08.01.2022 Today on behalf of the City of Albury RSL Sub-Branch I had the pleasure of handing to Mark Bartleson the original plaque recognising his uncle, John Henry Bartl...eson, who died in WW1. The plaque had been at ground level at the Albury War Memorial (the "Monument") with all the others for Albury citizens who died as a result of their military service from the Boer War onwards. The plaques were recently replaced with new ones in an elevated and more appropriate setting as part of the refurbishment of the Memorial. Given that his son, John Henry, had died in WW1 it was thought appropriate that Thomas Henry Bartleson - Mark's grandfather - be given the contract to build the Memorial. If you have yet to visit the refurbished Memorial please do so. It has a stunning aura at night when it is illuminated and appears as a beacon of light reaching towards the heavens. Lest We Forget
