21.01.2022 Queensland kids can learn to cook from the comfort of their own kitchens in the school holidays using English celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's food and techniques. Jamie's Ministry of Food is conducting a school holiday program of virtual classes. With more than 19,000 Queenslanders having participated in Jamie's Ministry of Food's program, online virtual communities have popped up from Yarrabilba to Mackay, and Toowoomba to Isaac.... The Queensland program is on week one of the holidays, with classes on September 21, 23 and 25. A nation-wide program of classes runs from September 28-October 2. With funding from the state government with the support of Health and Wellbeing Queensland, Jamie's Ministry of Food representative say they are committed to improving the nutritional education and cooking skills for locals and priority groups. "Our school holiday program will teach our young students the basics of food, nutrition and cooking, as well as some of Jamie's special tips and tricks," The Good Food Foundation's chief executive, Siobhan Boyle said. "Participants will learn how to make meals from scratch, by baking, grilling, sautéing, boiling and roasting fresh ingredients." "The program equips teens with skills that make it simpler and quicker to cook healthy, delicious meals - a skill that will take them well into adulthood. Maintaining a healthy diet is always important and particularly during these difficult times." #propertymanagement #investment #investmentproperty #rental #leased #wellingtonpoint #ormiston #clevelandqld #cleveland #redlandsqld #victoriapoint #capalaba #alexandrahills #redlandsqldlocalbusiness #rentalproperty #wellingtonpoint #thorneside #thornlands #mountcotton #redlandsbay #localnews #jamieoliver

05.01.2022 Sustainability in the home extends to the outdoors and it’s not just about planting more trees. Why not turn your #iso calendar into an urban renewal project, starting in your own backyard? 1. Native plants are great, but not vital As native plants are likely to thrive in our environment and they cut down the need for maintenance. Perhaps looks for a good mix of natives and exotics. ... 2. Don’t overwater Overwatering is the main issue when it comes to water use. It helps to do your research and figure out how much water your plants actually need. 3. Start composting Starting a compost bin is relatively easy and it will reduce your landfill waste. The first thing to consider is the type of compost bin you need. Also, not all ‘natural’ waste can go in to your compost. For instance, meat and dairy are big no-nos. 4. Reduce chemical-heavy products Many products have reduced their use of nasty chemicals. But, there are also plenty of home remedies or organic brands you could seek out. When it comes to home remedies, try bi-carb for a fungicide or canola oil for a pesticide. 5. Mulch your garden Using mulch helps on a number of fronts: it prevents weeds, it helps absorb water, and it prevents soil erosion caused by the elements. Any organic matter is great whether it be manure, hay, wood chips or coffee grounds. 6. Start a vegetable or herb garden Your very own vegetable garden is an incredible resource, especially when you’re restricted going to the supermarket. First stop should be the local nursery, where the experts can help you understand the precise soil and climate conditions of your area. #investmentproperty #propertyinvestment #investmentproperties #realestatetips #realestateaustralia #australianrealestate #propertymanager #propertymarket #ormiston #wellingtonpoint #capalaba #alexhills #cleveland #redlandsqld #localbusiness #birkdale #familyfriendly #perfecthome #sustainability #homegardening
