13.01.2022 Our Awsm day out together Team Niue Netball Qld.
10.01.2022 Challenge of the Nations 2019 wrap up. A massive congratulations to all our players who represented Niue over the last 2 weekends. It was a huge 2 days of netball and everyone played extremely well, even with the heat on day 1 reaching 37 degrees at one point! Our Niue Open Mixed team are the champions in Social mixed beating Fiji in the finals 10-9! ... Half time score was 8-2 to Fiji and our superstars dug deep to win by 1 goal! Was a great game to watch and congratulations team. Both our open ladies team made it through to the semi finals after securing 2nd and 4th places after the round games. Team Moana played Cook Islands but went down to the eventual winners of the ladies competitive division. Team Akau had a nail biting semi final losing to Maori after going into extra time! A massive achievement getting this far from team Niue. Our masters ladies played 9 games over the 2 weekends with limited players. Due to injury and sickness our ladies were down to only 6 players on day 1 and 5 players on day 2. All 6 players gave it 100% in every game and still had energy to support our other Niue teams in between their games. Well done Niue masters, you played amazing! Our young 13s and 16s played over 14 games each over the 2 weekends. 13s played in the competitive division, first time ever for Niue 13s, finishing 9th. The girls played amazing every game missing out on a win for most games by just 1 goal. Another massive achievement from these young ladies as more than half the team were bottom age (10/11years old). A huge thank you to Racheal and Aku for taking on the coach and managers role this year, training the girls leading up to nations and looking after them game days. 16s played in the development division playing 14 games with only 7 players each weekend! They played for each other and supported each other in every game coming away with a few wins and a few losses by 1 goal! Again a massive achievement playing with no subs. Huge thank you to Ken for looking after the girls over the last 2 weekends and stepping into the coaches role the night before competition. Thank you everyone for playing your best, having fun and wearing our colours with pride! To the parents/husbands/wives and families of our players thank you for your unconditional support. Last but not least I would like to thank the NNQ committee for supporting our players, providing shade/fruit, keeping players hydrated with ice cold water and everything in between. Will see most of you at our presentation on Saturday and everyone back next year.
