18.01.2022 A cabinet maker has proven that kindness is alive and well after he created and donated wooden toy kits to a school dealing with a tough situation. Frances Prim...ary School had to adapt to a unique situation after the border closure was announced earlier this month. The closure meant that half of the students couldnt attend their South Australian school because they resided in Victoria. But thats when Naracoorte cabinet maker Jordan stepped in. Without being asked, and by using his own money, time and resources, Jordan spent his weekend creating and assembling wooden toy kits to donate to the school. It meant that the kids could take part in practical learning remotely. As you can see, the children benefited greatly from this random act of kindness. On behalf of the Department, the students and the teachers, THANK YOU Jordan.

15.01.2022 This is great news for our Cross-Border Community Members. From Friday - the 40 km travel buffer between SA/Vic will be re-instated.(As long as the situation doesnt worsen) This means that residents will be able to cross the border for their work, education, food, fuel, medical care or supplies, or providing or receiving care and support... Private gatherings will go back to a 50 person limit.

14.01.2022 Applications are now open for the Federal Governments $25,000 HomeBuilder grant. First new home buyers in South Australia will be eligible for up to $40,000 in grants towards their new home build, including the existing $15,000 State Government incentive. The scheme will give a leg-up for many South Australians who are looking to build a new home or substantially renovate their existing property.... Most importantly, it is a welcome shot in the arm for the housing and construction sector. For more information about eligibility and to download the application form visit: www.revenuesa.sa.gov.au/HomeBuilder

14.01.2022 There is no doubt our Cross Border Community members are facing a huge challenge with the tightening of restrictions. I am, and will continue to advocate for our Cross Border Community members, who, while divided by the border, I know - call South Australia home. It will be particularly difficult for these people who will no longer be able to go to work, do their shopping, or send their children to school across the border in South Australia. I can assure you - I have commu...nicated the complicated reality of these changes to both SA Health and Police. I have never wanted to see our Cross-Border Community members pushed further into Victoria for their daily lives. It will impact on them emotionally and socially. It will impact economically on many regional South Australian businesses who provide goods and services to this community. However, there are real fears that this virus could spread into South Australia. I have had discussions with SA Police and they are hopeful that these new restrictions will be in place for the relatively short timeframe of 3 - 4 weeks. Please - if you have any questions, feel free to contact my office on 8762 1211 or at [email protected] We are all in this together.

14.01.2022 South Australia wont re-open its borders to Victoria on July 20 as previously announced. The Premier Steven Marshall says the decision is based on coronavirus ...outbreaks in Victoria. The states transition committee is still considering re-opening the borders to the ACT and New South Wales sooner and will provide an update later this week. The state has already opened its borders to Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Tasmania and Queensland. South Australia recorded three new cases of coronavirus yesterday the first cases in more than a month. All three cases were people repatriated from overseas and are in hotel quarantine.

14.01.2022 Almost one million Australians served in the second World War. It was an absolute honour to meet two veterans, Brian Nankivell and Victor Dawson at the Robe RSL and present them with a certificate to commemorate the end of the largest global conflict of the 20th Century. We thank you. .

14.01.2022 South Australias border restrictions with NSW and ACT will remain in place until further notice. The super spreader event which has occurred at the Cross Roa...ds Hotel on the Hume Highway is of great concern and we are closely monitoring the situation. I appreciate that todays decision will be difficult for those with family and loved ones living in NSW or the ACT, and we will continue to keep people informed about these border restrictions.
