24.01.2022 Trauma comes in many forms. My passion is teaching kids with a trauma in their life. Today I embark on a new journey at a new school that specializes in this. Learning difficulties (not necessarily disgnosed but ones where you learn differently to the way most do in school) are also trauma. It can be hard work to prerend you are as smart as your class mates and terrifying to give your parents that report card. 03.01.2022 Hi everyone I am seeing a number of homeschooling frustrations appear on my newsfeed Heres some advice from me I am a teacher but not a home schooling parent so this is a very different dynamic for me. What i can say is:... All students strive with a bit of structure but give your timetabling some leeway the first few weeks find out what works and what doesnt Different schools may have different structures of learning and if they have online meetings its important your child attends them to feel socially included as well as to see examples of work or to ask questions Whilst students are at school 9 to 330 they do not learn solidly by studing books for 6.5hrs do not expect that at home As a rule of thumb kids can concentrate solidly for 3mins per year of age So if they are 10 the amount concentration they have for a topic is 30mins give or take Thats all i have to contribute for now Take care Be kind to yourself

01.01.2022 Week 1 at my new school is almost over! What I have learnt this week is that I am employed by a school who has the same pedagogical philosophy as me. "Students will do well if the can." I believe in this so much it falls under the same category of "children dont know how to hate." Another topic I am passionate about.... No one wants to do bad at something. We all strive to do well and our best. So with hope I look forward to next week when I have students in my classroom.
