17.02.2022 The World Heritage listed #NingalooReef will become home to some friendly whale sharks as they seek the warmer waters from March! Tours operate from #CoralBay ...and #Exmouth - the only places in Australia where you can swim with these gentle giants of the ocean. Get booking in your tours for this season here: https://bit.ly/3rmQk6O Image: @samlawrencephoto VD: a whale shark swimming alongside a bait ball of fish.

14.02.2022 It’s coming to that time of the year again! Whale shark season is fast approaching on the Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia. I’ve teamed up to work with Coral B...ay Ecotours for the season to photograph these giants. At the moment I’m on the other side of the world but I’m hoping I’ll be able to travel back for the beginning of the season. It’s a tricky time as Western Australia’s borders are still closed. Fingers crossed I can make it back for the season #WhaleShark #ningalooreef #UnderwaterPhotography

25.01.2022 "Stop telling me to smile... I am smiling!" When you're exploring Ningaloo Reef at Australia's Coral Coast, you'll find plenty of opportunities to capture pics ...of the friendly locals. Running as it does along the coast, visitors can walk straight off the beach to snorkel over superb coral gardens teeming with colourful fish, turtles, and manta rays, all year round and mere metres from the shore! Many of the best snorkel spots are just a short distance from Exmouth or Coral Bay and are free to access. At this time of year, you can also join a guided swim with whale sharks - the biggest fish in the ocean! 20.01.2022 Ningaloo reef is the only coral reef fringing the west coast of any continent. In the first year of our monitoring partnership, we tagged 60 animals in a project to better monitor this wonder. More info: https://blog.csiro.au/happy-anniversary-ningaloo-project-t/

19.01.2022 A visitor that has blown through in abundance the last few weeks on the Ningaloo Reef - the Red Bell Jelly Fish or Crambione mastigophora. I...f you pay close attention to these jelly fish out in the water, you may see a juvenile fish hiding behind them for protection (look closely at this photo!). The two seem to form a temporary symbiotic relationship. See more

08.01.2022 Check out one of our new wings! Thanks to everyone who flew with us this year!! We had an epic season and we now have three new wings ready for you next year! Total gratitude

08.01.2022 There’s been some very hungry whale sharks out there this week! A huge group of whale sharks and manta rays have been having a feast on big balls of krill. We don’t see these events very often but when we do it's always on the overcast days.

08.01.2022 New prints! So for the last week, I’ve been out of the water due to an ankle injury (playing soccer). It was a bit of a set back as I was enjoying swimming wi...th the whale sharks recently, but it has given me plenty of time to add some new images to my print store. www.alexkyddphoto.com/prints Feel free to check them out and share

04.01.2022 Another day, another pygmy blue whale! We were very fortunate to find this one swimming quite close in and the crews from 3 Islands Whale Shark Dive and Ningaloo Discovery got to get up close on the water. You can appreciate the size of these huge whales in comparison to the boat.
