation team would immediately take action thereafter. No email was received, no return phone call, nothing. I sent K-Mart an urgent email last night and silence from their end remains. In respects to this object, I think it is hardened plastic, but could be wrong. Two points concern me that this may be on a sinister level rather than accident at the manufacturing plant. 1. The object fit perfectly to size, encased inside the egg. Nothing protruding. 2. The object is highly dangerous, the hook at the end is no less sharp than a fishing hook. The underside is also somewhat serrated. Please share this post as an object like this could kill if lodged in the throat. Especially a young child. 09.01.2022 Shared with permission from the Mt Colah/Kuring-gai Families group: Hi all, just had a bit of an odd experience with what I thought was a parcel deliverer and w...anted to alert others to keep an eye out. My pup likes to hang out in our front yard keeping tabs on the street (Parklands Rd), and hangs over our front fence to do so. I have perfect view of him from my work-from-home station and I just watched what I thought was a parcel deliverer pull up in an unmarked white van and a fella with face mask, gloves and yellow fluro shirt on got out and started patting the dog over the fence and unbolting our front gate. I still thought he had a parcel so headed out to restrain the dog. As soon as I opened the door and called out to the dog, this fella backed away quickly, jumped back in the van and drove off, with another passenger in the van. It is possible he was just stopping to stay hello to the dog and was a bit awkward, but not sure why hed come into my front yard to do so and so sadly suspect he may have been thinking about taking the dog. Unfortunately I didnt get rego as I was too slow in registering what was going on. Wanted to let others know! See more
