21.01.2022 7 days to go until the release of my album River City. I’ve just uploaded my track ‘Eggboi’ to Youtube which can be streamed for free https://youtu.be/xuDjGTbamPA... The track is inspired by the egging of Fraser Anning due to his response to the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings. Eggboi is a jazz tribute to a not so peaceful protest that led to almost $100,000 being donated to the victims of that attack. https://www.abc.net.au//egg-boy-will-connolly-don/11159370 #illridewithyou #eggboi #eggboy #auspol #endindefinitedetention #saxophone #jazz #australianjazz #jazzaustralia #ausjazz #improvisation Image courtesy of www.instagram.com/sebi.white

18.01.2022 With 9 days to go until the release of my debut album here's some info on the production team that made it happen. Leon Zervos (Mastering Engineer) In a career spanning over three decades, Leon Zervos has mastered releases totalling over 100 million in sales including numerous multi-platinum Grammy and Aria award-winning projects. Leon relocated to New York in the early ’90s where he worked as a senior engineer at renowned mastering houses Sterling Sound and Masterdisk. Retur...ning to Australia in 2009, Leon re-joined the Studios 301 team as Senior Mastering Engineer. Growing up in a musical household, Leon has an uncanny sensitivity and vision in the projects he masters, working across a large range of genres including rock, pop, hip hop, soul, electronic, latin, jazz, blues and orchestral. Mark Smith (Mixing Engineer) Mark's skills and interests in music are wide and varied covering genres as diverse as classical, rock, folk and jazz. Recognised as one of Australia’s most distinguished sound engineers Mark has spent close to thirty years as a sound technician and engineer. In 1996 he founded ‘Real Productions’ a mobile sound business specialising in acoustic based music, which to date has recorded in excess of 200 commercial albums. Notable highlights for Mark include recording the 2011 Australian Bell Award ‘Best Jazz Vocal’ winner, "Elly Hoyt" By Australian jazz vocalist Elly Hoyt’s; continuing his residency as the Brisbane jazz clubs in-house audio expert for over 15 years; recording, mixing and mastering 2 albums for Cuban musician Marialy Pacheco, Marialy won Best Solo Piano Artist at the The 2012 Montreux Jazz Festival. Marly Lüske (Recording Engineer) Celebrating 21 years in business Alchemix has been a fixture within the Brisbane music scene having recorded notable acts such as Josh Homme, Paua, Toby Wren Trio. Owner and chief engineer Marly Lüske has a strong understanding of the musicians perspective within the recording environment with himself having completed a Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. From his assorted collection of vintage gear, to his hands on ability to produce professional level sound recordings, Marly's experience and strong understanding of audio helps to make Alchemix one of the premier choices for recording in Brisbane. #music #improvisation #musician #brisbane #queensland #qldmusic #album #jazzmusic #jazzmusician #rivercity #ausmusic #australian #ausjazz #jazzaustralia #jazzsaxophone #jazz

On top of that it's my first time playing at the BJC. I've also been inspired recently by albums like John Coltrane's "Coltrane's Sound" and Jim Hall and Bill Evan's "Undercurrent", so be sure to expect a few of those tracks in each set. Joining me for the night will be:... Benjamin van Jole - Piano James Visentin - Bass Katie Randall - Drums See more
