25.01.2022 Love unpacking stock when it’s as yummy as this delivery. @pudforallseasons stock has arrived and so come in and pick up your Christmas pud and sauces and food gift for friends or yourselves. I would so like to support another small Victorian regional business by placing more orders before Christmas so come now, shop local, so I can spread the love around

25.01.2022 Well getting ready to close up for another week or so. It’s going to be tough for small businesses as many of us aren’t ever eligible for any financial assistance and are still recovering from February’s 5 day lockdown. So be kind to others, look after yourselves and hopefully we are back next week and when you can and where you can, shop local and support small business. ... We are closed next Friday as I have Peter Mac but hopefully here next Saturday or earlier but I doubt that. Nickelby Designs is up on the website for online shopping and this week will give me more time to make more things and play with the alpacas so not all bad Cheers Angela

24.01.2022 Open today - Cup Day. 10-4. It is just lovely to see the sun. Open all this week and every day next week as well so pop on down to Yarragon. More linen dresses etc. arriving tomorrow and over the next couple of weeks and our Christmas puds and sauces will be here by the weekend as well. Cheers

23.01.2022 Mother’s Day is just around the corner and Nickelby’s, The Little Shop Around the Corner in Yarragon has heaps of Mother’s Day gift ideas. So much is handmade, with the feature being Nickelby Designs made from alpaca, to recycled earrings made from coffee pods, baskets from West Africa, olive oil from my farm and jars of local produce and beautiful French linen dresses. So many hand made, fair trade items you are spoilt for choice! Come in and check us out

22.01.2022 Anita from @penonparchment fame popped in today with her gorgeous 2021 calendars (oh bring it on!) and changed over some of her artwork. The walls are now looking fresh and very colourful. Showing these two as they are my new favourites

22.01.2022 Many people who come into the shop are spinners and creators. For those of you who are I can highly recommend this magazine. It is currently digital but they are trying to get enough subscribers to get it into print. Thoroughly recommend it. Check it out and see for yourself. Angela

22.01.2022 Some of you have admired the flowers and tea light holder on my counter and asked if you could buy them. Well a couple of pieces have arrived today from the lovely @beadsnpods and are in store now. Don’t put it off as they will go quickly with Christmas just around the corner

20.01.2022 My little mini studio in the shop today. Between customers I will be spinning and weaving so pop on in and say hi and see these beautiful pieces of equipment in action (and me, Angela )

20.01.2022 Open every day this week 10-4 and will reassess at the end of each week as we all know a week is a long time in a pandemic Anyway we are stocked up with masks for girls and gals, blokes and guys and even the kids. All made by local artists who can’t currently attend their markets. We also have the wonderful Gippy Clippy’s in stock made by Matt.

18.01.2022 Sitting in the shop weaving away and talking to lots of visitors. It is great to see Yarragon buzzing again. I’ve been open every day for the past weeks. I will be open every day this coming week (including Monday) except Friday due to appointments in Melbourne. That will make it 24 days straight so no excuse not to come and say hi. More puddings and sauces on their way as well as baskets

18.01.2022 Father’s Day at Nickelby’s. You might not think of us as a dad store but we do have quite a few things we know dads would love Pop in this weekend and have a look. We are open Sat & Sun 10-4 My dad when he was alive always wanted cleaning things for his pride & Joy - his car. We don’t have those but I’m sure he would have been happy with a pair of alpaca socks

17.01.2022 My dog Paddington are in training for a 60km walk so just letting all our contacts know in case you would like to help find a cure for cancer and support our efforts. We are in training! 16.01.2022 Just a heads up. I will be closing at 2 tomorrow (Friday) as I have treatment at Peter Mac. It is going to be a freezing wet cold day so not thinking anyone will be around but just in case. Will be back on Saturday 10-4 normal times Stay warm and enjoy Spring

16.01.2022 This is of my latest pieces and it has just gone home with a lovely customer so have to make more! The local produce is still here in time for non chocolate Easter presents. I’m open every day (possibly just the morning on Good Friday, shall see) so come and visit us - the little shop around the corner. With this weather you might like a lovely linen number. We have lovely French linen dresses and tops too

15.01.2022 Smiling with your eyes is often difficult. Under my mask I have a big smile on my face but you can’t really see it. So the sign I am doing with my hands is the Auslan sign for smile/smiling. So if you see someone and you don’t think your eyes are telling the full story then maybe consider adopting this cute little piece of sign language. Visitors to Nickelby’s might just see me giving out smiles over the next six weeks. Would love you to smile back as we navigate through these difficult times

15.01.2022 Excuse the dirty car window but I am always worried if I wind it down these two will fly right in On Mondays when the shop is shut I am not putting my feet up. Mondays are my full on day around the farm. Every time I stop the car at my studio these two love birds come straight to the car and start picking at my dirty side mirrors. I did however see today that the very handsome boy sneaking some admiring looks at himself. 15.01.2022 We’re back baby! Regional is back in business as of Friday however it is my Peter Mac day so I’m back on Saturday. I have been really busy creating so there are new garments, more snoods, more hats, more gloves. I was on a roll Some more things are online for those who can’t visit us and whilst I don’t offer after pay you can contact me if you wish to layby anything you see online. Details are on the Nickelby’s website. Whilst it is great to be back it will still be quiet without our Melbourne visitors livening up our little town of Yarragon so hurry back peeps, the welcoming mat will be out.

