15.01.2022 This is for all you tech heads. Recently, our friends at CP-Carrillo posted some information regarding their philosophy behind the use of ring dowels versus pin dowels. The standard way we fasten our rods is the same way as Carrillo do for their own. At all times, when fitment permits, they note that the ring dowel is the preferred method to enhance the fastening. However, pin dowels (which are a cheaper, less effective method) are used on applications with very small cylinde...r bores due to the fact that the preferred design cannot fit within the confines of the bore. Thus, we find that we prefer the ring dowel over the primitive, cheaper pin dowel design due to the significantly greater reliability it provides. Even Jim from Nitto remembers building engines with the pin dowels in the 90s. 12.01.2022 Drag Extreme RB32 kit As many of you may have heard by now, we have released an alternate variation of the Nitto RB32 kit. We have endeavoured to create multiple kits to suit various applications, from moderate power daily drivers, all the way through to purpose built drag weapons. And now we have our newest addition, which is our top shelf RB32 kit, designed to hold in excess of 3000hp. The kit has been designed to be compatible with existing RB30 Billet Aluminium Blocks a...nd includes a variety of new features. Changes to Crankshaft include: 1. Billet EN40B Material. 2. Revised Oil Gallery design. Straight Shot Oiling system with increased diameter from 5mm to 6mm. 3. Wider Big End Journals on the Crankshaft to accommodate the new WIDE NITTO/ ACL Race Series Big End Bearings. Crankshaft can fit up to 22mm wide bearings and can be modified to use a Torrington needle roller bearing thrust washer. 4. Bearing width has been increased from 17mm to 20.50mm (approximately + 20%) while still retaining the 50mm Crankshaft Journal Diameter. (Not 48mm as per 2JZ/ Honda bearings modification). Bearings are available with CALICO Coating. 5. Increased material around the Crankshaft throws improves strength and rigidity for increased bearing life.
