25.01.2022 Back for 2021 Blake moonsnake Mooney The spiritual leader of the 2’s & a great bloke that has given the club a morale boost since joining us!... It’s not all about gun players- great blokes are just as important to our club & Blake is one of the best #57
23.01.2022 Dear Darno family, A lot of people have been wondering as to the capacity of my involvement within the club next year now that I have been elected as a Baw Baw shire councillor. I fully intend to resume my role as football club president next year if the committee deem appropriate at our AGM on the 20th of this month.... In uncertain times, stability will be our clubs best asset in advancing forward. I feel that we have made the right changes & have a formula to produce great results for our club- and I need to see this vision through. The people that have put so much into the club like Trish, Nev & Neil to name a few deserve success. Senior coach Matt Shorey is a bloke I would run through a brick wall for, and if I cut the mustard will do again. Our list is healthy, the vibe is high & we’re looking forward to producing some good footy. Upon confirming I will stay on, means the club will require more help than ever. There are a handful of easy going jobs that we will really need some help with. Time keepers, line markers, bar hands, canteen- all these little jobs that will take the pressure off at the top. It’s not just about the team on the field- it’s about the club as a whole driving our future success. We need as many as we can get to the AGM to help us succeed next year I have missed the place, the people & the game so much this year. I look forward to putting 2020 in the rear view & cracking into a solid pre season on & off the field for the club- come with me! Benny Lucas

22.01.2022 Last night we announced our senior leadership group for 2021! Congratulations to the following players- Captains ... Nick Murray Oxley Hudson Vice Captains Isacc Ketchen Casey Thomson We have all had an interrupted year and the playing group have shown true resilience through testing times. The club culturally has made some big steps in the last 2 years, even though results haven’t gone our way we are ready to go in 2021. I hope everyone has a fantastic Xmas and New Year and enjoy this time with family and friends. Watch out for the sleeping giant next year. Go Darnos Matt Shorey

19.01.2022 Club notes round 6 A grade remain undefeated in the netball with a draw against Traf last weekend. Unfortunately Stacey Lawry went down with an injury and we wish her a speedy recovery. The 2’s fought hard all day not giving up in terms of effort right to the final siren. Enough so that the boys received praise from the opposition coach. Just proves that you don’t always need 4 points to be winners- proud of the boys for that effort.... Similar situation with the Seniors. It was a relatively low scoring game with a fierce stalemate for much of the contest against a very well favoured Traf team. We had 5 nineteen year old boys in the side who keep showing more and more each week. Tanner Thomsen played his best game this season with outstanding tackle pressure all game. Cags, Casey, Meatball and young guns Blake Robbo and Blake Cann really stood out strong. However it was a very strong team effort from all 22. The signs are there and the vibe is still at a high. Big thanks to all of our volunteers who just keep working every week- Helen & Dougy Eccles cooking the meals every Thursday are absolute superstars! Big weekend at home to prove ourselves against Nyora. Make sure you get down to the function aswell tonight! Spotify shuffle, beer pong and heaps of drink specials! Best of luck! Benny Lucas Footy club president
19.01.2022 We are proud to announce that Chris Larosa & Matt Shorey have committed to another year with the Darno’s. Meatball will go around again as a playing assistant while Shorey will lead the club as head coach & no doubt have a kick with the 2’s throughout the year. These two have raised the bar since joining the club & we look forward to seeing all the hard work pay off in season 2021
18.01.2022 Club notes round 5 It’s great to see the netball club really showing the way with some fantastic results! A grade are 4 from 4 and should put on a good show against Traf this week. Hosting Neerim South at home last week the general vibe was that we didn’t meet our own expectations in either grade.... The boys tried hard in the 2’s but were out gunned by a pretty good outfit. Chedda played his best game for the year alongside Wrighty and Robbie who didn’t stop all day. Filthy Phil and jordy were also pretty solid. It didn’t feel or look like a 10 goal loss for the 1’s, however Neerim found scoring pretty easy so it seemed with a contrast of us fighting hard for our score. There were some really good signs there though and we look forward to bouncing back against the relatively unknown Traf side. Shaka, the Thomsen boys, Jedwah down back, Cags, Dyl Cann and Brigsy all had solid games. The signs are there and with our young side we feel like it’s only a matter of time! Dinner at the Commercial-Hotel Warragul at 6pm- get down there and support a fantastic sponsor Go Darno’s

16.01.2022 Congratulations to 3 of our junior netballers that have been selected in the 2021 EDNA rep teams. This is a huge achievement and we are very proud to have the young girls represent Nilma Darnum. Well done to all the girls that tried out, this is a great experience for our players.

07.01.2022 Round 4 Club notes Once again a massive well done to our netball club with wins in A,B,C & D grade against Yarragon. It was a tough and at times frustrating game for the 2’s who were just unable to get a run on against the panthers. It was a big day down back for the BOG and new bloke to the club Brendan Burger. Declan Taylor, Blake johns, Ben Giles and Luke Galley fought hard all day. Hopefully the boys can make up for it this week after a solid week on the track.... In the seniors it was a massive reward for effort, one that we knew was just around the corner. The belief in this group and the vibe at the club is extraordinary. Clay Ketchen helped us to a 70 point win with a solid 10 goals. The team work it took to get it to him was great to watch. It was hard to pick bests however with Nick Carrigy offering first use to Jack Ruddel and co in the centre all day he’s hard to look past. Casey Thomsen was once again our rock in defence all day. The best thing about our senior group is the five home grown boys that played in our under 18 side of 2019. Blake Robert’s really stood out last week. Soupy played all around the ground in an outstanding team effort. Today we offer our condolences to Kay and Nathan for the passing of Kay’s brother Brent, who tragically passed away on the weekend. Today we wear black arm bands in his honour. We welcome Neerim South to our home today and look forward to a couple of solid hit outs. Benny Lucas Football club president
