18.01.2022 Balance If you try to be good at everything, soon enough you will realize you are making small amounts of progress in many directions that don’t really matter to us. Just like filling up a bunch of cups half way rather than a few cups all the way to the brim. Life can often pull you in [way too] many directions. People depend on us, and we take on the responsibility to keep everyone happy and live up to those commitments. Socially, at work, at home, our family, our ...extended family, our community. At what point to we stretch and divide ourselves so much between these different areas, that we are no longer us, and then, in the end, cannot even uphold what, and who, we are supposed to be for these different people/parts of our life? Essentialism is about identifying what you truly want to say yes to, feeling empowered to pursue what’s essential to you, and making the small choices again and again that help you win big where it actually matters at the end of the day. Focus on what your mission is, your goal, and what you are achieving. Use the 90% rule (This means trading things that are 90% beneficial to you and attached to your goal, and important with the ones that are 60%, 70%, 80% important.) Pause and step back to gain perspective - take the time to ask yourself questions like ‘does that email need to be sent immediately?’ Finally, step back, take a break. For instance, we take the weekends off PT to regroup, recharge and come back stronger on a Monday ready to deliver quality sessions. Everyone needs a break. Remember, you can grow at different parts of your life and find that at different phases you have different goals. You can change direction, you can grow (prefer this term to ‘changing’), or you can fall off track, reflect, and be pulled back on track. Importantly, enjoy the process. If it’s not causing you any happiness, then it could be time to reassess. See more

10.01.2022 Thank you for all your very kind messages today. A reminder (and constant self reminder) that this is a temporary period. We must find safe ways to train to get our daily dose of endorphins in the meantime to ensure that it wont drag on. Its never been so important to train even when we dont feel like it. Ive cried more times than I can count on my fingers and toes during this period, but I am overwhelmed by the support, kindness and warmth from the people around me... in a city thats fairly new to me still (although its nearly been a year wtf.) Over the last few months NGT has grown with your support and I cant thank you enough for that and the efforts you give to each and every session. Youre not just my clients, youre my friends and fast becoming a surrogate family. Im not stopping. Well take this online and the workouts will be just as challenging. I cant wait to hug you all soon and come out the other side, together. See more

10.01.2022 You are the only person in this world who can make the changes that you want for yourself. Now, more than ever before, I have felt an unequivocal realisation that we have control of very few factors in our lives, however we have the opportunity to manifest positive changes by taking control of these elements. The way I see it, our remit of control is within our training, nutrition, recovery, sleep, mindset and reactions. ... The energy that you give to these areas will dictate the way in which these things thrive. Okay, so you dont have control of the weather when you go for a run. If you put a negative lens on that experience and focus on the way the weather is and how if it was sunnier it would be much more pleasant. OR you could put a positive lens on it and focus on your stride, your pace, the element of your experience that you can control. Forget the weather, focus on your response to adversity. I always say plan for adversity. That means, dont always plan for your plan A, plan for your plan B. Plan for when things go wrong and how youre going to deal with them. Focus on the things you can control and move in a way that is going to have the biggest, most positive, purposeful impact. You are the only person that is responsible for the things that you can change in your life. Its only within your remit. Theres no point waiting for someone else to come along and change them for you. Nobody is going to do that. You are the only person who can move your engine, but that also means you are responsible for looking after it and giving it what it needs. People around you can inspire you, motivate you, but really - deep down, you know it comes down to you and what you are capable of doing and continuing to do. Just like a car, if we dont fuel it properly, it wont function as intended. Frame that same analogy as if we were talking about your body. You are the only one who can control your engine, so focus on what it can do and leave what it cant. See more

04.01.2022 Nothings normal at the moment and thats okay. There are some who have benefitted from this time and some who most certainly have not. Its not quite an equal offering of destruction. People are without a doubt less motivated, probably a little bit bored, frustrated and fed up. If you live in Melbourne, youre probably just bloody over it. Its fine to feel flat one day and elated the next. Its actually fine if you feel that hour by hour at the moment with whats goi...ng on around us. Our brains arent quite equipped to cope with the constant adjustments and change. Theres barely any time to adapt, it feels very transactional at the moment. The masks add this new layer to your day and I certainly notice the absence of that smile from a stranger or passing greetings which can really change your day. My productivity has reduced in many ways but Ive gained it in other ways. Were just taking a side road for a few months until we can get back onto the Main Street and thats also okay. Even if this has hit us all differently, even if youre getting up at 10am every day, you get excited to go to woolies or youre running out of what to watch on Netflix, it really is the only time in our lives were going to be able to do this collectively. We might as well find some positivity in it and adjust the things we can change, like getting up and going for a run. We are all going the same direction and were all in it together even if it may not feel like it. Is there things wed rather be doing? Yes. But this is now, and the things we do now will be sure to benefit us in say 6, 8 months time when weve used this time positively and effectively. That might be that you spend your time in bed and rest because youve never done that in years of working, but someone else might take up running Whatever it is, use this time well. See more

04.01.2022 Sydney I miss you

04.01.2022 Something I needed to hear today: Growth requires stress. Determine the way you deal with stress - is it by escaping it? Or distracting yourself? Or is it by solving it? Our response to stress determines whether or not we grow or fall behind. Stress doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it’s about your responses and how you work through it. Whatever stress you have in the different components of your life, remember to discriminate against what you can change and what you can’t.

03.01.2022 Building up your push ups strength > build up to push ups on your toes by utilising the same muscle groups, dont avoid them. Practising these movements will also mean youll become better at them, play to your weaknesses. A push up negative like this means that I am releasing my bodyweight all the way to the ground, ensuring that I tense my core (so imagine Im about to punch you in the stomach, thatll do it) and keep your elbows in close towards your chest which will ...recruit more bicep muscle than if you keep your arms wide. If you need to - like Ive demonstrated here - release your knees to the ground and push up through your palms with your elbows remaining close to your chest and your hips ascending at the same time as your upper body to ensure your lower back isnt taking unnecessary tension. If youre training from home at the moment, filming yourself is a good option to check your form. Set yourself 20 of these every morning and night and watch them improve, building up to push ups with only your hands and toes making contact with the floor. See more

03.01.2022 Dont mind this training outside business when Melbs is turning on the weather for us

02.01.2022 I have been on the hunt for a booty band that was similar to my light blue loop (those who have trained with me...you know what Im talking about..) I finally found it! I chucked my logo on it and now its yours to purchase. This is the perfect at home tool for both men and women to execute a variety of different movements to target the Adductors, Abductors, Hips, Glutes and Hamstrings. This band is 13 inches (super tough) and made of Nylon so its extra tough. It has little stripes on the inside so that its non-slip, the seam reinforcement means that its durable and its wide for increased resistance. #fullkitwanker #bootyband @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
