05.02.2022 Hi everyone, just a reminder that Schools are back and Tasmania Police will be out looking for those that do not adhere to the "40 SCHOOL ZONE " Oh and if you are at a crossing why not give your SCPO (School Crossing Patrol Officer) a quick wave. Rain hail or shine they are out there looking after the kids.
31.01.2022 The best thing about Tassie is how agencies, local groups and the community work together. Some interesting facts here from our friends at Tasmania Police and Crime Stoppers Tasmania
25.01.2022 Watch out for targeted scams like this! To avoid falling victim to invoice hacking scams, contact suppliers to confirm the correct account details before transferring large amounts of money. Especially if you have received an email from the supplier saying their account details have changed.
24.01.2022 Coming Soon - Cuppa with a Cop in Oakdowns. Save the time & date. You are invited!
24.01.2022 Scanning QR codes is a common COVID check-in ritual. But it creates new ways for your personal information to be misused. Protect your privacy and confirm how your information will be used before you scan.
23.01.2022 In 2020 we are asking all our members to at least Do One Thing for their community. Our COVID-19 Mantra is: Stay Connected; Share Information and Stay Safe. Coronavirus can be spread by droplets from coughs & sneezes. Studies have found that a sneeze can project droplets up to eight metres at 200 kph. Covering coughs and sneezes is good personal hygiene and protects others!
23.01.2022 Tasmania Police need your help, Have you seen Mr Anthony Goodyer.
21.01.2022 Keep your car safe. POP. LOCK. STOP!
20.01.2022 Having a well-lit property with a sensor light can help discourage someone from breaking in. Also, using timed lights for inside your home can make it look like you are still there. To see what else you can do to make your home more secure, visit www.howsafeismyplace.com.au and complete the free home security self-assessment. #HowSafeIsMyPlace
19.01.2022 If you ever thought it was safe not to lock the upstairs windows and doors - this video shows just how accessible any building is!! Use this knowledge to your advantage.
19.01.2022 Good Neighbours Create Safer Communities Neighbourhood Watch exists to support our police reduce crime, improve public safety and foster good community relationships. We think the mantra "Good Neighbours Create Safer Communities'' is where we all want to be. The high tide will wash this drawing from the sand but the worth of neighbourliness will be preserved the more we embrace it.
19.01.2022 Thanks to Commissioner Darren Hine and his officers from Tasmania Police for helping to launch Neighbourhood Watch Week in Tasmania with a snappy 'Cuppa with a Cop' event on Friday.

17.01.2022 Do you know all motorists must slow to 40km/h when passing a stationary or slow moving emergency vehicle with lights flashing? When passing an emergency vehicl...e with lights flashing, all motorists must: > slow to 40km/h (in all speed zones and in both directions unless there is a dividing barrier between you and the emergency vehicle) > give way to emergency workers who are on foot in the immediate vicinity of the emergency vehicle, and > only increase speed when a safe distance from the scene. For further information see: https://www.rsac.tas.gov.au/slow-down-for-emergency-vehicles
16.01.2022 The Good and The Bad These two photos were taken on Mother’s Day at Bellerive Beach, a little over 100 metres apart. The sand art is by Rastaman who provides a positive message each day when the tide is out. He Does One Thing that unites passers-by in conversation and an appreciation of our community and all that is good about it. The burnt-out car reminds us we can at least Do One Thing help to prevent crime happening. Share this image to remind everyone in our network ...the importance of checking that our car is locked, no property is visible inside and it is parked off the street. These simple steps reduce the opportunity for theft and the likelihood of being a victim. Bad things do happen. However, at Neighbourhood Watch we are about looking out for each other to ensure the good things in our communities far outweigh the bad.
15.01.2022 This is a simple initiative that can make a world of difference if help is required.
13.01.2022 A really good online safety tip from Neighbourhood Watch NT
13.01.2022 Continuing the Neighbourhood Watch Journey! The photo on the left you saw recently, courtesy of The Mercury Newspaper. It is the earliest photographic record of when Neighbourhood Watch started in Tasmania in 1986 with the raising of our first street sign in Risdon Vale. The photo on the right was taken on Friday, 5 June 20, at the official signing of our renewed Memorandum of Understanding with Tasmania Police. The MOU is a fundamental document because it ratifies our leg...itimacy as a partner of Tasmania Police and perhaps more importantly, the respect in which we are held by the police service. Throughout our history we have held a unique position and role in our communities. The MOU reaffirms our authorised access to relevant police information (specifically crime reports) and importantly the ongoing support of the Community Policing Officers across the state. It is gratifying that Tasmania Police continue to have confidence in Neighbourhood Watch and appreciate the complementary work we do in our communities. Good Neighbours Create Safer Communities.

