25.01.2022 THE A & B MUSCLES!! WHAT??? AB AND BUTT MUSCLES!!... Abdominals and glutes ... Why is it important that they are strong?? To make anything you do better!!! Do you have a sore lower back or get a sore lower back whenever you do gardening, pick something up, carry things, sit in a chair, drive?? You potentially have weak abdominal and glute muscles!! (Note .. that may not be the reason for everybody. It is very common but there may also be underlying problems. That's when you should see your medical professional). A lot of the time, sore lower back .. ab and butt muscles need strengthening!! This is where I can help!! I train one on one weight training and Pilates!! Pilates focuses on the core .. top abs, lower abs, side obliques (side abs), glutes and lower back (working the lower back in a good, positive way). Weight training, we strengthen everything!! As I only train one on one, I write all your sessions solely for you and your abilities!! And of course if you have a particular goal in mind, we will work towards that!! Strength takes time. There's no time limit on any one person as everyone is different!! That's why I don't do 8 week challenges and all that stuff. You may train for 8 weeks but still not reach your goal for any number of reasons, and that puts doubt in your mind, disappointment and the main reason a lot of people give up. Strength takes time, consistency (that's a big one), dedication and no crap excuses. (Obviously there are legitimate reasons why you might miss a session, but we all know the crap excuses). A perfect example of why core strength is important is my own example last weekend. I gardened for 5 and half hours on Saturday and 6 on Sunday .. was my body tired, yes. Did I ever once get a sore lower back, NO!!! There was cutting, pulling, throwing stuff .. NO SORE LOWER BACK!!!! 24.01.2022 THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION ABOUT PERSONAL TRAINING ... PT IS BOOTCAMP .. PT IS CARDIO .. PT IS RUNNING. A lot of the time it is and that's all some Personal Trainers will train but I want to give a shout out to all of you out there that may be putting off calling/messaging me about starting PT because you might think it's bootcamp, full on cardio until you throw up or running. ... With me ... IT'S NOT!!!! I train strength!! So whether that be weight/resistance training (barbells/plates/kettlebells, resistance bands), body weight training or Mat Pilates, that all depends on your individual self and what your goals/abilities/needs may be. The only time I train anything to do with cardio is if you are playing sport and need to improve in certain areas (and there are sooooo many excerises that will improve your cardio without running) or if that is actually what you want to do!! But will I make you run up and down Butler Drive ... god no!!!! If you want to run kilometres, you do that in your own time!! If you are a runner or run in your chosen sport, I will help you improve your strength and running technique to make those kilometres feel better/faster/stronger, but in our sessions I will not make you go out and run. I will never ever say that you won't ever get your heart rate up while doing strength training because that would be a lie!! If you lift heavy enough with beautiful technique so that you are challenged, your heart rate will go up!! But when that happens it's an amazing feeling because you are too busy thinking, holy crap, I just lifted that, rather than thinking, oh my god, I'm going to throw up because I've just sprinted 10 kilometers!! Depending on your needs and abilities, the warm up I do at the start of your session can get your heart rate up but I truly believe the body needs to be warmed up properly before starting any session so I won't lie, you may get your heart rate going straight up, but then it will be all good!! So I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions about Personal Training with me!! I've had a couple of people say "Oh, you're a PT so you must do bootcamp? I hate cardio". I definitely do not train you like that unless that is what you come to me to do!! 19.01.2022 ARE YOU TRAINING YOUR BUTT OFF BUT NOTHING IS CHANGING?? There could be many, many reasons for this but the biggest reason in my opinion .. not training correctly for what you are trying to achieve!! This is not your fault!! If you haven't been taught about different training for different goals, how are you meant to know!!... This is where a PERSONAL TRAINER can make all the difference!! I myself am a perfect example of this!! Moons ago I decided I was going to start going to the gym and get my body stronger so every day tasks were made easier. So what did I do .. join the gym and spend countless hours every week doing cardio excerises. Don't get me wrong, cardio has it's place but if your main goal is to build strength, not so much. Nothing was changing. I wasn't getting stronger. I was spending hours each week trying, trying, trying. I was getting cardio fit, but not getting stronger. I then decided to get myself a Personal Trainer!! This lady introduced me to weight training and Mat Pilates!! I HAVE NEVER LOOKED BACK!!!! She educated me about different training for different goals and taught me heaps of stuff I had no idea about!! She is the reason I became a Personal Trainer!! (She knows who she is!!) I can teach you all these wonderful things that you probably don't know about and help you build strength to make your body work better for you for every day living!! Or stronger for your chosen sport or whatever your goal may be!! LADIES ... before it even crosses your mind .. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BULK UP!!! Unless you have an unusual amount of testosterone in your body, you won't bulk up!!!! 16.01.2022 GROUP MAT PILATES IS BACK FROM MONDAY JUNE 22nd!!! My group mat Pilates classes can resume from tomorrow, Monday June 22nd!! The government have a restriction on group classes that means I can have only up to 10 people per class. We must social distance which is not going to be a drama as the Gordon Hall has such a big space to work in!! ... While this restriction is in place, I unfortunately won't be taking on new Pilates clients as I want to stay loyal to my current Pilates clients and let them come back first. If you are interested in starting Pilates though, please contact me and let me know because I will keep your details and call you as soon as I can have more numbers!! Or if I know in plenty of advanced that whichever class/es you want to attend is not full, I will certainly call you as well!! I am asking that everyone please bring their own mat, so if you are wanting to start down the track, please be prepared!! I get my mats from Kmart, $7.50!!!! Group Pilates classes are $15.00 per person per class and you pay as you go. I don't do bulk passes and I don't work within the school terms. Pilates runs through the school holidays!! In saying that, children under 18 years are not allowed to attend. I like to keep things simple!! I am however, taking on new one on one Personal Training or Pilates clients. I do train Pilates one on one but it is not at the group classes pricing!!! 