20.01.2022 Message to all on the Dojo resumption plan. We have been able to arrange a new training location for the resumption of senior (18yrs and Above) Goju Ryu Karatedo classes and Nihon Jujitsu classes that complies with the potential ongoing COVID-19 safety requirements for January 2021. I have relocated a majority of our training equipment, mats, weapons etc to the new location in preparation for resumption. Junior Judo classes have resumed at the Upper Ross PCYC under their acti...vity safety requirement with numbers limited at this stage and it is good to see the kids back on the floor training. Kendo classes have resumed at a new location in Flinders street. Please note with the relocation to a new facility , we have renewed our club association and in line with the rules and regulations members will be required to have and maintain a current membership profile and monthly training fees that are seperate from those associated with training at the PCYC. These costs will be uploaded on our website in the coming days. Hombu news, I have spoken with Kancho in Japan. He and his members are well and have also resumed training. Plans are underway for when international travel is permitted for Japan Sensei to visit Townsville again and teach Japanese Budo again. This include are are good friend in AikiSambo, Kenji San. I look forward to seeing returning and new members back on the dojo floor in early 2021. See more

20.01.2022 For those members that have access to viewing NHK World on pay TV, they are showing a great review of Okinawan Karate on Japanese Plus, and how it fits into everyday life. As with our school of Karatedo, Okinawan Goju Ryu, a majority of traditional Okinawan Karate schools are not relient on sporting achievements, its a life long activity that provides those practicing an opportunity to learn something new everyday knowing that ones ultimate aim of Okinawan karate is to win without fighting. i would recommend members watch the program sometime over the next few days. regards Seibukan Admin

18.01.2022 Classes will also be resuming in Toyama Ryu Iaido in February. Beginners welcome to try out. Classes suitable for 18 years and over and due to safety requirements, numbers are limited.

17.01.2022 Update for the next All Japan Budo Federation (Budosai) Kyoto Japan Dear Nippon Seibukan Family and friends I Hope you are all doing well during this current period. ... 16.01.2022 In trying to maintain some traditions from Japan,,,,, below is a photo of our old HQ dojo sign in Kyoto from 1989 and our sign here in Townsville 2019

13.01.2022 Students of the Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate-Do invite people interested in learning Karate to join them and Sensei at the Dojo. Training has resumed for senior members with Juniors resuming late January.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to all the new junior Nihon Jujitsu students training at our Upper Ross PCYC dojo in Townsville. The students where under the watchful eyes of their instructors, sensei Adrian and Sempai Gabrielle. All have successfully passed their first level, earning their white belts (6 kyu grade). Well done, keep up the good work Sensei Creedy

06.01.2022 A question was asked about HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?. As the training of Junior Judo classes, Goju Ryu Karatedo classes, Nihon Jujitsu classes and Kendo classes are done as an activity for the PCYC open to all members of the Townsville community all training fees are managed by the Upper Ross PCYC. The first lesson is complementary however after that you are expected to pay for yearly membership and nightly fees as per PCYC guideline. You will also need to organise the purcha...se is suitable training uniforms and or equipment. If at a later date members may wish to affiliate with national sporting bodies to compete at their events (Judo, Kendo & Karate) and these costs are additional to those of the PCYC. For those wishing to Join the international Nippon Seibukan Organisation or European Jujitsu union through Australia, you can ask for either an affiliate membership (available to all individual Budoka from other Dojo looking to participate at our yearly club events and activities) or full membership (for those training full time with the dojo). We are alway happy for individual Budoka outside of our Dojo to join in with our Seminars. This year Townsville will host instructors from Japan in Goju Ryu Karatedo, Kobudo, Iaido, jujitsu and Aikido. We also have another Training trip in Japan planned for September. These is also opportunities to visit Europe (UK, Austria and Switzerland) to attend Seminars and training.

04.01.2022 2019 is underway and we invite people interested in learning a Japanese Martial art in Townsville to visit and try a class. Our aim is to provide students with the opportunity to not only learn a traditional Japanese Martial art but also an opportunity to experience the Japanese lifestyle and culture when we visit Japan to train each year. The Dojo has operated in Townsville, under Sensei, for over 30 years providing providing personal skills and experiences to many past and ...present students, from 5 years to 75 years, not often found in other activities. Or focus is not on learning Martial arts as a sport, we focus on building personal skills and experiences through self paced body movement and conditioning techniques. Training techniques suitable to the beginner, both the younger persons in the community and those much older. The only thing stopping you from the Budo (martial arts) experience is you. You can visit the Dojo by yourself, or bring along a friend or partner to try a class, we will be happy to see you. See more

