25.01.2022 "This was my first time shooting sunrise at Bondi Icebergs as I'm usually heading to the Northern Beaches. I love the soft pastel colours of the ocean, pool and sky from that morning. To capture some of the movement in the water I went with a 5 second exposure on my D7500. The NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4 is currently my favourite lens as it provides enough flexibility when you can't move around a lot to capture a scene and a great all-rounder lens if I don't want to bring too muc...h gear." - Susanne Warlich Camera: Nikon D7500 Lens: AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR Settings: f/9 | 5s | ISO 100

22.01.2022 "When shooting an astro timelapse I wanted to use the in camera function instead of 3rd party software, which challenges me to get all my settings right in camera from contrast, white balance and exposure settings. Nothing beats remote areas in outback Australia for relaxing and starting at the stars." - Steven Morris Cameras: Nikon Z 7 and Z 5 Lenses: NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S and NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S

20.01.2022 "A last minute location change meant shooting at the Overseas Passenger Terminal and hoping some lightning came our way! This was my first time photographing lightning so I had read a Nikon School article on "How to Photograph Lightning" just minutes before I left the house. I started with the suggested settings of ISO 400, aperture of f/5.6 and decided to go with a 4 second shutter speed. Before I knew it the scene in front of us exploded with lightning and had me clicking... the shutter repeatedly to make sure I didn't miss a strike!" - Kanika Mediratta Camera: Nikon Z 7 Lens: NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Settings: f/5.6 | 4s | ISO 400

19.01.2022 "We arrived early to watch this small storm build up and move out at sea, hoping we would see something drop. A few internal flashes told us we were on. Then, just as the last light of sunset was producing some nice pink colour on the cloud tops, it threw out this fantastic cloud to ground strike, signalling what would be a great hour of shooting." - Will Eades Photography Camera: Nikon Z 7 Lens: AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR w/ FTZ Adaptor Settings: 70 mm | f/5.6 | 4s | ISO 320

17.01.2022 "I'm on my way home from a long day at the office, thunder starts to light up the sky. I make a left turn that takes me to my local beach, there's no way I'm going home now. I set up my camera to shoot lightning for the first time, tripod and shutter release are essential for longer shutter speeds. Adrenaline flows as lightning strikes all around me, I try not to slip on the unstable cliffs. Compositionally, I hunted around for the best foreground, that was my priority as al...ways. The take-home message is to seize every photo opportunity that presents itself, and always have your camera handy. You never know when you might just need it." - Emmanuel Smith Camera: D7200 Lens: AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED-IF Settings: f/5.6 | 30s | ISO 100

14.01.2022 I’ve been so lucky to be able to use the Nikon Z 5. It has been really good to get to experiment with a different camera. The camera worked very well in many different situations, ranging from 30 second exposures to fast shutter speed dance photos. I’ve been really impressed with the cameras versatility and ability to capture scenes. It has also coped really well with many different weather conditions and was able to withstand the effects of moisture really well." - Willstp...hotography Camera: Nikon Z 5 Lens: NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3

13.01.2022 "I absolutely loved the Z 5. Firstly, it is a much lighter camera meaning that I was able to get the shots that I wanted very quickly. The images were also super clear through the view finder. Another great aspect is how quiet the camera is. It was incredibly easy to change the settings and understand everything that was being done." - Alex Raccanello Photography Don't forget to submit your Playcation entries by sending us a Private Message or by uploading to Instagram using... #NikonPlaycation and @nikonaustralia. 12.01.2022 "Butters Bridge had me beat the first few times I visited for a shoot. Either my composition was off or the weather unfavourable. On this occasion, I bagged the shot looking directly across the top whereas my previous attempts had been from afar. I am fairly new to photography and coming from a D3400 the Z 6 makes things a lot easier in these tricky light situations. I love my camera and very excited about getting my hands on some more Z glass in the future!" - Andy May Camer...a: Nikon Z 6 Lens: NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Settings: f/11 | 1/5s | ISO 100 See more