14.01.2022 Bashiri baskets back in stock along with some quirky hats. These are made from elephant grass which grows in the flood plains of the White Volta bear Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana, west Africa. At Nickelby’s I support hand made, fair trade, natural fibres and sustainability. One of these baskets would make a great Christmas present because let’s face it, we can always find a use for another basket, yes?

13.01.2022 Popped my head out of my shop door this morning to see this lovely piece of furniture sitting out of the front of next door, the lovely @paintitcream and knew if I did a bit a reshuffle in the shop it would fit in beautifully. Turns out I was right Open every day except Monday 10-4 . More linen dresses and tops arriving soon to add to what is already here

13.01.2022 Easter is just around the corner and if you have presents you have to buy and chocolates are not their thing, then maybe pop in and checkout our table full of local produce including olive oil from my farm. We also have raw honey, chutneys and jams and also lovely relishes and BBQ sauce for that Easter camping trip. 12.01.2022 It’s world bee day and here at Nickelby’s we stock the beautiful raw honey of Come Fly With Me Beekeeping. It is such beautiful honey it nearly has its own fan club here in the shop and repeat purchasers have convinced people to buy it they speak so highly of its yumminess. Pop into Yarragon and grab a jar for yourselves

11.01.2022 Hay fever season is just about upon us and Caroline from Come Fly With Me Beekeeping rightfully tells us that now is the time to top up our bodies with natural honey. It just so happens she has just dropped off the last of this seasons honey to us here at Nickelby’s. (I’m also starting to bottle up this seasons olive oil too!) Open today(Sunday) and will be open again on Tuesday. As I have been working in the shop 6-7 days a week since reopening in May if the weather is a lit...tle revolting this week I might take Wednesday or Thursday off to recharge the batteries but I will let everyone know. 11.01.2022 If you are like me when a hot day hits I want to be free and flowing Nickelby’s is all about natural fibres and in the warmer weather you can’t go past linen. It creases I hear you say. Well it does but so does cotton. This linen however is not stiff. It’s French linen and made in Italy and is wonderfully soft. ... No dress is over $140 and there are lots of tops for $80 and under. So pop on in, try a piece (one size fits all in each style) you will fall in love. Remember Nickelby’s only buys from sustainable businesses so nothing is made in China and over 95% is made in Australia

07.01.2022 The Premier announced yesterday that in two weeks time Victorians wearing face shields, scarves or bandanas will be fined (including regional Victorians) and only face masks can be worn. Just to let you know if you are still requiring the now government approved face coverings we are still stocking them made by Wendy Hitchins Judy Craig & creations by Allison and to make wearing them easier on your ears we stock the ear saving gippy clippies made by Matt Bordonaro Open Tuesday - Sunday 10-4 **edit. There is some confusion on the start date as there is different info on the Premier’s Facebook page to what he said yesterday and what it says on the DHHS. It is possible it comes into force today (Monday) so lucky we are open tomorrow

Aptly name liquorice all sorts and honey bees We are open all weekend as per usual so if those walls you have been staring at need a lift or your artwork needs jazzing up for behind you at zoom meetings then these two might fit the bill. Anita has even more work on our walls so pop on in (if regional) and check them out

07.01.2022 It’s baby time and Nickelby Designs which is sold in the shop and made by me is made from these guys and their friends. This little boy was born this week and he is as cute as a button. Managed to give him a cuddle tonight and he is so soft and not surprising as alpaca is softer, lighter and warmer than wool and doesn’t scratch. When next in Yarragon come and pop in and see the latest pieces. Cheers Angela

05.01.2022 New arrivals of papers and rubber pots, kitchen brushes etc. More sauces, Christmas chocolates, pepper berry jams and chutneys and baskets arriving soon. Everything we sell is ethical sourced, most probably handmade and guarantee nothing made in China!

04.01.2022 These Nickelby Design snoods/neck warmers sell as soon as I make them and they have been known to sell whilst still being made During lockdown I have time to stock up and they come in red, navy, grey and cream and I’m making to order (a couple of days) For those close to the shop we are doing click and collect or I’m going halves in postage so they are $64.95 plus $5 postage.... Alpaca and merino - soft, light, warm and non scratchy. Wear around your neck or also pop them up over your head. You might be like others and decide you need more than one once you wear one

03.01.2022 A little alpaca fun to brighten your day. We sell the Archie the Black Alpaca books here at Nickelby’s. The kids love them. A little Covid update..... The shop will be closed on Thursday for me to prepare 15kg of fleece to go off for processing and oversee work being done around the farm and spend some time with my alpacas. Can’t be in two places at once, however I will be here tomorrow (Wednesday) and then back Friday.... Stay safe and enjoy this giggle. Thanks Archie for sharing this with us all. See more
