25.01.2022 Another fun day today working on our new GP Midget build. Beautiful work by Jay and Dean bringing the custom stainless steel exhaust system to life. It’s a real test of their skills to get a cool design that works efficiently and fits the tight demands of the chassis. Jay’s fabricating creativity and Deans fabrication and welding mastery are giving us an awesome result. Meanwhile Wally demonstrated his many talents and experience when assisting me in getting the bonnet fibre...glass mold done. Next step is to pop it and create the part. Hopefully we have done our work carefully and we’ll have a nice mold to work from. That will be revealed in a day or two. Mal, in addition to his usual role directing proceedings jumped on the lathe and produced a couple of beaut steering arms to fit our Hyper steering box, not to mention cooking up a storm for a fantastic bbq lunch. All in all a good day and good progress. Dean was all ready to finish up the custom seat today but with all the other activity time ran short. Thanks to all for the multitasking and lending a hand on the exhausts, steering and body mold. See more

24.01.2022 Another commissioned artwork underway. This time a 1977 HZ wagon with a few mods. Will be finished in the original holden Beige which should look cool. This is an early sketch to set out the basics.

21.01.2022 First coat of wax this morning preparing the mold for the final part which is the top section of the bonnet. Only 6 more coats to go.

16.01.2022 The team have had a week off the new GP build which has given me some time to get a few bits n pieces done to help keep the ball rolling. The custom sump being fabricated and beautifully welded for the ZX10 by Jay Hall and Dean Petley has been waiting for a bottom plate. Nick Foster from CNC Bits at Calga on the Central Coast has been fantastic and has come forward to machine a custom base to perfectly fit Jay and Dean’s handy work. More CNC bits to come soon courtesy of Nick. Also, I’ve been at it reshaping the plug for the rear bodywork. It needed adjusting by taking a few inches out of the centre and rejoining, and shaping. Just needs a final coat of high build primer, final sand and then it’s off to Dean and Evan at Thomas Fibreglass for mould and part production. Our progress is steady and continues this weekend.

12.01.2022 Sometimes experiments work and then, well, sometimes they don’t....

10.01.2022 Good progress yesterday on the GrizzlyEVO. Jay’s work on the exhaust system is looking great and I kept working on preparing the front bonnet bodywork for fibreglass mold production. Also we were relived to fit the new output shaft part machined up Otemac Engineering. It fits like a glove and marks another major milestone in this bespoke car design. Thanks also to Faye who kept us going in the cold weather with a warm lunch.

07.01.2022 Another good day working on progressing the rear end on the new GrizzlyEVO GP Midget. Jay got the outside rear suspension mount sorted and locked up the rear suspension setup. Mal, Wally and I mocked up the final jack shaft details including the brackets to hold all in place. Much thought and trial and error has gone into coming up with a final design but we now have all signed off so production of the real part starts next week with Otemac Engineering at Granville. Jerry, ow...ner of the company is an expert in the art of internal and external splines as well as all matters in manufacturing specialised machined parts. He has a good understanding of our project and we look forward to seeing his finished product shortly for our build. Dean wasn’t on-site today but was hard at work on our custom containment seat for the chassis. Looking forward also to seeing his excellent handy-work. All in all, we continued to progress along our way towards completion. The problem solving that is required has been a real challenge but also a satisfying element of this build. As we have no road map to follow, we are finding our way step by step. Next week could see the coming together of the complete rear end and engine mounting which has been our biggest task so far. Hoping also that Phil recovers quickly from the injured back to keep the various machining tasks going. Thanks guys for all your efforts. See more

05.01.2022 Another big day for the team working on our new Grizzly EVO GP Chassis. It was great to have Billy Roberts drop in first thing to lend his valuable knowledge to a few of our engineering dilemas. Focus was on the back end suspension, engine location and seat position. After some wise words from Bill the boys jumped on the tools and got down to locking in the engine position and finalising the rear end chassis work. We also started on the development of the unique engine mount c...radle design which drew plenty of debate for the team, but we settled on what we think will be a decent design. Thanks to Jay, Phil, Dean and Mal for a great days work. Also was good to see Wally who made it over after his trip last night to Nowra pedalling the #14 GP. His advice and knowledge has been a great help to us all. As we are making up much of the practicalities as we go, it’s really valuable to have such an experienced bunch to bounce ideas off. Lastly a big thanks to Nick Foster owner of CNC Bits at Calga on the Central Coast who has done some fine work for us in producing our specifically designed parts for our little project. thanks Nick. All in all, a good day in progressing the project. See more

03.01.2022 A recent commission for a Christmas present. The young recipient is an EH fan and has a goal of one day owning a blue/white wagon. Word is he is very happy with his gift.

03.01.2022 Some more body work stuff been going on while we have a break from the build. This will be the pattern I have created for the top section of the bonnet. Next step is to produce the mould then the final part in fibreglass. Thanks to the boys at Dicker’s Smash Repsir Gosford for the excellent two-pack spray job today to give the pattern a final top coat. Looking forward to getting onto the glassing this weekend. Also Dean Petley brought out the custom seat for some last minute sizing and adjustments. The final product isn’t far away now.

02.01.2022 Some Custom engraving on Brass, Aluminium & Stainless Steel along with a pair of sprocket protectors for a client #cncbits #engraving #cnc #fusion360cam #fusion360 #Autodesk #madeinaustrailabyakiwi #madeinaustralia #instamachinist

02.01.2022 Been a long time between drinks as the build program of our new speedway concept has dominated my time. A bit of a break over Christmas for the team while we await some bits n pieces to arrive has given me a few moments to get the pens out and start on a few new artwork ideas. Hope to get one or two of these finished up this week before we get back into the real job of building a race car. Anyone spot the speedway legend amongst the sketches?

02.01.2022 Some great new parts for our new GP Midget project machined up by Nick at CNC Bits Central Coast. Excellent product, fast turnaround at a really reasonable price. Thanks Nick.
