25.01.2022 Anzac Day is fast approaching, and this year, the Kindy Room decided to gift a care package to our active soldiers overseas. Miss Kate and Miss Hannah lead the children on an excursion to our local Coles, where resources were purchased for our special gift. Once back in their room, the Kindy children took great pride in decorating their box with their names and beautiful drawings for the soldiers. At Caversham, we take pride in acknowledging the soldiers who work so hard for our wonderful country. Every amount of effort counts, and our Kindys gift was the result of hard work, care and love.
24.01.2022 A celebration of diversity at Caversham Late last year we held a family event in order to celebrate the diversity within our Nido community. A big thank you to all the families and staff who were apart of this amazing project!

21.01.2022 Dear Nido families and Caversham community members, WA has entered a 5 day lockdown due to a positive community transmission of Covid-19. At this stage, Nido Caversham has been deemed an essential service, so will be trading as normal for essential workers only.... Masks are mandatory when you leave your home from 6pm tonight. All parents, children over the age of 12 years and educators will be required to wear a mask to enter the service. We understand that this may be a little strange or unfamiliar to some children, so we encourage you to please talk to them beforehand about what this means. As of Monday 1/02/21, all children are to be dropped off in the foyer and we ask that guardians please not move past the front reception. Our team will take the children to their rooms. Temperature checks will be recorded for all staff, children and families entering the service. No tours, orientations or walk in’s will be accepted during the 5 day lockdown. We will send a further update as more information comes to hand. We ask that you please be respectful and patient with our team during these unprecedented times. Be safe, Nido Caversham Team

15.01.2022 This week is Road Safety Week. To extend on our childrens learning, the Midland Police Department officers visited the Kindy room children at Early School Caversham. The children learned about safety when crossing the road, the importance of looking left and right, as well as the meanings behind the different traffic light colours. After receiving high fives and handshakes from the policemen, the Kindy children were lucky enough to see the blue and red police lights and hear the loud police siren as our special visitors left. We encourage you all to speak to your children about Road Safety as we work together to keep our children safe.
14.01.2022 Happy Chinese New Year! To celebrate the Year of the Pig and incorporate the diverse cultures of our children, families and Educators, Nido Caversham has spent the week exploring traditional Chinese culture. Our Nursery 1 children have listened to traditional Chinese music, Nursery 2 made their own Chinese New Year paintings, our Toddlers ate their spaghetti with chopsticks, our Pre-Kinder's made beautiful fortune cookies and our Kindy children made their own Chinese fans. Today, our Toddlers were treated to a dragon dance by Miss Ramila, with a beautiful dragon head made by the Pre-Kinder children. These experiences allowed our children to understand and respect diversity, as well as gave them an in depth look at the cultures of the world.

11.01.2022 As we remember this week, we invite you to share an Australian tradition with the little ones in the kitchen. These golden cookies are often the first recipe that a lot of Aussie kids learn to bake. An evolution from the original hardtack biscuit that became a staple for soldiers for centuries; the Anzac biscuit upholds the tradition of using ingredients that dont readily spoil. The simple melt, mix, shape, and bake nature of these cookies makes them perfect for young hands.... This week is about retelling history for the children at Nido, and the Anzac biscuit is a symbol of the spirit and sacrifice of the soldiers who inspired the name. Lest we forget.

07.01.2022 Nido Caversham recently hosted a family night, which allowed the Educators to discuss the learning and development that each child has achieved in the past six months. The night was immensely beneficial for both families and Educators, as goals were made for the future, and invaluable feedback was given to guide the Educators with their practices and planning for the rest of 2019. Many laughs were shared throughout the night, and parents were excited to attend, as some parents commented, their first parent-teacher interview!
