21.01.2022 Shelves are full again in my humble little studio shop. Pop in for a chat and a look if you’re on island and see the sign out. #tasmanianceramics #madeonbruny

15.01.2022 Lessons from the Beast! Those of you who have followed me for awhile may be familiar with the gas kiln I have known as The Beast. Yesterday I fired it again, at the moment we are on a journey to get to know each other through bisque firing larger pieces. Each firing brings its challenges and drama, yesterday the way I had packed the kiln was giving me very inaccurate pyrometer (temp) readings in one of my spy wholes. Lesson 1, give the spy holes room and don’t place pieces up... against them.... see, seems obvious right! Lesson 2, give the flu space to draw, not too much but the heat needs space to flow through. Lesson 3..... maybe..... use Wads of clay under pieces that have large areas of contact with the shelves. Lesson 4, slow down, take time to pack, if large pieces straddle floor shelves then level them using wads or something that allows a little more give. Lesson 5, if you don’t go through trials you often miss the chance for tribulations. As you can see from pics The Beast needs some repairs, it broke a weld yesterday and one of the walls stared coming apart. The lid still lifts even with besser blocks to weigh it down, today my father and I will be welding and grinding to try and rectify these issues. To be continued! #brunyislandceramics #tasmanianceramics #madeonbruny See more

12.01.2022 I had a great time creating these 3 figurines. They are based on a memory of 3 fantastic, local blokes doing us a favour by shearing our sheep not long ago. The title is banter, the friendship and laughs they shared whilst carrying out the task was great. For these 3 it was a time for blokes to be blokes and a reminder for me of how important that can be. #tasmanianceramics #madeonbruny

11.01.2022 Had fun making this vessel today, a great exercise in controlling lines while letting go and exploring texture and flow. I’m really happy with the simplicity of the fore with small finishing details like the shadow line that makes the form float on each side. #madeonbruny #tasmanianceramics #ceramiclandscapes #nickersandclay

11.01.2022 I have created a website. Although it may not be highly polished it is 100% me. The main purpose is to create a portal for people to contact me regarding workshops I’m offering. The idea is that if you and mates or family are coming to Bruny island and want to do a fun activity together then I can come to your accommodation and host a ceramics workshop. See link in bio to jump to the website for more information. Thanks

10.01.2022 Another slab form, inspired by my recent walk on the overland track. Colours will change a bit with firing. #madeonbruny #tasmanianceramics #ceramiclandscape #nickersandclay

08.01.2022 I’ve started playing with making brooches of local flora and fauna using a mono print technique, this one slipped as I was putting the mono print on, I love the result and will be keeping it. It reminds me of all the cormorants around here when the weather is shitty. Hence I have dubbed this one, cormorant in a storm. #madeonbruny #tasmanianceramics #madeintasmania
