24.01.2022 Scott Morrison doesn't want anyone held to account for robodebt because the person responsible for robodebt is Scott Morrison.

24.01.2022 For the first time in 25 years, pensioners wont see an increase in their payments. The pension will not be indexed until March 2021. Once again the Liberals have left behind the most vulnerable people in our society during one of the most difficult periods in our history.

23.01.2022 South Australia would be the first jurisdiction to introduce such a tax, that will include a fixed tax for all electric cars and an additional variable charge based on distance travelled.

23.01.2022 Scott Morrisons Government is responsible for keeping aged care residents safe. Instead hes neglected the most vulnerable people in our society and left them behind. Aged care needs to be fixed and weve got a plan to do just that.

22.01.2022 Labor welcomes the extension of JobKeeper. But when low-paid workers start copping $300-a-week pay cut they know exactly who to blame: Scott Morrison and Pauline Hanson. Labor tried to put in a safety net. Morrison and Hanson teamed up to stop it.

22.01.2022 A patient stuck in the emergency department for more than 100 hours for a bed is just not good enough. The governments cuts to the health system - cuts to beds and cuts to doctors and nurses, is only making the ramping situation worse.

22.01.2022 I'm committing to tackling the issue of customer violence and abuse by supporting the SDA's No One Deserves A Serve campaign. #NoOneDeservesAServe SDA Union. South Australia & Northern Territory.

21.01.2022 Its official, we are in Recession. We need that Jobs Plan!

20.01.2022 2.5 million pensioners will be impacted by the Morrison Governments pension freeze, beginning from today.

20.01.2022 Scott Morrison wants local sporting clubs to forget the millions of dollars rorted throughout his last election campaign. Local clubs and their members haven't forgotten, and now they're fighting for the funding they deserved. Sign their petition here https://bit.ly/2SIw0hi

20.01.2022 Many thanks to Bob Sampson from the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide for taking the time to show me The Blue Bird Train owned by John Geber from Chteau T...anunda. It would be great to see this wonderful train back on the tracks and carrying tourists from Gawler to the Barossa. She certainly does represent a glorious bygone era ! I recall Her Majesty, the Queen travelling on her, during her visit to Gawler in 2002 when I was mayor. While at the museum, I also took the opportunity to see one of the steam engines manufactured in Gawler at the James Martin foundry. Both Gawler and the Barossa share some wonderful history. 19.01.2022 LIVE: Peter Malinauskas will deliver his response to the State Budget and our plan to rebuild a stronger South Australia.

19.01.2022 Steven Marshall’s new electric car tax could cost electric car drivers up to $375 extra a year! We should be striving to be a national leader when it comes to electric cars, which would benefit our economy and our environment. And is why, I will be opposing this new electric car tax.

19.01.2022 Privatisation doesn’t work. When the Adelaide Remand Centre was publicly run, it was a safe and secure facility, it went decades without an escape. It has taken... less than 15 months for a dangerous prisoner to escape the same Remand Centre privatised by the Marshall Liberal Government last year. See more

18.01.2022 When will Steven Marshall listen to the thousands of South Australian essential workers who've gone above and beyond this year to serve our community?

18.01.2022 Theres nothing like a day at the footy, especially at the Willaston Football Club Thank you to Aldo for your invite to todays annual sponsors day, where I was joined by Tony Piccolo MP. It was great to meet the local businesses that help support the Mighty Donnybrooks, including major sponsors, Lumond Lawyers and Jims Fencing and diamond sponsors the Kingsford Hotel and Reece Group. Todays footy was well attended by everyone with the action in the middle as tough as I can remember!

17.01.2022 No Pension increase for the first time in 25 years..... This is a slap in the face to those pensioners doing it tough!

17.01.2022 Eryn has been looking for work for years. She studies, volunteers in the community and is gaining unpaid experience. But she is one of many northern suburbs residents left waiting an average of 53 weeks to secure a job. South Australians overall are waiting an average of 34 weeks.... It takes longer to find a job in South Australia than any other state, with the wait nearly three months longer than the next worst state. These aren’t just numbers we’re talking about. It’s about real people. A job provides so much more than an income, it provides dignity and purpose. The Marshall Liberal Government must do more to deliver jobs, and that begins with getting on with job-creating projects.

