23.01.2022 HORSE RESCUED FROM PEAT BOG IN UPPER COLO Tonight, Hawkesbury SES and the Upper Colo Rural Fire Brigade successfully rescued a 20year + horse called ‘Jack’ from... a very muddy peat bog. The gelding was well and truely stuck - with only its head and a small portion of its back visible. As soon as anyone tried to step out onto, what looked like a dry surface, sunk up over their knees in a very thick pasty mud. A special rescue plastic sheet (Rescue Glide) was laid over the muddy surface and allowed our rescue operators to get out to the horse and rig it to be pulled back to the shore. With a huge effort ‘Jack’ was pulled sideways - up and out of the mud - and onto the Rescue Glide. Vet, Tony from Hawkesbury Equine Clinic, gave ‘Jack’ a light sedation and with a little bit more manoeuvring, was moved away from mud. Jack was soon standing and was led up the hill for a nice wash down courtesy of the Upper Colo 9 tanker. A great outcome on a very difficult rescue. Doug Wiggins

22.01.2022 This is a racehorse iv been working on with sigafoo glue on shoes an is also on hoof gold which is a feed supplement for horse's feet which I highly recommend. The horse had very thin soles an no hoof wall was always foot saw or showing lameness. This is his near side front an is his 4th shoeing an has raced 4 times being shoed this way for great results.

05.01.2022 Hi everyone, I am able to keep working due to being an essential animal welfare service. During this difficult time I am implementing a series of measures to keep us all safe whilst maintaining as normal a service as possible. Below is a series of measures I am taking to ensure your welfare and limit the spread of Covid 19, along with a list of things you can do to make the implementation of this easier.... What I am doing Following government social distancing advice My STRONG preference would be that you DO NOT attend the appointment ESPECIALLY if in a high-risk category Badly behaved horses will be low priority (Our Emergency rooms don’t need any extra patients) I will be carrying antibacterial hand wash and will thoroughly wash hands on arrival and departure No tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits etc (until it all passes, then feel free to make up for lost time!!) I am regularly monitoring my health and the health of my family. And will notify of any changes. What you can do Please keep me updated on any changes in your health and do not attend if experiencing Covid-19 symptoms Wash your hands before handling your horse, its halter and lead rope I request that you give me permission to help myself to your horses at appointments so that you do not have to be in attendance If you insist on being in attendance, please adhere to social distancing advice With these measures in place I will continue to work as normal on the grounds of animal welfare. If the situation changes then I will adapt my working protocol to suit where possible or provide cover in the worst-case scenario. If any clients have concerns, please be open with me, I understand this is an unprecedented time we are going through. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe. Micheal Niemann.