10.01.2022 Thanks Rastaman As the winter approaches, the high tides may impact on the daily quotes on Bellerive Beach. For those who have not had the pleasure of chatting with Mark in his early creative hours - here are a couple more thoughts to help you through your day. You must find joy in your life! ... Be humble, stay kind and smile it’s free! If the thoughts don't do it for you - his photo probably will!! Good Neighbours are Everywhere!
10.01.2022 Sometimes the simplest of gestures can uplift our spirits and create the opportunity to appreciate everything that is good about our lives. These positive messages have been appearing daily on the Bellerive Beach and are appreciated by many. There are numerous ways we can connect and make a difference in other peoples’ lives - many of them are free!
10.01.2022 A rare opportunity. Exceptional presenters. If you really want to make a difference - make this once-only effort to be there.

09.01.2022 If you've got a shed please ensure it’s secure - thieves are often opportunistic and will steal items left unlocked and unsecured.
09.01.2022 Scam Alert from Tasmania Police: Police are reminding people to be wary when shopping online after several Tasmanians have been scammed purchasing vehicles totalling over $100,000. It’s timely to remind all Tasmanians to be wary for scams when shopping online - if something... seems too good to be true or suspicious, it probably is, said Detective Sergeant Paul Turner. The majority of the scam vehicles were advertised on social media and online buy and sell platforms, often advertised for lower than its actual value. If you are considering purchasing a vehicle advertised online and the seller claims you need to make online payment before you can inspect or physically take ownership of the vehicle stop immediately, it’s likely a scam. Anyone who thinks they are the victim of a scam can contact www.cyber.gov.au Further information on scams is available at scamwatch.gov.au Advice for potential buyers on all retail type scams: If the advertised price of a vehicle seems too good to be true, it probably is. If you have any doubts, don't go ahead with the purchase. Don’t trust the legitimacy of an ad just because it appears in a reputable newspaper or classifieds website scammers post fake ads in these too. Do an internet search using the exact wording in the ad, many well-known scams can be found this way. Do as many checks as you can to ensure the legitimacy of the advertisement. Never trust a seller or buyer who says that the transaction is guaranteed by social media or an online buy and sell platform. These sites explicitly do not guarantee that people using their services are legitimate. For expensive physical goods, the safest option is to only pay the seller after you have inspected the goods in person. Similarly, do not pay a deposit or any partial payments before you have inspected an item. Avoid any arrangement with a stranger that asks for payment via money order, wire transfer, international funds transfer, pre-loaded card or electronic currency. It’s extremely difficult for authorities to recover money sent this way. Beware of sellers or buyers who want to conclude a transaction as quickly as possible. Scammers want to get your money before you have time to think or have a professional examine the deal. Call the buyer or seller to establish phone contact. If the buyer or seller seems to neglect details agreed to via e-mail or is unable to answer questions about their location or the location of the vehicle in question, it is likely to be a scam. If the number in the ad is disconnected, be wary. If the buyer/seller says it is disconnected because they are overseas, ask for a landline phone number at their current location, as well as a mobile phone number. If they give you a street address, check online street imagery to view what is actually at that address.
09.01.2022 Over the past three nights, 15 car burglaries have been reported to Tasmania Police on Hobart’s eastern shore. Assorted property stolen included wallets and money. Most of the vehicles were unlocked which makes it easy for opportunistic thieves. Help prevent this in your street. What can I do?... - You can do something. - Wind up all windows and lock all doors. - Don’t leave any valuables in sight. - If you can’t lock your car in a garage, park it off the street or in a well-lit area at night. - If you have any information phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

03.01.2022 SCAM ALERT We’ve been alerted to a scam email pretending to be from the AFP. Before you panic, there are a few telltale signs here. Firstly, the incor...rect email address. Secondly, if you were being investigated by the AFP we probably wouldn’t email you to tell you and sign off Forcibly. We don’t even like it when we get a pass-agg Regards.