16.01.2022 Lets protect retail workers

16.01.2022 Under Scott Morrisons changes to JobKeeper businesses doing better will be given the power to cut their workers pay by more. As turnover goes up take home pay goes down.

14.01.2022 There are more than 170,000 South Australians who are unemployed or underemployed. And the construction industry is sending a clear message to the Marshall Libe...ral Government: just get on with it. Latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed a $666.7 million fall in the value of construction work done in SA over the past 12 months. The Marshall Liberal Government needs to listen to the construction industry and finally invest in job-creating infrastructure projects to kickstart the economy.

14.01.2022 Scott Morrison is always there for the photo op, but never there for the follow up.

14.01.2022 The Uleybury Fire is now contained, with crews expected to remain on the fireground well into tonight mopping up and ensuring the area is completely extinguishe...d. The fire is also still creating a fair bit of smoke, so please make sure you’re keeping your doors and windows closed if you’re in an area affected. The fire came far too close for comfort for Adelaide’s Northern Suburbs and serves as a reminder to everyone in the outer suburbs to ensure you have a Bushfire Survival Plan and an emergency kit ready to go, in case fire threatens your home, you need to leave and then can’t return for some time. The fire was started by a slasher- with today’s cooler weather we know that it would have appeared to be a good day to use the machinery and this fire goes to show how quickly fires can get out of control in any conditions. Today’s fire was attended by over 160 CFS volunteers as well as MFS strike teams and Farm Fire Units. 13.01.2022 CareAlert is a great local South Australian company that has been providing older South Australians with devices to get help in the event of an emergency. 13.01.2022 125 weeks ago I became the new South Australian Labor Leader and, with Susan Close MP as the Deputy, we have been leading a very dedicated team. I was very luc...ky growing up in a middle-class dream. Living in a loving household with devoted and hard-working parents. And so Ive got absolutely no excuse not to do my best as the SA Labor Leader. When I became the Leader, I set out to work constructively with the Government - just like we have been during the pandemic. However, if they have a policy that hurts people or is inconsistent with our values - they can expect one hell of a fight. My team and I are serious about focusing on the future and developing good public policy for all. Equal opportunities and an improved standard of living for everybody no matter what your postcode is, what your background is, or who you are. That is why these three points are so important. Jobs for today. An Education for tomorrow. And the Environment because its forever.

12.01.2022 South Australia under Steven Marshall. Highest jobless rate. Lowest stimulus.

11.01.2022 This year has been challenging for so many people in our community. Asking someone Are you okay? could save a life not just today on R U OK Day but on every single day of the year. Find out more at https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

10.01.2022 A media adviser in the Marshall Liberal Government was given a 6 per cent raise without any process or justification. But train drivers facing privatisation un...der the Marshall Liberal Government reportedly seeking a 4 per cent wage increase has been criticised by Treasurer Rob Lucas, citing the state budgets current deficit and spiraling state debt. Our trains are an essential service which have been servicing thousands of South Australians, especially during this pandemic. An essential service that needs to stay in public hands and not privatised for private profit - which is why if elected, Labor will be taking back our trains and trams.

10.01.2022 On Friday, Scott Morrisons Minister for Aged Care couldnt tell us how many people have died in the aged care homes they regulate. He couldnt get it right yesterday either. Australians deserve better. Scott Morrison must demand better!

09.01.2022 Scott Morrison will cut JobKeeper a week from today. In my electorate of Spence that means more than 11,000 people will lose vital income support totalling over $10 million each fortnight - putting jobs and businesses at risk in the middle of a recession.

09.01.2022 The Liberals have cut more than $3 billion from TAFE and training since they came to office, and 140,000 apprentices and trainees have been lost nationwide. #nationalskillsweek

07.01.2022 How they respond to victims of robodebt vs. how they respond to JobKeeper rorts.

07.01.2022 Today marks 2 years since Scott Morrison called the Royal Commission into aged care. He doesnt want to hear what it has to say. Australians deserve better than a Prime Minister that wont accept a shred of responsibility for the mess thats happened under his Governments watch.