04.01.2022 All students and friends of Nippon Seibukan Dojo in Australia It is with a sad heart that I wish to inform all of the passing of one of my teachers and a significant figure in our Dojo development and history here in Australia. On Tuesday 18th July, Hanshi Allan Tattersall passed away in England... Born in 1934, Tattersall Sensei started his Martial Arts in the 60's, studying Jujitsu, aikido, Iaido and karate. Tattersall trained with many European masters, affiliating and eventually becoming European vise- president of the International Jujitsu Federation and European Jujitsu Union under Vernon Bell, branch representative of Nippon Seibukan in Japan under Masafumi Suzuki Kancho. Tattersall Sensei later established his own United Kingdom Jujitsu Association based in Rochdale England, later branching out around the Globe. Often visiting Japan for Training where he studied both Koryu Jujutsu (Takenouchi Ryu) and Koryu Iaido (Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu). Tattersall Sensei became the head of the Dai Nippon Butokukai in the United Kingdom eventually being inducted into the DNBK hall of fame and received 9th Dan in Jujitsu At the suggestion of Japan I made contact with Tattersall Sensei in 1994 to organise training opportunities within the IJJF and EJJU. In 1995 I invited Sensei to my dojo in Townsville to conduct training and Seminars for the students in Jujitsu, Iaido and Aikido. This arrangement continued with two more visit in 1996 and 1998 with a visit of Townsville students to his Dojo in England in 1997. I had the honour of receiving my third and later fourth Dan in UKJJA Juko-Ryu Jujitsu grading certification from Tattersall Sensei as well as my second and later third Dan certification in Muso jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido. When visiting Townsville, I had the great pleasure of Tattersall Sensei staying at my home and in doing so I had the opportunity of a number of candid and private moments of conversation with him discussing many and varied topics about martial arts, it's past and it's future. These moments, and the numerous lessons both on and off the dojo floor, and out on mats in my back yard, will always be treasured by me, both as his student, and through lessons I now pass on to my students in the future. Tattersall Sensei will be sadly missed by those who knew and respected him here in Australia and around the world. May you Rest In Peace Sensei Michael Creedy Kyoshi, Nippon Seibukan Dojo Australia

04.01.2022 Classes have resumed in Kendo both in the Townsville City centre and at the upper Ross PCYC. Beginners invited to try out the way of the sword.

03.01.2022 18 March 2020 Townsville Hombu Dojo All Karate, Judo and Jujitsu club members and associates,... In response to the recent health issues, a review of our club and the National sporting risk registers and after consultation with various officials and the advice from Queensland Health I no longer feel it is possible for members to continue to train safely at this time. The nature of the constant close-contact in martial arts makes it a high risk activity for possible infection. If we cannot guarantee that we can protect members of the club from COVID-19 infection, we cannot justify continuing to train at this time. To be very clear, we are aware there is now confirmed cases in Townsville and at this stage we are not prepared to risk exposing you, your family members and friends on our training floor. Other factors we've considered include; the high rates of asymptomatic carriers in 8-30 year olds among the 275,000 + random tests conducted in overseas and Australia; the recommendation for social distancing (impossible in a sport like Judo, Jujitsu, Karate and Martial arts in general) and the composition of our Club and their family members. The suspension of state competitions, seminars and courses, This decision is incredibly hard to make as we - Club coaches and instructors - love practicing martial arts and we want to enjoy it with everyone. I will continue to monitor the situation. At this stage we expect to return to training after ANZAC Day Wednesday 29th April however the moment we are sure it is safe to return to training, we will do so and we hope you come back to train with us. I have been in contact with Headquarters in Japan, informing them of our current situation. Thankfully senior Sensei and other members in Japan are all well with their classes also being assessed as more information is being received. At this stage our mid year training seminar in Townsville, overseen by visiting Senior Japanese Sensei, is postponed until it is safe for them to travel, and for students to attend. I am awaiting more information regarding the status of the Budo Seminars and Festival in Kyoto in September as well. During this unique period in world history, I wish everyone here in Australia, and our friends and dojo around the world, the best of health, that all comply with the health and safety direction being asked of us and look forward to when the resumption of our lives can return back to normal,,, if we can call it that. I encourage all to take the time to continue training in their own homes and locations when possible, if you need any assistance or guidance on what you can and or should do contact your Sensei or drop me a line and assistance will be provided. If you have any questions about this decision, please feel free to call or text myself Yours in Budo, Michael Creedy JP (Qual) Australian Chief Instructor (Kyoshi) All Japan Budo Federation NIPPON SEIBUKAN AUSTRALIA

01.01.2022 For those interested in hard contact karate training as practiced in Japan watch for future advertising of seminars in Zenkoren Koskiki Karatedo in Townsville in 2020. A Great learning tool especially for younger Karatedo to safely practise more controlled and focused karate techniques.
