12.01.2022 I really stepped outside my comfort zone with painting yesterday... for the first time I didn’t work from a photo... and I used a relatively restricted paint palette. It was that beautiful verse from the Elvis Presley song that inspired me to paint Belongil Creek running into the Bay - Like a river flows surely to the sea, darling so it goes, some things are meant to be. It’s amazing how my tuition with Atelier By Dominique Sutton has helped me incredibly... Yesterday we w...ere taught about colour and tone using only 2 paint colours (AMAZING revelation for me) and at one point in the class I was referring to a photograph to paint, and Dom was like you don’t need that, you can put that away... So then this gave me the confidence to go home and paint without referring to a photograph for the first time. FOR SALE email - [email protected] I’m excited, after almost a year of painting, to finally be painting from my mind and my emotions rather than a photograph... In the early 1980s I grew up in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria just outside of Melbourne, and experienced first hand the devastation of the Ash Wednesday fires... When I was a little girl I had a reoccurring dream that lasted around 6 years... I’ve always wanted to paint this dream because it still is so real to me... in the dream I was left at home alone by my family on a hot summer night... the wind was blowing a hot north wind and the sky was on fire... this is the first of a series I am going to paint about my dream. x
