23.01.2022 With the announcement today, I think we were all left feeling down, even though we knew it was coming Instead of wallowing and feeling down, I picked up my camera, went outside and got creative One of the positives of lockdown...it forces you to do things you wouldn’t normally do with your day... At a time where I can't be doing what I love, what drives me, inspires me and introduces me to some amazing people (what I'm missing the most rn) I thought it best to honour this day with a little trip down memory lane This image is everything dear about my childhood.... trying to constantly steal my dad’s camera to shoot, taking the film canisters to our local camera shop for development, wondering with eagerness how my shots turned ou...t. I always had a camera in my hand, it's something I always saw around me and wanted to learn more about. Little did I know, it would become my life's passion Hindsight is a wonderful gift.... it makes sense that I've ended up here. I was never particularly studious or driven to 'be' something. I was a dreamer, always seeking out the beauty and wonder instead. 21.01.2022 Hi friends Welcome to 2020, the year the world went a little bonkers . But seriously, how are you? These are such uncertain times, and I know so many of us are feeling anxious, scared, annoyed, disappointed. No one really knows what's going on, if and when we'll go into lock down, but so many of us are already feeling the effects and having jobs and work cancelled, postponed or worse... . In these times, I think it's so important to look after our mental health and head...space. It's very easy to succumb to the feeling of isolation, loss of income, fear of what the coming months will bring. So please make sure you stay connected. And not to your phone screen, but with your family, friends, insta tribe. Check in your grandparents and elderly neighbours. FaceTime your friends who are living in another state or country. Spend quality time with your kids and loved ones. This time shall pass. Use it wisely and make sure if you need help and support, you ASK for it #wereallinthistogether #nicolepasphotography

18.01.2022 What's the biggest risk you've taken in your biz? For me? It was when I finally believed in myself enough to quit my day job, and launch my business. Sometimes we have to choose to play it safe or take a risk. I choose to get out of my comfort zone.... I decided to take the risk because I finally got to a place where I was doing something that brought me joy, and I could see that same joy in my clients. To be honest with you, it wasn't always easy. There were hard times, long nights, tears and self doubt, but I was determined to make it happen. The reason I'm sharing this with you today is that I want you to know that big dreams take a lot of work, and often requires us to push ourselves past our comfort zone. If I can do this, so can you! 13.01.2022 How taking action creates confidence I have spent WAY too much time researching ALL the things I didn’t know about biz life.... how to set up SEO, how to automate emails, how to pay myself super.... Running your own show comes with sooo many hats no one tells you about. Sure, this has been helpful knowledge to have. But, if I’m being honest with myself (and you!), the real reason I got hung up on this for so long was that I was nervous to cross it off the list and move forw...ard. I think that’s something most of us can relate to, right? Putting your dream out there is scary. It’s much more comfortable to tell yourself you are taking action while you are really just playing small. What’s that going to accomplish? Not much. Instead, it was only by diving in and taking REAL action that I made REAL progress. 11.01.2022 Dear Mr. Andrews, @danielandrewsmp My name is Nicole and I am a Full-Time Branding and Family Photographer, along with many other Full-Time Melbourne Metro Photographers. We are NOT Wedding Photographers.... We would LOVE specific information and clarity around when we, Full-Time Family/Branding Photographers can EFFECTIVELY work again AFTER LOCKDOWN (no info on our present circumstances). Without a mask exemption for our clients after lockdown, we won’t be able to work until 2021 or later. Currently, the media and their subjects can take their masks off for photography/videography, but our own clients will not be allowed to after lockdown, or they will receive a fine (as will we). Please help us. We need this information as, a). We have many exisiting clients (families, newborns, business clients) who are awaiting us to give word of what to expect in the future, b). Some of us photographers have a HUGE backlog of client shoots that will take months to finish before we can capture new clients to financially recover from 2020, and c). There is no end in sight of when we can return to work and serve our communities, which is causing great strain to our mental health and livelihoods. We would greatly appreciate clarity on these specific aspects, as our genre of photography is completely different to wedding photography. Can you please help us? 11.01.2022 The first day of prep... . The newest of beginnings as the preppies of 2020 put their uniforms and shiny new shoes on for the first time; lift the backpacks that are as big as they are onto their backs, and look to us with excitement, anticipation and nerves before they walk through the doors of big school And us mums? We hold back the tears, put on the biggest smile and show them only excitement, whilst grieving on the inside that we're letting go of our babies into the big,... wide world It always seems like it's forever away when they're newborn.... that first day of school. Something that will come one day, but we'll have so many chances to enjoy life before that point. Then one day.... the time has gone and here we are. Realising our babies are no longer babies I have so many emotions about my little bear starting school next week.... but I'm trying not to let the flood gates get the better of me. I’m not wrong am I? So many of us were put ‘on hold’ last year and now that we’re ’back to normal’ it feels as though we’re all running a sprint every day to make up for time lost... And often, that leads to us spending far too much time IN the biz, not working on it. I know that’s definitely the case for me So this is your reminder to stop, take a breath and block out time in your crazy schedule to make time for your biz baby. 09.01.2022 So I started recording my podcast today And you know what.... it was harder than I thought it'd be. But like everything worth doing, we persevere and keep going I thought I'd share my experience being IN FRONT of the camera for my first go at recording an episode, and just like the lessons I learned today from my own shoot, there were plenty I learnt trying to document my first episode ... I thought I could wing it and just start taking....I'm good at that normally but instead, I realised, just like a shoot, I need to stop, think about what I want to say, plan all the things and maybe even, write a little script to read from Because my brain runs a million miles an hour but my audience won't. And nor should they. They'll want to listen to a succinct episode that teaches and inspires them... and that's exactly what my podcast is ALL about So excited to start working on this new project! 07.01.2022 Self Care Saturday's These past few weeks have been nothing short of crazy. All too often we look at our days and think to ourselves we don't have enough hours in the day (even though we share the same 24 hours as Beyonce). When really what we need to focus on is how we spend those hours. Here's what I find true;... There is always enough time for morning cuddles with your kids, hot coffee first thing in the morning and watching the sunset at the end of the day. There's plenty of time for connecting with friends, new and old and having a real deep and meaningful conversation. Chasing new ideas and dreams and creating what inspires us. There's time to teach, and lots of time to learn. There's always time for doing good, but it will always fall on our shoulders to make the time for what we truly want. At the end of the day, we have to decide how we spend our days And you know what, I'd be lying if I told you I don't hit the bed at the end of the day feeling exhausted from everything, BUT I know the sun will rise tomorrow and I get to do it all over again #nicolepasphotography @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

