25.01.2022 Our pecan orchard has held another beautiful wedding celebration. This time for our youngest daughter #farmweddding #knowyourfarmer #smallfarm #lifeonthefarm

25.01.2022 Rice planting is done for 2020! Our ace team Frank and son-in-laws Mac and Jesse planted both Jasmine long grain (Kyema)) and medium grain (Sherpa & Tachimanore) in two days. It took three tractors with different machinery working together; harrow, planter and roller. A fantastic effort! Flooding rain held up the planting for a couple of weeks then a window of dry paddocks appeared and off they went. New season Nimbin Valley rice expected in May/June 2021 ... #drylandrice #smallfarm #lifeonthefarm #realfarmers #realfood #eatlocal #localproduce #farmlife #knowyourfarmer #farmersmarkets #planting #plantingseeds

25.01.2022 Medium grain rice heads will fully emerge very soon ready for pollination. The panicles inside the stem bear rice spikelets which develop into grains.

24.01.2022 It’s easier to spot the different variety of pecan trees in early Spring. Cape Fear (left) are first to bud. Wichita, a later variety, are on the right.

24.01.2022 Find your pot of new season pecan gold on our stall at local farmer’s markets this morning at New Brighton Farmers Market.

21.01.2022 Pecan trees go dormant in winter. They need about 600 hours below six degrees celsius to rest. As Spring approaches and the days warm up, our trees will begin to awaken.

20.01.2022 Springtime! Buds are bursting as the pecan trees awaken

18.01.2022 One of our pecan orchards freshly mowed and ready for harvest in the coming weeks #marlivalefarm #australianpecans

16.01.2022 Our rice is ripening well with these beautiful sunny days #drylandrice #rainfed #knowyourfarmer #marlivalefarm

16.01.2022 Excited to offer a plastic free option for our farm fresh pecans at the farmers markets. We will weigh and load them into a paper bag, or bring your own container!

16.01.2022 Wilbur, our short haired collie/ blue heeler is a working farm dog who’s just turned one year. Flash back to his first beach summer holiday at Minnie Water

16.01.2022 ...then the bounty is off loaded into the field bin for transfer to the sorting shed.

14.01.2022 The rice stubble is baled and off to our farmers market friends: bangaloweggs as bedding for their free range chickens, singhtoflowers for mulch for their flower beds and mulch for localdorperlamb

08.01.2022 Unfortunately something is wrong with our page so we cannot post anymore or receive messages.

07.01.2022 Orphan calf, Portia, is 18 weeks old and thriving within the herd. Very happy outcome. We’ve been hand-feeding her every day and she’s now ready to be weaned. Wilbur is waiting to lick her face

06.01.2022 Step 3 - the pecans are picked up by the harvester ...

05.01.2022 Portia’s early morning feed. She’s 4 weeks old now and going well. Hangs out with the herd which is great as she’ll learn cow habits and the calves have become her mates

04.01.2022 Step 2 - After shaking the pecan trees, a sweeper creates windrows of nuts for the harvester to pick up.

01.01.2022 Finally our rice harvesting is on! We had a few false starts due to mechanical issues and weather, so it’s great to be harvesting So, one step closer to being available at the farmers’ market and local shops.
