10.01.2022 Hey guys, probably sick of this mug, but here I am again this time with a little bit of info for y’all I have been trying to stay productive during this time and I have been working on creating a more sustainable salon Now as much as I absolutely die for foils and creating amazing tones, the aftermath kills me.... I use 150-250 foils per head and I am unfortunately contributing to the 1million kilos of foil that the hairdressing industry produces each year. To dispose and recycle such a large amount, it takes the same amount of energy as 800 homes, pumping a crazy amount of carbon dioxide into the air Unfortunately I am yet to find an alternative to foils, but there is a way to minimise the effort and resources needed to recycle the foil. By scrunching the foil up into globes the size of a tennis ball or larger; the machine is able to sort the aluminium a lot more easily, thus using less energy You guys can help and do this at home too! You might not think it, but 1 person can make a difference and any sustainable changes help!! You might notice a few little changes around The Lab and if you have any suggestions to help make the salon more sustainable, please feel free to let me know! We must help preserve this gorgeous place we call home for our future babies and fur babies xx @ The Lab

06.01.2022 LET’S TALK ABOUT MAINTENANCE I always talk about ‘low maintenance colours’ in The Labbut what does this mean? In the photos above, I’ve got the gorgeous Maddie and I’m going to use her as an example.... Maddie had only coloured her hair once before as the first step to going blonde (the photos are of her second service) We did a full head of super fine babylights/toner/treatment/cut/style which took 5 hours (she has a crap tonne of hair). This will last between 3-4 months Maddie will come back for a toner and refresh in 6-8 weeks, this will mellow out any brassy tones and refresh the hair to look like this again I always suggest my clients book in for a toner in between lightening services as this breaks up the time between lightening and helps keep the hair feeling fab you’ll be surprised at the difference it makes I design my colours to be tailored to my clients needs, hair type and their schedule. Each service is personalised and I want to be able to offer services that means clients can save precious time and money. Now this was obviously well before stage 4 restrictions came into play, so her regrowth will be intense.
