18.01.2022 Nia: The really DIFFERENT Fitness Technique - in MALENY MONDAYS 5.30- 6.45pm @ Maleny Community Centre FRIDAYS 9.15 - 10.30am @ Presbyterian Hall,12 Cedar St Th...e music came on and there was a soft, ethereal beginning. A warm up that allowed me to slowly come into the class, breathe, connect to my body. I was beginning to wonder if I was going to get a work out but then it kicked in. The music was amazing! We were stepping and swaying and turning and kicking. We shimmied and circled our hips. We did a cross front, cha cha cha followed by a 3 step turn and a clap. We rarely stayed in one place. We were dancing and I was sweating! Then came moments of real intensity with kicks and punches and some yelling all mixed with what felt like a very natural form of movement. I wasn’t going against the grain. I wasn’t watching the clock. I was in a flow, a zone. My zone. Jackie Thai Next week will be the 10th Nia class I've done. Truly, madly, deeply this is the best and most joyous exercise I've ever done. Thank you Sharon Lockman for bringing #nia to Maleny! Rachel Fentiman
