23.01.2022 WHAT IS THE NEW NANNY 'NORMAL'? What a year 2020 has been with COVID19 and the challenges that have come along with that. Nannies have faced a different work life, with some nannies not being able to work due to restrictions, some losing their jobs, some nannies choosing not to work and nannies supporting essential workers and vulnerable families. ... We applaud our nanny community for their efforts in adapting to these changes so well and supporting each other. At times there has been confusion with the ever changing rules and restrictions but we have managed to work through these together. Now that we have faced these challenges head on and have started to adapt what does the new nanny 'normal' look like in the future? 20.01.2022 It's arts and crafts day! Today we are going to create: Easy and Colorful Jellyfish Suncatcher Kids Craft Supplies:... Tissue Paper Black Construction Paper Scissors Contact Paper Ribbon Directions: First take your tissue paper and cut it into squares. Then using the black construction paper draw the shape of your jellyfish and then cut out the middle sot hat you then have a black jellyfish frame. Cut a piece of contact paper that is larger than your jellyfish, remove the protective sheet and tape the contact paper on top of a table with the sticky side facing up. Place the black jellyfish outline down on the sticky side of the contact paper and then you can start placing the tissue paper squares. Don’t worry about the paper going over the black lines, you’ll be cutting around that when you’re done. Take another sheet of contact paper and place it down on top of your jellyfish to seal it, then trim around it. I left about an inch around the edges to make sure that it would stay sealed. Finally cut some decorative ribbon and tape it to the back of your jellyfish. Source: https://www.iheartartsncrafts.com/suncatcher-jellyfish-kid/

17.01.2022 Did you know? It's normal for newborns to lose weight Some breastfeeding mums worry that if their newborns lose weight in the first few days, it means they're not getting enough breastmilk. This isn't true.... In the first few days after your baby's born it's normal for her to lose between five and 10 per cent of her body weight. Most babies get back to their birth weight by the time they're about two weeks old. https://www.babycenter.com.au//15-surprising-baby-facts-ph

14.01.2022 Hmm, which one?

14.01.2022 It's Arts and Crafts Day! Poke A Pumpkin is a really simple game for little ones, and even more simple to put together. Here is what you need. 1 large poster board or project board... Solo Cups Orange and Green Tissue Paper Rubber bands Small Treats and Toys Construction Paper to decorate your board (optional) To make your game, hot glue your solo cups on the board in the shape of your pumpkin. Make sure you have at least 1 cup for each kid. Fill the cups with small treats and toys. I did little hand stamps, Halloween bracelets, candy, vampire teeth, etc. When you finish filling your cups, place a piece of tissue paper over the cup and secure with a rubber band. You can decorate your board if you want to as well. When it’s time to play the game, the kids line up and take turns poking/punching through 1 cup and they get the prizes inside. Super simple and the kids had so much fun! Source: https://www.projectwhim.com/?p=2029

10.01.2022 Did you know? Babies will sleep, on average, 5400 hours in the first year. Considering there are only 8760 hours in a year, this seems like A LOT! But remember, babies sleep only a few hours at a time, especially during the first three months. And this is only an estimate. Every baby is different and many don’t get the memo that they need to sleep this much (and for 8 hours at a time).... Source: https://www.pbcexpo.com.au//16-incredibly-cool-facts-about

05.01.2022 Its Arts and Crafts Day! Today we are going to learn how to make: Tissue Paper Painting Bleeding Color Art Activity... Materials: Tissue paper squares Watercolor panel Water Spray bottle (or paintbrush) Crayon (optional) Instructions: Choose whether youd like to use the crayon resist for your project. If so, first you will draw a design (words, patterns, etc) with white crayon on the watercolor panel. This design will show up after you apply the squares. NOTE: Because you are drawing white on white, your drawing wont be visible until the final step. Pre-wet the watercolor panel by spraying it with a spray bottle filled with water. You can also choose to use a paintbrush if youd like. Apply the tissue paper squares randomly or in a planned arrangement. We recommend spraying or painting some more water over the squares to accelerate the color bleeding. For best results, allow the water to dry before removing the squares. Once you remove the squares, the color will have transferred onto the watercolor panel, revealing your drawing and the color from the squares! 02.01.2022 It's Arts and Crafts Day! Today we are going to make: Sponge Sailboat Craft for Kids What you need... Sponges -Used Ocelo brand, and they were 4.5 x 3 x 1/2 Wood Skewers -used 8 skewers but 12 is fine construction paper scissors wire cutters glue Directions: Trim your sponges with scissors. Green was trimmed in thirds Pink & Yellow cut in half Purple cut in half lengthwise (see notes) For the Green sponges, cut the skewer with the wire cutter to about 5.5 in length. For all other sponges, use the full size, 8 skewer. Create sails buy cutting triangles out of construction paper. If desired, Fold a small piece of construction paper in half and cut a triangle out on the fold. Glue the fold together on the top of the skewer. Poke the skewer into the sponge so that it goes through the other side at least 1. Remove the skewer. Poke a hole at the top of the construction paper triangle, along the long edge, and poke the skewer through the paper. Keep the skewer about 1/2 to 3/8 from the edge of the paper. Your sail does not have to be taunt on the skewer, it can bend. Push the skewer with the sail through the hole in your sponge. Adjust the sail as necessary and sail away. To sail. Place the boat into the water and let the sponge absorb water before letting go. You’ll need to adjust the skewer up and down through the sponge and adjust the sail for optimal sailing. Note: They all tipped over at some point. And the sails got wet. But they still worked fine. It works best if the skewer pokes through the bottom of the sponge about 1-2. Clearly you can experiment with this! The purple boat was the worst. Two masts and it never did officially stand up! It kept toppling over. You may want to omit, unless you have a determined child in the group. Source: https://www.easypeasyandfun.com/sponge-sailboat-craft-for-/
