26.01.2022 The children in the Kinder 2 last month were having a discussion about things that make us feel happy and what we can do for others in our family and community to spread happiness. We received some postcards from Maroondah City Council and Arts in Maroondah reflecting their 'postcards of kindness' initiative. The children wanted to make their own to send out. The children used the postcards as inspiration and recreated them and drew what made them feel happy using a range of different mediums. We then jump on google maps and looked at the local community map, the children each chose an address they wanted to send it to which included acknowledging the local Aboriginal land that the house was on. This is going to be an ongoing project that we are going to have within the service to build a connection with the local community.

Our lovely local Bayswater Amcal+ Pharmacy has sent us over some Easter color in sheets for your children to get creative with and go into the draw to win one of these amazing Easter raffle. They will be available in our reception area for you to collect on the way out. All entries need to be dropped back at Amcal by Thursday next week :)

21.01.2022 Yesterday we received a beautiful package with some sunflower seeds for our children to grow as part of the 'Garden of Wellbeing' project. The kinder 2 children have been talking in the room about planting sunflowers so this opportunity came along at the perfect to extend on those conversations. Today children from both Kinder rooms helped replant some vegetables to another space and in the existing space made room for the sunflowers. The children were very excited to use the trowel and hands to dig holes and watch the soil tablets expand in the water before putting the seeds in. We are very excited to see the progress of the flowers growing and we will post updates :) #sunflowereffectproject #gardenofwellbeing

19.01.2022 We will be celebrating Children's Book week all next week. Children are invited to dress up in their favourite book costume. This years theme is 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds' https://www.betterreading.com.au//curious-creatures-wild/.

18.01.2022 Council has now organised four 'Shower and Power' sites for this weekend, for residents who need hot showers or charging facilities. They are: Lilydale Heig...hts Secondary College, 17-19 Nelson Road, Lilydale Yarra Junction Sporting Pavilion, 2435 Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction Yarra Glen Memorial Hall, 45 Bell St, Yarra Glen (NO shower facilities, charging facilities and triage only) Belgrave Community Hub, 1616/1624 Burwood Highway, Belgrave These facilities will be available from 8am-8pm on Saturday and Sunday. Residents will need to bring their own towel and toiletries. At the Lilydale site, a staff member will be able to assist anyone who may be seeking emergency accommodation. Please pass this information on to anyone who may not be able to see it, who you feel may need it.

12.01.2022 Hello families next Wednesday the 26th we are hosting Australia's biggest morning tea at our service. There will be lots of yummy food that the children are going to be making for the parents to eat on the way to work, school or home.

12.01.2022 This year Nido Bayswater North is participating in the premier's reading challenge. Between now and the end of term 3 the children in the service will be reading books that support the development of literacy skills and if we read a certain number of books, all children who participate, get a certificate from the premier.