11.01.2022 "Fog is always so elusive. I’ve always been amazed by the way that fog enhances an image. I loved the way these images turned out, it was a perfect mixture of fog and golden hour light, that created such an ethereal quality to the images. It was such a mesmerising scene and an absolute blessing to have the opportunity to witness this first hand. My favourite thing about the D850, besides it being an all rounded beast of a camera, is that I can go down to an ISO of 64. This en...ables me to capture crisp images with little noise to have to deal with, especially when it is paired with the niftiest of lenses, the AF-S NIKKOR 50MM F/1.8G. This lens is one my favourites as it is compact and yet delivers such smooth bokeh and depth of field. This duo is a match made in heaven that works for every subject matter." - Paul Pan Camera: Nikon D850 Lens: AF-S NIKKOR 50MM F/1.8G

07.01.2022 "After waiting out the low cloud that delayed our scenic flight all morning, we were finally given the all clear for take off. We landed on Tasman glacier and were able to get out to walk around and take some photos with the plane and helicopter. It was an amazing experience topped off by a return flight past the peak of Mt Cook where these textures caught my eye. It was a rainy day and I saw the train and light on the street still on so I tried to use the long exposure technique to take this." - Niwat Thepbunwit Camera: Nikon Z 6 Lens: AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED with FTZ Adapter Settings: f/16 | 4s | L1.0

05.01.2022 "We went to Mornington Peninsula to take Peregrine Falcon's flying photos for the first time. I had my shutter speed set up to the max so that I could freeze the motion. I saw a medium size bird flying towards us. It wasn't the falcon I was waiting for. It was a honeyeater, Singing Honeyeater. It made a U-turn after flying over us. I turned my camera around and took some shots. Autofocus was swift and latched onto the target straight away. It was against the light but I took... the shots anyway. I lifted the shadows in post-processing and was surprised to see the details the camera had captured. I was able to freeze the action and retrieved details. Love the shot and the pose." - Deepak Kumar Camera: Nikon D850 Lens: AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Settings: f/5.6 | 1/8000s | ISO 800

03.01.2022 "One of my favourite locations from my hometown of Phillip Island. It's a steady walk to the pinnacles being very careful not to damage the land on the way down. There wasn't much light left so long exposure techniques were needed. There were Shearwaters everywhere due to the season, so I had to factor that into the shot. The moon was right above the pinnacles and there was a nice rock to stand on in front. A few tests shots were made before taking this shot. I used the self... timer and selected 9 shots to be taken every second to get the image I was after. I had to stay very still to ensure I didn't blur in the image." - patricksflicks Camera: Nikon D810 Lens: AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f3.5-4.5 G Settings: f/13 | 6s | ISO 160

02.01.2022 "‘Pride Rock’ is an image I captured of a unique perspective of Lion Rock during the remnants of an incredibly intense sunrise. This was one of those frames where I just knew I loved it the moment I saw it on the back of my camera, and it’s still one of my favourite shots from my week in Tasmania last year. The side light was beautifully soft and textured, lighting up the rocks and sky perfectly. I was standing thigh deep in rushing water in order to capture this angle, but ...it was well worth it! The composition wouldn’t have been possible without the extra width of the 14-24mm lens." - Ben Maze Fine Art Camera: Nikon D750 Lens: AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8 Settings: f/11 | 1/3s | ISO 200

02.01.2022 "Most mornings, minutes after the sun has risen, I venture out into the dewy bush with my D800 in hand. I shoot fully manual but predict my settings walking out the door and quickly adjust for each exposure and specific composition. On this particular morning, the flowers had begun to fully bloom, the entire fence was sprinkled with flowers of all kinds. In all corners of my eye, I spotted an unusual figure centered in one of these flowers, so I gently approached. With macro ...photography sometimes time isn’t a given, you often don’t have that extra second to set up your tripod and get the framing just right, so I opt straight for handheld with the vibration stabilizer built into the lens. From someone who used to be petrified of all things bug-like, I urge myself to be patient and learn from my subjects." 02.01.2022 "I took this shot on a recent trip out to Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef. We were on a sunset dive when this beautiful green sea turtle appeared out of the blue. He didn't seem too phased by us and hung around the surface for a few minutes before taking a breath and heading back to the reef below. The water was the most amazing electric blue and the sun was just starting to set so the light was perfect." - Hannah Jessup Photography Camera: Nikon D850...
