25.01.2022 KEEP SAFE, KEEP SMILING Introducing our first attempt at social distance banding. Our performance standards here won’t win any contests for sure, but we'...re not bothered as long as it helps bring a smile to people’s faces during this worrying time. We plan to do more of these in the coming weeks and months, and at some stage will be seeking musicians from other bands to join with us. We might even invite a virtual guest conductor too. 16.01.2022 Hi everyone! It's coming to the end of the year and I've been crazy busy with a few exams, finishing grade 10, working, soccer and completing my Grade 7 Trombone exam.......I can Proudly say I Obtained an A......bring on Grade 8 I wanted to present something a little different to what I've been doing to finish this crappy year off with a bang.... I asked a good friend of mine Chelsea Dean if she would like to do a piece with me.....and I think it worked a treat......Enjoy!
14.01.2022 So usually, Easter Monday night would see most of us heading home from a wonderful long weekend of banding. However, this Easter we all had to stay at home and... miss attending the Australian National Band Championships in Perth. If it had been on, you would have read in the souvenir program, visited us at the National 2021 stall in the trade hall, or even heard it announced during results presentations that the Band Association of NSW invites you all to the wonderful City of Newcastle on April 2 - 5, 2021 for next years 2021 Australian National Band Championships. 14.01.2022 **Solo Competition Launch!! In these times of isolation we've decided to launch the Brass Music Store Solo Competition. The competition is split into 4 classes;... 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under and the open class. Each class has it's own specially written piece which are all available to download for free from www.brassmusicstore.com . The competition is free to enter and closes on April 30th and we're delighted to say that the competition will be judged by virtuoso euphonium soloist Steve Mead and the winner in each class will get a lesson with Steve. To enter just email a video of your performance to [email protected] before the end of April and include your name and age in the video. S...o, we thought we’d play something to wake you up and get you go-go-going. This has been the toughest distance banding project we’ve done so far as we’d never played this piece before. We’re sure it shows in places but we’re not bothered though as long as it makes you smile . This 80s mega hit from legendary pop duo Wham is arranged here by our Musical Director, Philip Harper.
