24.01.2022 So how cool does Leah look all framed up? I think this frame is absolutely perfect for her. Thank you for sharing the photo Sandra and what a talented husband you have. She looks awesome
23.01.2022 Last progress shot I reckon until my Charl is complete. With the greatest of respect to my darling boy, I don't think anyone will be more happy than me to get him finished . I have to say I've been extremely sporadic with painting him though which has me changing my approach each time I sit in front of him. Lots to do on this bigger canvas but my eye is well and truly hooked in now, as I can see his skull formation developing. Moving onto his body and collar tomorrow and then all over blending x
23.01.2022 No longer an Adelaide Crow, this crow has had a facelift! I'm personally glad about getting rid of the stripes and the branding which can give a painting limitations when coming to sell. I reckon the crow's happy to be free too!
21.01.2022 It's been a long time coming but I believe I've finally finished the painting of our gorgeous late boy Charley. It's not like me to do a bit of a story, but I do have one to share with this particular portrait. I always said that I didn't want to be painting Charley once he had died. It is something I get asked a lot to do once a family pet has passed away. It's something I am completely honoured to do, but something that is also very emotional when you stare into the subj...ects eyes, knowing they are no longer with their family. You feel the heartache and truly want to capture their personality in the painting and do them justice. So when I first started Charley's painting, we had no idea that within a month he would no longer be with us. He passed away early December due to a large cancerous tumor and I was left suddenly in the position that I vowed I wouldn't put myself in. Of course it was too painful to continue his half finished portrait at that time. Just looking at his face staring back at me from the easel would get me crying again. I've had so many stop/starts with his portrait for one reason or another. Maybe the moment when I concentrated on not shedding a tear whenever I faced him, was when I got the determination to finish him. Not only was it emotional, but my boys and hubby decided they wanted a bigger than usual portrait of him from a photograph that didn't reveal the detail to that scale! Anyhow, through pure determination and my will to never give up on him, I believe I have done him proud. We still love you dearly Charley and will cherish looking up at your portrait, knowing you are always in our thoughts. xx
19.01.2022 I'm rather enjoying doing smaller work for a change. It's very therapeutic and much quicker to achieve. I may even do a few mini framed editions.....watch this space

16.01.2022 A recap on a commission. This painting I created with a comical twist on three adorable whippets. Upon meeting these characters, I was very surprised I didn't smuggle them into my handbag and take them home Loved 'em . . . .... . #caninelove #canineart #dogsofinstagram #canineartist #fineart #instaart #whippetsofinstagram #whippet #whippetlife #whippetlove #whippetcorner #dogart #adelaidehills #southaustralianartists #dogloversofinstagram #doglove #itsadogslife #dog #bluethumbartist #portraiture #familypet See more

13.01.2022 LOOKING FOR MODELS! I had a bit of a play today with something a little more illustrative, using my very own Monty as a model. I may need to order some of these for myself My intention is to cover multiple breeds, so if you'd like your dog to be considered as a model as part of a series of illustrations, please send me a photo of your pup in a sit position 'from behind' as my Monty below TIP: the key to getting the right photo is to be at ground level with your pooch

12.01.2022 So now that Leah has been officially handed over, I can now share the finished painting with all of you wonderful people, along with a few progress shots. Leah is my first Cavoodle and I'd be lying if I didn't do a silent 'gulp' when I was reminded of all of her curls. I knew however, they would make for a good painting if I could master them. I am pleased to say that although they were challenging, not once did I have a moment of 'I can't do this', as she behaved herse...lf perfectly all the way through. She's was a very good girl! I knew she was finished when any additional strokes were making no difference to the overall painting and it was time to stop messing! I hope you all likey and I hope Sandra Brokensha that I have done your baby girl justice and that you and Paul enjoy having her painting on one of your many walls!! Please feel free to share everyone x
11.01.2022 The beginnings of a new portait. Sandra, Leah has told me I'd better pull my socks up and get started on her cuz she knows I have others commissions waiting! Early days, but she has been started.
