24.01.2022 . Happy 80th to my adorable dad, George! . My family and I recently threw my dad a surprise party. An olive theme was in order as my dad loves olives...so much so that he actually makes his own oil from his olive trees in Greece...yes you read right...he grows his own trees, hand picks the olives, makes it into oil and ships them over in a container to Australia for his family to enjoy!!! Im actually really lucky because my father in law does the same here with his Gingin o...lives so we are totally living the olive oil dream! . Hope you enjoyed your surprise birthday party dad! Unfortunately we couldnt do our Mothers Day Cards this year but I still wanted to share this incredible story to help create awareness for breast cancer! . -Post from 2018- . Meet Gracie, a beautiful Mum friend I met through our kids school. Gracie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I was so excited to give her a special Mothers Day card today! Her story is just another reason I love helping the amazing @breastcancercarewa . //Gracies Story// . In April 2017 I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I kept seeing brochures in the office where I worked about breast awareness and decided to go have an exam. I had no symptoms or lumps. . Treatment was immediate and it included a Lumpsectomy, Masectomy, Chemio, Radiation and currently Herceptin. I havent been given the all clear yet, but I am hopeful. The chances of reoccurrence can occur anytime in the next five years but chances are small. . Before starting the conventional path of standard treatment, I tried Thermography. I found it to be extremely helpful and less painful as compared to a mammogram. I hope thermography can be accepted in the upcoming years. . I hadnt heard of Breast Cancer Care WA and I am so glad that some mums from school recommended me to call them. They were amazing. They provided me with so much help and support through counselling groups and sending out a nurse to help me understand my diagnosis and help explain all the parts that were confusing to me. They also directed me to other agencies and groups that could further help me like camp quality. I am so grateful for the recommendation because they were really able to help me and my family. Having cancer has changed my life, although it was absolutely horrible, I try to see the positive things it brought to my life. My advice to women out there is early detection, be breast aware and get checked out. . For those of you who are currently going through treatment please seek and accept help from family and friends. That helped me to get through this and I discovered I am stronger than I thought and brought me closer to my faith in God. There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. We were so incredibly lucky that we acted FAST and that the ambulance got him to hospital in time as he became completely unresponsive and they saved his life! Our gorgeous daughter, Georgia has selflessly cut her very long locks and has donated them to Variety - the Childrens Charity WA to help make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to a medical condition, for example Alopecia. Georgia cut a whopping 35.5cm making 7 pony tails!! . This is not the first time Georgia has donated her hair, just a short four years ago whilst in pre-primary she did it for the first time! . Wigs cost families up ...to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a childs youth. 12.01.2022 FATHERS DAY CARD FUNDRAISER For those of you who dont know, stroke has personally affected my little family. ... Just two years ago my amazing husband suffered a stroke, he was just a month shy off his 34 birthday. He was fit, healthy and absolutely full of life! Strokes do not discriminate, they happen in an instant and completely turn your life around. What we have learnt is that time is the most important factor, 5 more minutes to get to the hospital and our story may have been very different today! Thank you @stjohnwa For this reason I created this Fathers Day fundraiser to raise money for the @strokefdn and awareness to those who dont know about strokes. My kids are so lucky to still be able to celebrate Fathers Day with their dad so I feel I want to give back where I can. The Stroke Foundation is the only national non-for-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness, preventing stroke, facilitating research and supporting stoke victims and their families.