12.01.2022 SANITISING & CLEANLINESS ... I just want to put everyone's mind at ease that I sanitise and clean my equipment and mats in my shed gym for one one one Personal Training and also my mats that I keep aside for my group Pilates classes. Anyone that trains with me will not have ever seen me do this however, and that is because I do it. I don't make you do it. Why?? Because it's part of my client service to you!! I am not a big commercial gym, so after you leave, I clean the ...equipment and mats!! I will have extra Glen 20 and wipes if anyone feels they would like a little extra protection. No offence will be taken!!!! For group Pilates, you are most welcome to bring your own mat along if you wish. Again, absolutely no offence will be taken!! Anyone that knows me knows I'm a clean freak, but in this time, everyone has the right to do what they think is best for their own health and those around them!! If you are thinking about starting one on one PT, one on one Pilates or joining my group classes, please don't hesitate to give me a call!! 12.01.2022 nineteen76 fitness and personal training One on one Personal Training in KURANDA, FN QLD!! I'm Justine and have just moved to Kuranda!! I'm a one on one Personal Trainer, have converted my shed into a gym and am now ready to start training you!!... I will train anyone who is over 18 (I don't work with minors) and who wants to get stronger, fitter, faster ... whatever it is you want to work towards and achieve!! Having a goal is great but if you don't, and a lot of people don't, that's ok, please call anyway and we can chat and see what we can come up with!! Not having a specific goal is no reason not to get strong!! I mainly train strength (and no ladies .. you WON'T bulk up .. unless you have an unusual amount of testosterone in your body!!!!) but I will write each and every session to your needs!! I'm not a "one size fits all" kind of trainer!! Every single client gets trained to their own abilities!! Another words, I train you for YOU!! I do also train Mat Pilates one on one. 08.01.2022 ARE YOU STARTING YOUR SPORT SOON FOR 2021?? Footy, netball, soccer, to name a few ... Or maybe pre season has already started!! Do you want to be fitter, stronger, faster, more powerful, more explosive??... Do you know what you need to do?? STRENGTH TRAINING!! Yep, strength training!! For example, if you want to be faster, will doing squillions of laps around the oval get you to be faster?? It could help but getting your muscles stronger and working more efficiently will definitely get you going faster!! And you can spend less time doing lap after lap after lap!! Working efficiently is key!! Efficiency, not unnecessary hours wasted. And you if build strength for your sport, you will also be building strength for every day activities which can only be a bonus!! 07.01.2022 TRAINING AT HOME WITH THE KID!!!! When you can't go to your gym to train with your own trainer (yes, I have a trainer too!!) and you have to train at home!! Kids hey!!! 02.01.2022 PT AND GROUP PILATES THIS WEEK ... At this stage, tomorrow and Tuesday, 23rd and 24th, I will be working as normal. After that for 2 weeks, HOPEFULLY ONLY 2 weeks, is not looking good. I'm sure things will be made clearer very soon. As soon as I know more I will share.... But all one on one PT sessions are going ahead tomorrow and Tuesday and my group Pilates class tomorrow morning at 9.15am is running!! There is no-one more gutted than me about this potential forced closure. I have such loyal clients and I am finally beginning to be able to help more of you improve your lives and achieve strength and fitness goals!! And many, many different goals there are!!! I know whatever happens in the next couple of weeks, all my current clients will be back and I will certainly be welcoming anyone who wants to start PT or group Pilates. I will definitely be sanitising all equipment, mats and surfaces, as usual, which I do anyway, but I say it again for peace of mind. If you want to bring your own mat or extra towels to cover mats, please do!! As soon as I know more of what is to happen after Tuesday, I will share. Please see that I do have plenty of space in my shed for one on one PT. And, it is only one on one. There's noone in the background doing their own thing. That's one reason people do train with me!! 01.01.2022 ONE ON ONE MAT PILATES IN KURANDA!! KURANDA & SURROUNDS ... Are group classes not your thing? Weight training not your thing?... Have you thought about giving mat Pilates a go for strength training?!!! Pilates targets the top abdominals, bottom abdominals, side obliques (side abs), lower back and glutes (butt muscles). The "Powerhouse" to our bodies!! Excerises are slow and controlled (which some people find boring until they discover their muscles are getting stronger and how good it feels!!) with a breathing technique that I will teach you. The breathing helps with blood flow, keeping your core engaged and making your muscles work harder!! And fellas .. PILATES IS NOT JUST FOR GIRLS!! There are so so many benefits for doing Pilates. Stronger ab, back and glute muscles, improved posture, potential stronger performance for sport, less pain (especially lower back pain) doing many different daily activities, the list goes on and on!! (With any pain or undiagnosed problems, of course see your medical professional). For mat Pilates, all you need is a mat!! Depending on each person's individual needs (I train each and every one of you to your own needs and abilities. No "one size fits all" rubbish here) we may use some of the equipment in the second photo, or we may use none of that at all!!
