25.01.2022 With some restrictions easing and the committee deciding to host the presentations outside, we are very happy to invite you to presentations. We will have gazebos and plenty of chairs set up and with the awards spaced out we will easily be able to accomodate more than 1 person supporting the children collecting their awards. Make sure you have a hat and bring some water. The canteen will NOT be opening. I can’t wait to see our Leopards finally be acknowledged for their efforts through 2020.

24.01.2022 Sorry everyone, I’ve been busy with the family. Last Bledisloe cup game tonight. Pick your scores for the chance to win $50 off next season. Same rules as last 3 games. I’ll go first Aus 24 NZ 17.

22.01.2022 Trophies and photos are on their way and we would love to see as many of our little all the way through to our big Leopards come and receive acknowledgement for what has been a very difficult 2020 season. Keep the 21st of November free and more specific details will follow shortly. We do know it will be at Woodside and will be 1 team at a time and COVID safety will need to be adhered to. Please share amongst your team pages.

19.01.2022 We have all recently said farewell to 2020, it has been a rough year on everyone for many different reasons mostly as a result of a global pandemic. As I sit back and reflect on 2020 from a Rugby at North Lakes perspective, there is a lot of positives that I am looking forward to building on in 2021. Along with our long term sponsors Aquavac (Dave and Bruce)and Bank of Queensland North Lakes, we have welcomed new sponsors PRP Physiotherapy, Northern Suburbs Fencing and Powder...coating, Realway Property Consultants, Sparc Electrical, Totally Work Wear, North Lakes Bathrooms (Ian), Passion Family Dental and Apogee Trophies (Russell). I encourage everyone to follow our sponsors social media pages and support them in any way possible. I hope you like the design for our 2021 training T-shirts. I am looking forward to touching base with the 2021 committee, in particular our ne members Craig (secretary), Shelley (General Committee) and self proclaimed club legend Jonny Vitaliano (general committee). Over the next few weeks we aim to disperse as much information as possible. We have spent a bit of time with our families and are ready to to answer any questions you may have. Please either add a comment to this post or send it via a private message and we will get back to you ASAP. We wish you all the very best for a successful 2021, we can’t wait to see our #leopardsfamily

19.01.2022 One of our Under 10, 7’s teams and coach Jonny Vitaliano. Thank you to all our parents, players and volunteers for representing the Leopards.

19.01.2022 What a fantastic achievement by our U/11 7’s team, undefeated for the entire competition. Congratulations boys and a very big thank you to their coach and senior men’s player Rauahi Jobe (John) and team manager Tessa Pakau, for volunteering your time. If you have a good team photo of your 7’s team let me know and I’ll post it.

18.01.2022 Congratulations Harry! Recognised as North Lakes Leopards very first 10 year player

15.01.2022 That’s a wrap for the 2020 season, the Leopards senior men’s team played their second and final 7’s competition. Congratulations and thank you for braving the heat to represent our club. The fields at Woodside are now closed until the 17th of January.

13.01.2022 The final whistle has been blown on the 2020 season. I’m very humbled to be the president of such an amazing club. It was a truely amazing celebration today and it was so good to see the kids (big and little) with their mates celebrating a very successful season of rugby. A big thank you to all of our coaches, managers, sideline officials, referees and of course the parents. Our main sponsors Bruce Wyllie and Dave (Sheryl Hussey) from Aquavac thank you does not do justice for the pivotal role that you play in providing a platform for the North Lakes community and surrounds to play rugby. Congratulations to all of our players, I look forward to seeing you all in 2021. #leopardsfamily

08.01.2022 Morning Everyone, The photo's have arrived, trophies get delivered today and our 5 year leopard caps will be delivered today as well. We will also be celebrating our first player to reach 10 years as a Leopard. It would be fantastic if your little Leopard could wear their training t to the presentation. The presentations will be held at the Northern end of Woodside, on the grassy area behind the childcare centre. Can you arrive 15 minutes before your players allocated presen...tation time, to ensure that we remain on time it would be greatly appreciated. When you arrive please meet in the club house and your coach/manager will bring the team down to the presentation. Any parent that wishes to stay with the Leopard is also more than welcome to. All of the junior players will receive a participation trophy and a framed team photo. The photos will be given to the team manager for them to distribute after the presentation. There is also some extra awards as selected by the teams coach. 0830 - Under 6's 0900 - Junior Girls 0930 - Under 7's 1000 - Under 8 Purple 1030 - Under 8 White 1100 - Under 8 Blue 1130 - Under 9 Purple 1200 - AGM 1:30 - Under 9 Blue 2:00 - Under 10 2:45 - Under 12 3:30 - Under 15 4:15 - Senior Women 5:00 Senior Men The cricket club we share Woodside with have games on all day and I encourage anyone who lives close enough to walk as parking may be challenging. Kind regards Gary Von Dohren President

08.01.2022 As is the usual tradition for the Leopards, the 2020 AGM will be held at 12 midday on the same day as the presentations the 21st of November. There will be COVID restrictions and a safety plan in place. The positions that will be vacated are Vice President, Secretary and a general committee member position. If you would like more information on these vacant volunteer positions please email me at [email protected]

Kind regards Gary Von Dohren

06.01.2022 North Lakes Leopards would like to thank North Lakes Bathrooms for coming onboard as sponsor for 2021.

04.01.2022 Another undefeated 7’s team was our U/9 team coached by Lauren Wayne Botha, awesome effort!! While it’s fantastic to see teams getting these results, all of our Leopards teams are just as important as each other. If you’ve got any team photos or action shots from the 7’s summer series message them through to me and I’ll post them. Congratulations U/9’s and again thank you to all involved in the organising the team.

03.01.2022 And for the juniors. UPDATE | The Brisbane Junior Rugby Union welcomes the announcement by the Queensland Government on Sunday 31st May, regarding Stage 2 Easing of Restrictions being brought forward. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR OUR CLUBS... At this stage, the BJRU & QRU are working with all Clubs to ensure we have an approved Covid Safety plan for our sport. The plan, if approved, will facilitate up to 3 x groups of 20 participants conducting non-contact rugby training per field. Below is a list of some of key tasks (but not limited to) your Clubs will be working through which takes time, involves hard costs and are essential to the Covid Safety plan : Appointing a Covid Safety Coordinator Develop training & game day management plans specific to your club Ordering and installing signage Implementing increased sanitisation measures Increasing communication & awareness regarding hygiene and social distancing CAN WE START TRAINING TODAY? No. The Queensland Rugby Union as our State Sporting Organisation will advise our office when non-contact rugby training can go ahead for Stage 2. WHAT CAN GENERAL MEMBERS DO? Our clubs need your support. Reach out to your Club Committee to ask how you can help your Clubs tackle the Covidsafe health checklists. We understand everyone is keen to get back to training as soon as possible, however, we all have a responsibility to ensure we minimise the risk of Covid infection and transmission within our community, and ensure our clubs are in the best position to respond effectively should a positive case arise.
