23.01.2022 I personally believe couples who book Celebrant’s do so based on how well they get along with us. While I have my arms wide open in welcome to work with same sex couples in designing and conducting their marriage ceremony, I know of a few colleagues who don’t wish to conduct marriages for same sex couples. How will this affect your wedding planning?... Will it pose a problem at all for you when trying to book your Celebrant? I’m very proud that marriage equality is in the process of being included into the Marriage Act and I look forward to taking bookings once it’s formalised. #ThisCelebrantWillMarryYou What about civil celebrants? This has been a real point of conjecture so far. New celebrants will not be able to refuse to marry same-sex couples. There will be a grandfathering provision that allows celebrants who are already registered to object. Some politicians want new civil celebrants to be able to object on religious grounds. I look forward to my first call asking me to perform a marriage to any two consenting adults ... Be patient and supportive, we want to make sure they get the wording right so that no one is left behind. 06.01.2022 Friends - If you know of a same sex couple who are searching for a Celebrant for their marriage ceremony, please get them to get in contact with me. I am looking at providing my first same sex ceremony at no cost or only travel costs if more than 30 minutes outside of Canberra. I am looking for the couple to approve the use of their wedding photo on my web-site and for marketing purposes. This will save them hundreds of dollars off their wedding.
