Clean with detergent This kills some microorganisms but is mainly done to reduce the soil load where things live.... 2. Sanitise Making sanitary by cleaning and possibly applying some form of antimicrobial treatment. 3 Disinfect Usually certified to kill organisms to 99.9%. 4. Sterilise Absence of all microorganisms. Typically achieved by cleaning first then using autoclave to well above boiling point.
