25.01.2022 Nicky’s Kids Town participated in ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime 2021. We joined together to listen to ‘Give me some space’ by Philip Bunting. Now in its 21st successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

24.01.2022 National Sorry Day, or the National Day of Healing, is an annual event that has been held in Australia on 26 May since 1998. The day remembers and commemorates the mistreatment of the country's Indigenous population. The children began to explore the Aboriginal culture in recognition of National Sorry Day along with and introduction into National Reconcilliation week! Nicky’s Kids Town acknowledge the traditional owners of the land we work on. And the elders and ancestors on whose shoulders we stand. We pay our respects to the Elders of the past, present and future and acknowledge their spiritual connection to country

24.01.2022 Ending the week with a sausage sizzle! Today we had a visit from Jeremy's dad Steve who dedicated some time to help us cook chicken sausages for lunch today! It was great to see how well the cockatoos contributed, carefully turning the sausages to make sure they cooked well! At times it was a bit tricky but after a few goes, they managed well.. I would say a job well done! ... Thank you to Nicky who organised the yummy sausages from her local butchers at Riverview. In the Cove

The children have already created their own game based on coordination and balance as they step upon them making sure to keep their balance and not to bump into their friends! If you have anything you feel we can use please let us know! As we are continuously on the lookout for more.

04.01.2022 Today the Goanna’s participated in the minute silence for Remembrance Day. They were encouraged to stand in one spot and just be quiet for 30 seconds, which they did. At the end, we sat them down and explained why we did that, along with praising them for their efforts. Great work Goanna’s super proud of you!

04.01.2022 Join us at NKT as investigations are underway. Outdoor Provocations have been a huge interest and today as we further extend on ways to continue the children’s learning journey we have created a water world for the children to explore. Provocations encourage cooperative engagement, discussions and problem solving. Provocations allow and encourage children to experience the world for themselves through open-ended activities without being overtly guided by a teacher or parent.... The idea behind provocations is to encourage children to think independently by encouraging their interests and the exploration of those interests. We started with red, then some yellow and we had orange and now it’s very green said one of our 3-5 friends
