25.01.2022 I'm working on a 10 part video series highlighting some great locations for shooting nightscape photography in Tasmania. I've just returned from a 3 week adventure and all I can say is .. wow. This video shows a taste of what I got up to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R60TcuAkiN4

23.01.2022 5 Methods to Capture Nightscape Images During my nightscape photography journey I've employed various methods to shoot the night sky and landscape. In this video I'll explain the 5 methods I use in detail and hopefully that helps you to get a better understanding of my process both in the field and in editing for each one. See video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGIJK170bfc

23.01.2022 "The Road Ahead - 2021" I'm looking forward to 2021. It's a new beginning and with that there will be challenges and obstacles but I consider it a journey, very much like travelling a winding road in the middle of the night. You can only see what's right in front of you ... what's just around the next bend ..?? Who knows, but it may well be something glorious. This is a single shot taken with the Nikon Z6 & Nikon 14-24 f2.8S lens. I'm testing it out for a while whilst on loan from Nikon Australia.

22.01.2022 Another wonderful group of nightscape photographers enjoying shooting under the stars. Thanks so much for your great company guys.

22.01.2022 My Best Nightscape Images of 2020 As we approach the end of 2020 I wanted to show you my favourite images captured this year. I put these into a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKAEJMDYrK0 It was so difficult to cull them down to a top 12 ..!!! Originally I was going to do a top 10 but I just had to squeeze in a couple more. Thanks so much for your wonderful support and encouragement throughout 2020 . .I couldn't do it without you.

21.01.2022 "I Show Your Images" In todays video I'll be featuring quite a few photos sent in by subscribers to my youtube channel. There are some cracking images in there. Thanks so much for your great support. https://www.youtube.com/watch

20.01.2022 "Summer Evening Panorama" There may be no milky way core visible at the moment but that doesn't stop us from shooting some amazing nightscape images. I just love these old dead trees and when you add in the Magellanic Cloud as well as the Southern Cross .. just wow. Nikon Z6 Nikon 14-24 f2.8S 6 shot panorama

20.01.2022 Tasmania - Bay of Fires under Cloudy Skies You can see the second episode of my recent Tasmanian road trip here where I visit the wonderful Bay of Fires area. It's such a magnificent landscape and I enjoyed every moment there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jegMNn9Yxzo

20.01.2022 "Geminid Meteor over the Old Mine" I spent most of the night trying to capture some of the Geminid meteors this week. I saw quite a few but many were in a different direction from where I was pointing the camera. I was lucky enough to get this one over the old abandoned mine site. 18.01.2022 Low Head Lighthouse This was the first nightscape image I shot during my recent Tasmanian road trip. I was intrigued with the beauty of this location and enjoyed every minute of my time there. There were little fairy penguins all over the place and I had to be very careful not to step on any of them as I wandered around in the dark. Rotating lighthouse beams are notoriously difficult to capture so I had to keep the shutter speed very short to enable this. Nikon Z6 Nikon 20m...m f1.8S 4 x Sky @ f1.8 1 sec iso6400 8 x Foreground @ f5 5 sec iso800 See more

17.01.2022 "Enchanting Lighthouses" - Tasmania Photography Journey You can tune in to see the first episode of my Tasmanian road trip adventure here on the youtube channel. I loved sharing this experience with a multitude of fairy penguins. Love to read your comments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hw8BDhfWoLY

16.01.2022 Nightscape Photography 2021 - Q&A In today's video I've finally been able to complete my long awaited Nightscaspe Images Q&A. Happy New Year to you all and I hope it's a great one and you can all get back out there under the stars soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y49zN0B2QRo&t=2s

14.01.2022 "Bay of Fires on a Gloomy Night" On my recent stop over at Sloop Reef at the Bay of Fires in Tasmania I was frustrated by a thick cloud cover whilst shooting nightscapes. So I decided to try some different ideas incorporating extra long exposures to highlight the beautiful colour in the rocks and sea. There is absolutely no light painting here .. in fact it was very dark indeed. All the light is ambient and natural. Nikon Z6 Nikon 20mm f1.8S... 3 x Shots stacked @ f1.8 120 sec iso1600 See more

13.01.2022 "Sloop Reef - Milky Way Rising" I was able to find a clear sky to shoot the milky way rising over Sloop Reef which is a gorgeous little spot located on the Bay of Fires region, north east Tasmania. Everywhere you look you'll see wonderful compositions amongst the large boulders. I liked these trees as a foreground point of interest as well. Once again I'm utilizing extra long exposure foreground shots mixed with the more traditional shorter exposure times for the sky. Nikon ...Z6 Nikon 20mm f1.8S 10 x Sky @ f2.8 15 sec iso6400 3 x Foreground @ f1.8 120 sec iso1600 See more

13.01.2022 "Geminid Meteor Hunt" I spent a night out under the stars recently hunting Geminid Meteors. They are certainly elusive little blighters but I did manage to capture a few. You can follow my adventure in the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Jn4NI36CL0 This old mine site proved to be a wonderful location to shoot the night sky whilst waiting for the meteors to show. Nikon Z6 Nikon 20mm f1.8S Stacked & Blended image

11.01.2022 "Orion over the Barn" I just loved watching the constellation Orion set over this old barn recently. It was a lovely clear night and so I decided to place the old gig just in front of the shed to become the main point of interest. This is a focal blend image with the sky shot at 35mm and the foreground at 20mm Nikon Z6 Nikon 20mm f1.8S & Nikon 35mm f1.8S Sky x 10 Tracked @ f2.8 120 sec iso500... Foreground x 15 @ f5 10 sec iso500 See more

11.01.2022 "Australian Hay Shed" I just love this view of the rising milky way core next to an iconic Australian Hay Shed. There are lots of these all around the country and this one has certainly seen better days. But it's still doing the job. Nikon Z6 Nikon 20mm f1.8S 10 x Sky stacked @ f2.8 10 sec iso6400... Foreground x 10 @ f5 10 sec iso500 See more

06.01.2022 "Beerbarrel Beach - Tasmania" This beautiful place is part of the world famous Bay of Fires area on the east coast of Tasmania. I spent some time there recently shooting nightscapes. This particular image is a 20 shot panorama made up of 2 separate panos. One for the sky and the other for the foreground. My reason for separating the areas is to enable a longer exposure on the foreground elements to bring out the detail. This image and many others from this location will be f...eatured in a couple of weeks on my youtube channel as part of my Tasmanian road trip series. Nikon Z6 Nikon 20mm f1.8S 20 shot panorama 10 x Sky @ f2.8 15 sec iso6400 10 x Foreground @ f2.8 120 sec iso1600 See more
