25.01.2022 Flaxseed - natures wonder food for women Flaxseed is something we should all think about incorporating into our diet daily, especially when we are heading into... our menopausal years. It has so many benefits from being high in soluble fibre and lignans (which contain phytoestrogens) to being rich in omega-3 fatty acid. Both the oil and the crushed seed can help to reduce cholesterol, moderate blood sugar levels, treat inflammatory diseases and also help with digestive conditions (by feeding the beneficial bacteria). Research has shown flaxseed can benefit people with heart conditions and can help lower high blood pressure. Vitamins and minerals it provides includes: B1 ( metabolism and nerve function), copper (essential for growth, development and various bodily functions), molybdenum (essential nutrient as it is a cofactor for enzymes), magnesium ( used for over 300 functions in the body) and phosphorus ( bone and tissue health). Not too shabby!! And my favourite of all is to help reduce hot flushes and night sweats in women during the peri to menopausal years. It is recommended to consume 2-3 tablespoons (freshly crushed) daily in smoothies, on cereal or in your cooking to get the benefits of this seed for hot flushes and night sweats. It is a good idea to work your way up slowly as flaxseeds can also be a natural laxative. Not saying you will see the hot flushes disappear overnight but making flaxseed part of your daily routine will definitely reduce the severity and you will also gain from all the other benefits this humble seed provides as well. Always take with plenty of water as flaxseed swells due to its mucilaginous properties. Flaxseed is not recommended in high doses for pregnant women or people taking blood thinners. Always consult your health practitioner regarding your individual health situation. Moderation in all things is the key.

24.01.2022 My Marshmallow Sweet Glycerites are ready. Instead of using alcohol as a solvent , I have used Organic Vegetable Glycerine. Marshmallow (Althaea Officinalis) is excellent for inflammation of the GIT and Respiratory System. Great for relieving irritating coughs. And safe for kids. 19.01.2022 Lung Cleanser. 400gm garlic (about 10 cloves) 5 slices of fresh ginger 2 tsp turmeric 400gm raw sugar... Peel garlic and dice into cubes and place in a pot of 1 litre of water with ginger slices. Add turmeric and sugar before the boil and leave to simmer for 20 -30 minutes. Let cool and take 2 tab morning and night. Keep decoction in the fridge. See more

04.01.2022 Anti coagulants and anti virals . Yes !! I put both in my herbal tonics. When the blood can not circulate properly through the body, the oxygen decreases and you can't breathe properly. Blood clotting is reduced with anti coagulants, which are in my herbal liquids. And when used as a preventative with anti viral herbs it may help to prevent the disease in the first place.
