23.01.2022 Chickpea blondies I saw this recipe from @dietitianedition and had to give it a try! It is a really tasty treat when you are wanting something sweet. The chickpeas and peanut butter make it a good source of protein with 7-9g per serve (depending on how big you want to slice it). Todays batch was made using: ... 1 can chickpeas (drain/rinse), 2 tsp vanilla essence, 3 tbs peanut butter, 1/2 cup white chocolate chips, 1 tsp sugar (dissolved in 1/5 cup water). Blend all the ingredients and then mix in the chocolate chips. Bake in a baking tray for 20mins. #legumes #chickpeas #blondie #sweettreats
18.01.2022 I am officially a published author! @busy_life_nutrition and I spend many months of research working on three studies including this systematic review, and I am so excited that it is finally published in the international journal Obesity Surgery. This research really opened my eyes to the evidence of different metabolic and weight loss therapies and made me fall in love with research. Quality of life and mental health are so important when it comes to weighing up the pros and cons of undergoing surgical and non-surgical weight loss procedures.
15.01.2022 Who else loves a cheese platter? wine and cheese nights are great for your mental health and can be nutritious as well! Last nights platter was loaded with fruit and veggies. I added wholemeal crackers and a basil pesto, and it was delicious! It is great served with a bowl of unsalted nuts, spiced chickpeas/broad beans and olives #veggies #snacks #platter
13.01.2022 LENTIL SHEPHERDS PIE || A great meat-free dinner option. I find dried red lentils work best and are a good vegetarian protein source. If you are not willing to completely go meat free with this dish, then why not try adding some lentils in with the mince to boost the fibre and reduce the saturated fat content of the meal. #lentils #vegetarianrecipes #meatfreemeals #fibre #protein
12.01.2022 VITAMIN D AND MUSHROOMS In Australia, 1 in 4 people have a vitamin D deficiency. During winter it can be hard to get enough vitamin D each day. It only comes in a small amount in your diet and majority from sunlight. Vitamin D helps with bone health and the absorption of calcium in your bones. Research has found that mushrooms can provide as much vitamin D as a supplement if you do one simple trick. Dice them up and put them in the sun in your window for about 15mins to... increase the absorption of vitamin D. #mushrooms #vitamind #veg #nutritionfacts

10.01.2022 Attention all Swansea locals. Sally Fletcher and I are developing a healthy community program called Get Into It! Food, Fitness and Fun. 08.01.2022 Very grateful to have such a great community who have supported me whilst I take a big leap of faith and go out on my own to start a business as a dietitian! I recently had a business mentor meeting with Sally and John Fletcher, who then wrote an article about me in the local community newsletter which made the front page!! So excited to get into the clinic and see my new clients A massive thank you to everyone who is supporting me on this journey
06.01.2022 This is very true! People should not restrict certain foods in their diet unless they have a medical reason to do so like coeliac disease and a gluten free diet. Fruit is a great source of fibre, natural sugar and vitamins/minerals. Fruit is healthy!! and should be enjoyed not avoided. If you see a diet which tells you to avoid certain foods, you should question why as it may do more harm than good in the long run. Speak to a dietitian if you are unsure. ... 05.01.2022 As toddlers become more independent, controlling the food they want to eat can be one way of showing this. What are your thoughts on providing your child with the food and letting them serve their own meals?
