22.01.2022 Celebrating the Cassowary today! What amazing animals!

21.01.2022 This is little Tubenose Bat Sage. She’s been rescued of barbed wire this afternoon. She’s very lucky to have been spotted by a kind little girl. Sage has got a few little holes in her wing, which will heal in 2-3 weeks. She had fluids and will be spoiled with juicy fruit. Fingers crossed for this little darling.

21.01.2022 We had a Heat Stress Event in Port Douglas today. This means when the temperatures reach 39 degrees the bats will drop dead. The fire brigade came and misted them to cool off a bit. Port Douglas Fire & Rescue - QFES They’re legends. Thank god no bats dropped, but we have another very hot day tomorrow. Fingers crossed they can handle another day like this.

19.01.2022 I would like to introduce our two new additions to NightWings. Meet Crumpet and Midget, baby bats rescued from the colony at the library in Cairns. They are orphans and will be cared for lovingly here at NightWings for a few months until they will be released and have a second chance of life in the wild.

19.01.2022 I love the information about the Spectacled Flying Fox that Rainforest Rescue just put up. The bats are adorable creatures and the main animal we care for at NightWings.

16.01.2022 A B S O L U T E L Y fabulous! What a great achievement for our region! Just another great reason to visit!... #NighteingsRainforestCentre #EcoTourismDestination

16.01.2022 Early days of planting with Rainforest Rescue

14.01.2022 This tree planting happened on the 4.May 2019. Over 100 people helped to restore rainforest on the land of NightWings. A little success when you consider that LOTS OF TREES can combat climate change.

05.01.2022 We are so proud to host another tree planting event this year along with Rainforest Rescue, especially after the success of last year! We hope to see you there! #NightwingsRainforestCentre #RainforestRescue

04.01.2022 Marty Stringer is a film star. He’s won the Audience Award with his little movie Growing A Rainforest Community which was mostly filmed on the NightWings planting day last year. Thanks Marty Stringer. You’re a legend.

02.01.2022 https://youtu.be/xgfMca8cZrM We’re so happy to post an update on what has happened on the land of NightWings since the beginning in 2016. Approximately 55000 trees planted. The public tree planting was a huge success with over 100 people planting rainforest. We’re grateful about all the support from Rainforest Rescue and the volunteers planting over 3000 trees that day. Making history!!! Enjoy and share please Big thanks to Martin Stringer Film & Photography for the amazing footage and editing.

01.01.2022 Little Sage (Eastern Tubenose Bat) is definitely on the mend. Munching away on fruit and smoothie. Her injuries are minimal, which is not always the case with barbed wire accidents. It kills so much wildlife every year. Please, if you find an animal caught on barbed wire, call your nearest wildlife rescue group for help. If it’s a bat, please don’t touch. Only vaccinated carers can handle bats.