06.01.2022 Would you believe this was taken on day 2 of #iso?! . My my, how much has changed.... seasons, perspective, priorities.... . I for one am still not *quite* sure I'm ready for a return to normality (except for homeschooling, that I'm DONE with that!)... But having these few extra months home with just my babies and me (hubs was holed up working away ).... it's been bliss I feel like we're starting school all over again tomorrow and again, I'm not quite ready for it..... anyone else feel the same?! #nicolepasphotography

05.01.2022 We're sooo close to the end of the year, I can almost taste it As I'm sure so many of you are also feeling, we've gone from 0 to 1000 in a matter of weeks and now as we race to the finish line of 2020, were trying to deliver/handover/complete/tick off all the things we've squeezed into these last few months But its also the time to rest, reset and re-evaluate the year that's been. Yes its been a tough one, but there have been so many lessons amongst the crap..... don't forget... to look at what the universe gave you and ask yourself, what can I meaningfully take into 2021 to make my life better? 05.01.2022 This was my mood today.... . Screaming into the void that no one could hear Pushing against a wall that will only push me back... Feeling my frustration and anger rising by the second, anxiety sitting on my chest, getting hotter and hotter, tears welling in my eyes But I won't let them fall. Because if I do, they won't stop So many emotions today. Frustration at the kids not listening to me. Anger at the lack of control I seem to have at home. Anxiety over feeling that this isn't going to be over any time soon - this is our new normal and I can't do anything about it I need to step away from Facebook because all I see is people's idiocricy (is that a word?) and selfishness that has led us back here. "Why should I wear a mask?!", "its the government's fault", "so what if I have the sniffles, I still need to go to the shops".... everything I see is about "me, me, me" not a care given about those around them This hurts my soul. It makes me question the world I've brought my children into. I don't want this life for them, I'm sure none of us do.... If you're still reading this, Thankyou for listening. 04.01.2022 R U OK? Let's be honest, its been a tumultuous year, one that has pushed us all to our limits both emotionally, physically and mentally. Some of us have been able to adapt to this new way of 'life' better than others, we're only human Today I'm proud to partner with @ruokday a day we're reminded to check in on our loved ones near and far to let them know we're here and that they're not alone. And whilst you don't need to wait till the 10th September to do this (we should be... doing this everyday, especially right now!) there's another aspect to asking #ruok that we need to think about... 04.01.2022 You're one decision away from a different life I was listening to @emilyosmond podcast today and this analogy came up in the conversation and it really had me thinking about the sliding door moment that led me to where I am today. For me, it was saying yes to an opportunity that took me RIGHT out of my comfort zone, but it led me to meeting an incredible group of women and the work I now do today ... So, I'm curious, have you experienced this? Have you had that moment where you made a decision that changed your entire life? It was a birthday present I'd given myself that covid got in the way of, but now that restrictions have eased, we're jumping on the window of freedom we have right now to go for it and capture this now monumentally strange time in our history The gorgeous family in this shot? The Renfrey tribe. @rebecca_renfrey_photographer i...s one of my dearest photog friends and it was such an honour to capture these shots for her literally the weekend before we were all sent into lockdown Trusting a fellow photographer to capture moments in time for your family is SUCH a precious and huge honour, one that I don't take lightly.
