23.01.2022 SCAM ALERT We've received a significant number of reports of scam callers claiming to be from the AFP. Scammers are advising victims their identity has b...een stolen or breached. They are then pressured to urgently transfer whatever money is in their bank account to another bank account provided by the scammer, or onto gift cards. The AFP will never call you and make you transfer money to a bank account or onto gift cards. These scammers use fear and confusion to trick you. Do not follow their instructions or keep them on the line. If you are contacted by a scammer, please terminate the call immediately and report the matter via the Scamwatch website: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam

05.01.2022 Recognise this trio? Police are investigating a burglary at a building site in Laverton last month. Three males stole various building materials from a residential construction site. Crime Stoppers - 1800 333 000

05.01.2022 Great news that both these people have been found safe and well.

04.01.2022 'Working with Victoria Police, Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 is encouraging people to safeguard their community by reporting criminals involved in suspicious burglary activity. The most common residential burglary is the creep-in style burglary where an offender will enter a property without being detected by the residents inside. Although these offenders are likely to move on if a silent entry is not achievable, if the offender is armed and startled, this could result in se...rious harm against the victim. With unlocked doors the most common point of entry in aggravated burglary offences, it is extremely important to lock up and secure the windows and doors to your property. Keep in mind, locking up is never a guarantee. Criminals see imaginary dollar signs on everything and may not be deterred from your home despite security and locked doors. If an offender enters your home, they will likely be looking for cash, credit cards and keys especially car keys. Besides locking up your home, ensure valuables are not displayed or visible in your home offenders will take whatever they can find, even your car parked in the driveway! Aggravated burglary offending is when someone breaks into a home while a person(s) is present. It is a public safety concern that can often lead to other incidents including thefts of motor vehicles, family violence, and sometimes violence towards the victim.'

04.01.2022 'We want to ensure victims that we continue to respond to family violence matters as a priority and there are ways to seek help >> https://bit.ly/39q7jfZ'

03.01.2022 Motorcycle owners are advised to park their bikes safely and securely following a spate of motorcycle thefts this month. Intel suggests that the thefts are bein...g committed in the evening after 8PM, with the motorcycles being predominately stolen from outside residential addresses, in the street, the carport or the driveway. Police will continue to investigate these incidents and hold offenders to account, however there are some steps you can follow to keep your motorcycle safe. Park wisely When commuting, park in well-lit areas and use designated motorcycle parking areas and anchorage points where possible. Most motorcycles are stolen from residential locations. When at home, try to park behind lockable gates or in a locked garage and, importantly, secure your bike by locking it to an immovable object or anchorage. Use a motorcycle cover to conceal your bike few will risk blind theft. Secure your bike Make sure your motorcycle is insured. Always secure your motorcycle using the steering lock. Also use a manual locking device such as a disc lock, U-Lock or chain and padlock. A high tensile chain and matching security lock through the rear wheel or frame of the bike and secured to railings or a convenient lamp post will deter an opportunistic thief. Invest in a good alarm to go with your lock dont let your bike go quietly. Consider installing an engine immobiliser to ensure the bike cannot be driven away. Be sure to record the motorcycles VIN - a 17 digit number that uniquely identifies that bike so that if your bike does happen to be stolen, you can report it to police. Doing so you will increase the chances of your motorcycle being recovered in the case of it being stolen. If you have been a victim of theft, call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444. If you require immediate police attendance or witness suspicious activity, call Triple Zero (000). See more
