17.01.2022 An Aussie classic approved by a classic Nonna I’m so lucky to have shared moments in life with my Nonna but one of the most memorable would the time I gave Nonna one of our lamingtons. As she bit into it; I was waiting for the critique, as my Nonni have always pushed me to be better, but instead I was met with the following line che saporito! How tasty! Nonna loved switching between Italian and English, so she followed up by saying the sponge... it’s so soft! She love...d them and that made me the happiest person. This story has a sad ending; the Nonna, my Nonna passed away last night and although I won’t be able to share moments like these anymore, I am fortunate to have experienced life with Nonna. To a woman that raised me, helped me become an amazing person, and learn that food is so important, I would like to dedicate two days going forth the 16th and 17th of March each and every year to be known as Lamington Days. I’m sure we’ll come up with crazy, wild and fitting ways to serve lamingtons that will always be saporito In loving memory of Nonna, you’ll surely be missed by everyone but never forgotten.
