25.01.2022 First Christmas art work of the season! We used marble painting on the card paper with glitter paints.
25.01.2022 Such fun at the Funky Farm today for our end of year celebration. They have a collection of Australian reptiles and marsupials. The children got to touch and feel them. They also fed the kangaroos and emus. It was a great way to end the year.
25.01.2022 My mum found my very first written recipe book when I was a child. First recipe we tried today was animal crackers. Still a yummy and healthy recipe after 30 years.
24.01.2022 Its been a cooking and baking day today. The children chose a sausage roll recipe last week. So I planned for it and bought the ingredients. It was also someones birthday celebration so we made cupcakes as well. They all had happy and full bellies.
23.01.2022 The chilly weather has inspired us to make fake snow for the penguins and other sea animal figurines.
23.01.2022 It has been such a busy and hectic week with Christmas activities galore, and secret gift making business.Weve been so blessed to have a special visitor at story time too. The children were so surprised and excited.

21.01.2022 It was a beautiful day to have our end of year celebration yesterday. Mornington Peninsula Shire FDC organised an African drumming session at the Mornington park pavilion. We all learnt how to use the drums, learned beats and songs. At the end we got to boogie down to the beat.. Afterwards we had a picnic lunch, icy poles and a play in the park.
20.01.2022 A great idea I found from teachpreschool on Instagram. After using contact paper for art activities using a see through medium, it is a great follow up to use cling wrap if you dont have a perspex board. Such concentration!
20.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all our fathers and special male figures and role models in our lives! I hope you have all had a great day and enjoy the gifts your children have been working on the past few weeks.
19.01.2022 Happy Resurrection Sunday!
18.01.2022 Today was such a beautiful day to ride the Mornington Heritage Diesel train. The children were very excited to be on the train, learning how trains were in yesteryears.
17.01.2022 This week we have been delving into ANZAC day commemorations. The children in my care are very young, so it is difficult to grasp what it all means. However, I found some very helpful videos on YouTube on stories about ANZAC. The ANZAC Ted story as well as Simpson and his Donkey are great stories to help explain ANZAC to young children, which were the childrens favourite. I hope as they grow they will really be able to be grateful for the sacrifices our ANZACs have made for our country. Lest we forget...
17.01.2022 Baskets done! And it looks like someone has visited last night. I can see shiny things in the garden!
15.01.2022 Yesterday we went on an excursion to the Briars in Mt Martha. We attended a special program called Superhero Adventures ran by Mornington Peninsula Council. The children dressed up in their favourite superhero costumes and got to learn about the native animals super powers from the ranger. She had different pictures of the animals that live there, stuffed animals and worms too. When she finished her talk, we got to act out the super powers in an obstacle course just like the animals. I provided a sausage sizzle lunch and to top everything off we had icy poles to cool off.
15.01.2022 Dinosaur ice dome and ice cube painting seemed appropriate for a day like today.
14.01.2022 Chalk obstacle course
14.01.2022 Brilliant day to try this edible slime recipe. We used Metamucil and water warmed in the microwave. Perfect slime for toddlers to try. We added a few tools to try with it as well.
14.01.2022 Even with the pouring rain, it was such a great day out at Cruden Farm for Party in the Park. It was a jungle animal dress up theme, so the first thing we did in the morning was make our animal masks. So much fun things to do amongst beautiful surroundings. Once the party was finished, we were able to explore a little around the beautiful gardens.
14.01.2022 From my family to yours...
12.01.2022 I hope all the fathers and special people enjoyed playing with the home made games the children have been working on the past few weeks. We have had to wait to post this because someone wasnt able to come in last week. But they were able to catch up this week and hopefully was able to surprise their dad and special person for an extended Fathers Day.
12.01.2022 Yesterday the children made their own lunch. They chose to make pizza! It was great science, maths and social learning experience. They also got to be creative with the shape of their dough and which toppings they chose to put on.
11.01.2022 There has been an interest in building rockets and talking about planets lately. The children have been building rocket ships with pillows in the living room and using their imaginations. Today we went one step further and made rocket ship art.
10.01.2022 Today we celebrated Harmony Day by visiting the library for story time. We listened to the story about Tidalik, a native Australian dream time story. We had special guests who spoke Portuguese. The librarian read the English version, and the guests retold the story in Portuguese with props and very candid actions. The children were all amused. They also did some familiar songs like Head Shoulders Knees and Toes in Portuguese as well. What a wonderful way of learning about another culture!
10.01.2022 We had a request to make rainbow play dough yesterday. It was a great opportunity to learn about colours and use technology to look up the rainbow song as our reference.
09.01.2022 Were learning number recognition with recycled materials today.
08.01.2022 What a brilliant day at Garden World! They have provided an interactive reptile show for the children these school holidays. There were snakes, frogs, spiders and stick insects to see, if you were brave enough you could even touch them. We had a wildlife discovery hunt and there were plenty of giveaways too.
08.01.2022 Lest we forget...
08.01.2022 Well done to all my families this year! We have managed to fill two hampers with all things useful and to bringing Christmas cheer to families of Heart Kids. Every year for Christmas we teach the children about giving, and they were really proud that we were able to fill the two hampers for these who have to stay in hospital during Christmas.
08.01.2022 I wish you all a very blessed Christmas from my family to yours I hope you enjoy your gifts, parents. The children have been working hard to create them.
07.01.2022 Weve had two beautiful warm dry days, a stark contrast to todays weather. Having a walk was the only option. A few of the children wanted to ride as well. We learned about road signs that help keep us safe. A picnic lunch under the shade of a tree was just what we needed to fill up our energy for more riding.
07.01.2022 Back to work last week and were already busy working hard on box construction. Amazing results what we can do with colourful tape and recyclables.
07.01.2022 This week we made edible paints so that the babies were able to join in with the art activities we do in our day care. Tasting the paints was not an issue because we used cornflour, water and food colouring.
06.01.2022 Earlier this week we commemorated Remembrance Day by making a lantern decorated with poppy blossoms. Lest we forget
05.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all our mothers! Hope you have enjoyed your day and the gifts your little ones made.
04.01.2022 So good to eat fruit and veggies we planted ourselves. What a reward!
04.01.2022 Ive set up a native animal interest area with finger puppets of native animals and a book on mammals. The children were able to recall what they had learnt from the superhero adventure excursion we went on at the Briars last week. The possums were able to glide and see in the dark. The emus could run fast. And the echidna has spikes to defend itself. They were going through the book with me eagerly learning more animal superpowers.
03.01.2022 I hope you have all enjoyed your Easter break. Im posting a few pictures of what Easter themed activities weve had last week, including our annual egg hunt. The children were overjoyed...!
02.01.2022 I hope all the father’s and special people enjoyed playing with the home made games the children have been working on the past few weeks.