07.01.2022 HAPPY 100th Birthday Hugh Bower Great lunch at the Red Door Cafe Tanunda with Hugh Bower from Lyndoch, South Australia on a sunny August afternoon. Thanks to ...Patti and Penelope for the wonderful food and friendly service. Hugh is a veteran of the Royal Australian Air Force veteran Hugh will celebrate his 100th birthday this Sunday. Hugh has received recognition of his service to the war effort from the Commonwealth Government as part of the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2. He served in No. 36 Squadron, becoming one of the first two personnel upon its formation at Laverton in 1942, where he primarily stocked cargo and other supplies onto planes. He was eventually discharged in 1946, just three weeks short of five years with the RAAF, as Sergeant Hugh David Bower. His statement of service and discharge shows that his character assessment produced a result of very good and his trade proficiency was considered superior, qualifying him for a Returned from Active Service Badge, a War Medal (1939-45) and Australian Service Medal (1939-45). Hugh has lived a remarkable life, and I would like to thank him for bravely serving Australia across various parts of the country. He has also been involved with the RSL Gawler sub branch for many years, an association which continues to this day even as he nears the amazing 100-year milestone birthday. 06.01.2022 Scott Morrison is all about himself and doesn’t really care about you. Since 2014, Scott Morrison and the Coalition have overseen the permanent loss of more than 55,000 manufacturing jobs in Australia and promised to create 2,600 new manufacturing jobs by July. He’s managed just 78 and charged the taxpayer $79 million to do it! Scott Morrison is Not on your side. https://notonyourside.org.au/modernmanufacturingfail

05.01.2022 Having suggested in a constructive way that we stop medi hotels in their current form until a safer solution is found, I very much welcome this news.

05.01.2022 There is a $666.7 million collapse in the value of construction work done in South Australia in the past 12 months - a fall of 6.5% despite other states seeing ...increases even with the COVID-19 downturn. Shadow Treasurer, Stephen Mullighan MP, this morning explains South Australias COVID-19 stimulus lags behind the rest of Australia with SA spending just 1.3% of its Gross State Product on stimulus. There are now more than 170,000 South Australians who are unemployed or underemployed. The Marshall Liberal Government is failing to invest in infrastructure during a time where we cant afford to stall key projects for such a prolonged period of time.

05.01.2022 Despite the Coalition promising in 2013 to deliver the NBN for $29.5 billion, the cost has now increased to $57 Billion! Under the Liberals, Australia has an inferior network that costs more than the original fibre plan, but does less........

04.01.2022 The number of reports of suspected child abuse to the Child Protection Department grew to almost 40,000 in the past financial year. And over 14,000 calls to th...e Child Abuse Report Line went unanswered during the same period. It is deeply worrying that this volume of calls have gone unanswered. As of last month, 4,456 children were in state care, up from 3,988 in June the previous year. The Marshall Liberal Government needs to explain what it is doing to prevent these huge increases in children being abused and taken into care.

04.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: The Marshall Liberal Government have just announced they are handing over $2.14 billion of taxpayers money to an overseas company to run our train network.

03.01.2022 South Australian Labor will introduce legislation to establish a specific criminal offence for desecrating a war memorial or monuments. This follows the vandal...isation near the National War Memorial on North Terrace just before Remembrance Day. War Memorials honour those who have fought for our country, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice. Last year, I wrote to Steven Marshall offering to work with him to introduce legislation that would protect our War memorials. He rejected that offer and instead suggested the Graffiti Control Act 2001 with a maximum penalty of 18 months imprisonment would be sufficient. It is clear a maximum penalty of 18 months imprisonment for desecrating War memorials and their surrounds is insufficient. Which is why we will be introducing our own legislation with a maximum of 10 years imprisonment.

01.01.2022 #RemembranceDay2020 11 November 2020 marks Remembrance Day when we recognise the service and sacrifice of the more than 102,000 Australian men and women who gave their lives in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Originally known as Armistice Day, this solemn occasion marks the day the guns fell silent on the Western Front during the First World War. ... It was later, following the Second World War, that 11 November became known as Remembrance Day. On this day, Australians are encouraged to stop and observe a minute’s silence at 11:00am at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month to commemorate our fallen service men and women.
