25.01.2022 *LORRAINE IRELAND SHIELD PREMIERS* Laurimar CC 4/77 def Epping Pingettes 5/76cc Player of the Match - Kyra Rule ... Congratulations to the Laurimar Cricket Club on their first ever Lorraine Ireland Shield. An incredible display of skill, camaraderie, love of the game and competition was displayed by both teams, as Laurimar capped off a fantastic season full of individual and team achievements with a win in the big dance! The Pingettes have shown exceptional dedication to their development, featuring in their second grand final in a row (moving up a division this season!) and we look forward to seeing their team continue to evolve :) Both teams were supported by huge crowds and we were delighted once again to welcome Lorraine Ireland's family to assist in the presentation of her shield - she would have been thrilled with another brilliant morning of Women's Cricket. Congratulations to both teams on a wonderful season!

15.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we honour the passing of NMCA Life Member and Women’s Cricket pioneer, Lorraine Ireland. Lorraine brought a quiet determination and grace to her time as an administrator with the NMCA Board. For the majority of her board life, she was the only female in the room and on the board, overseeing a competition that was predominantly male. Throughout this time, she led with integrity, understanding and friendship paving the way for further female in...volvement at board level, and eventually the NMCA Women’s Competition. Cricket was not Lorraine’s first love, her long and revolutionary involvement with Women’s Softball predated her time in the NMCA, a sport in which she was equally well known and respected. Once cricket was lucky enough to pinch Lorraine from softball, she was a Club President, a committee member, a board member, and a member of council groups including the Darebin Women in Sport Network. Lorraine was always available for a chat, to bounce ideas off, to listen and to support women and girls working towards grasping new opportunities, creating new pathways and finding new ways to expand female sporting involvement. She never sought the limelight or to be out the front speaking to groups of players, her preference was quiet, continued and consistent encouragement and support behind the scenes, it will be missed more that she will ever know. Players and NMCA members alike would recall that Lorraine was a fixture at our Women’s T10 Tournaments, throughout the rounds and on Grand Final days, where she would find a nice shady spot to sit and enjoy conversation with various NMCA members whilst supporting players from all clubs. Over the past six years, she would join us on Grand Final days to support the multitude of women playing cricket, award her shield and medals and witness the joy this competition and her work brought to so many. After awarding a shield twice a season for so long, Lorraine had the handing out and untangling of Premiership medals down to a fine art! A Life Member, a pioneer of female involvement and opportunity and a paragon of grace, kindness and determination; it was a privilege for each of us to know, learn from, witness and enjoy the company of Lorraine throughout her time in the NMCA. Our love and deepest condolences to Bobby, Trish and the Ireland Family. Lorraine was a gem of the NMCA, and cricket will not be the same without her. Vale Lorraine <3

13.01.2022 The 2019/2020 Summer Season Grand Finals are Here! Will it be fourth time lucky for Holy Trinity Blue, as they take on the current threepeat Premiers - the Clifton Hillers? Can the Lalor Warriors be successful in their first ever Grand Final Appearance? Or will Holy Trinity White claim the spoils of victory? ... Join us on Sunday at Barling Reserve for another sensational morning of cricket!

12.01.2022 *LENORE SMITH SHIELD PREMIERS* Fairfield 106 def Olympic Fillies 10/65 Player of the Match: Kelly Burchfield ... An incredible return to the Grand Final arena for Olympic Fillies & Fairfield after a five and four year hiatus - and what a game it was! After a season where every week brought new achievements for players across all four teams in this division, it all came down to this. There were double wicket overs, boundaries, incredible catching and momentum swings all morning before Fairfield's bowlers demonstrated their finesse, securing the Lenore Smith Shield. Olympic Fillies have continued to develop and achieve this season under the guidance of their coach Emily Bannon, and their team spirit and connection is evident both on and off the field! The Fairfield team join the Premiers list this season, after welcoming a new coach Marc and several new players, developing an already dedicated team into a team of premiership winners! Congratulations to both teams and clubs on an incredible season where they seized every opportunity to play and enjoy the game they love <3
