22.01.2022 Families with kids on bikes being turned away by the layers and layers of temporary fencing designed to keep residents off of their favourite cycling track. An absolute disgrace!

21.01.2022 A heartfelt thank you to Noble Park locals who took this photograph then sent it to us, eg: removing a velodrome will never remove our dreams Noble Park Dandenong Cycling Club Inc. is taking shape and we want to hear from you. 21.01.2022 Fencing off Maurice Kirby Velodrome along Dunblane Road has started. Here's a message for everyone involved with these deplorable actions at City of Greater Dandenong - especially the three Paperbark Ward councillors - consequences have actions. You have treated Noble Park residents and our long proud history with nothing but contempt. Eileen and Maurie Kirby were kind and generous people who gave so much to our suburb and Victoria. Your petty actions will never remove their... much loved legacy and our respect for them from our hearts <3 Dan Andrews Jaala Pulford MP Gabrielle Williams MP Martin Pakula David Davis MP Adem Somyurek MP The Age Dandenong Journal First Friends of Dandenong Creek Greater Dandenong Leader Cr. 20.01.2022 A message to all of our friends and supporters: *** For any of our supporters that are interested, we will have a final get together on Sunday 24 March at the velodrome,10am til mid afternoon. Possible thunderstorm in the evening, although thunderstorms and rain has never stopped us before! *** It has been nine, long and arduous months of campaigning to retain the historic Maurice Kirby Velodrome from destruction at hands of the City of Greater Dandenong. Never before has our... community rose to an injustice fraught with the knowledge the community will never be listened to but, despite this injustice we all took up the challenge against the City of Greater Dandenong and fought until the very end. In the process we were fortunate enough to rediscover and retell the humble story of a Noble Park and Melbourne identity, that was Maurice Kirby and his passion for not only cycling and sports but also his ability to bring issues to the forefront of public discussion. http://nobleparkdandenong.cc/maurice-kirby/ As this campaign draws to a close, we thank each and every one of you for persisting against the bias that was glaringly obvious to anyone that took notice. All those long emails and phone calls to council and our elected ‘representatives’, your attendance at council meetings were not for nothing. Out of this we have reformed the old Noble Park Dandenong Cycling Club Inc. and we will continue to carry on Maurice Kirby’s legacy. Join the club: http://nobleparkdandenong.cc/membership/ We thank each and every one of you again for fighting so incredibly hard to save the Maurice Kirby velodrome. The Noble Park community has spoken and the fight for justice will have no expiration date!

18.01.2022 Thank you to Maria Sampey and Councillor Matthew Kirwan, City of Greater Dandenong Council for their continued strong support for cycling facilities in South East Melbourne. "Cr Kirwan, in support of the study, said the point of the strategy was to collect the data from a South-East regional view. It could lead to a different result altogether on participation rates.... He said a collaborative approach with other councils was likely to receive State support. The State Government had identified cycling as a high priority across Victoria, Cr Kirwan said. He later told Star Journal that he supported Cr Maria Sampey’s idea of Greaves Reserve as a possible regional venue. Given it’s so close to EastLink, Monash Freeway, Dandenong railway station and bus hub, and the Djerring and EastLink bike trails, it would be a central and accessible location. It would be an ideal one we could consider. Cycling Victoria Noble Park and surrounds Noble Park Dandenong Cycling Club Inc. 14.01.2022 Changing gears .... after demolishing our historic Maurice Kirby Velodrome in Noble Park last week, Mayor Roz Blades shows she's had a change of heart by making her own mango smoothy via Bike n Blend. Guess everyone at Greater Dandy's had a harsh week, getting outed by both 10 News First Melbourne and Triple M's Hot Breakfast with Eddie McGuire over Springvale Districts FNC innovative super box. Yeah we'd need a smoothy too after that

13.01.2022 A hastily put together message from the City of Greater Dandenong to the Noble Park community: 'Your much loved velodrome will be demolished by us at the end of this month. Don't mind the months of noise, dust, mud and trucks, that's a minor inconvenience as we aim to destroy and replace the Maurice Kirby Velodrome as quickly as we can for the 2.5m shared path, which the community never asked for. Oh and don't mind the heritage listed tree, that's going nowhere. We've been ...working hard with National Trust of Australia (Victoria) and an exclusion zone less than 2 metres away from the Eucalyptus Camaldulensis is fine with them.' http://www.trusttrees.org.au//Parkfield_Reserve_Dunblane_R

13.01.2022 Local cycling history with additional information from Zola: "This photo was taken at a race held at the St Patrick's Day Sports on Saturday March 24th 1956 at the old Dandenong Show Grounds, Clow Street, Dandenong which adjoined the market. The track was a sand trotting track around the oval. It was a 2 mile handicap race which Tom won from scratch, with John Jackson second, sorry he cant remember the name of third. The photo is taken at the finishing line"

09.01.2022 ooopppps..... "Environment Protection Authority Victoria requested the hiring of an environmental hygienist to inspect the mounds in Spring Valley, just behind temples on Springvale Road, Greater Dandenong Council’s engineering director Paul Kearsley told a council meeting on 10 February. The small quantity of asbestos was believed to come from unauthorised dumping as well as council-sourced fill materials from Parkfield Reserve’s former bike track base and Tatterson Park, Mr Kearsley said."

07.01.2022 Meanwhile in Springvale, local Aussie Rules club showing initiative gets slammed by City of Greater Dandenong. Sounds like it took CGD over a year to cotton on, then ban Springvale Districts FNC corporate box when other means of negotiating the situation probably existed ..... doesn't that sound familiar? . . .... Greater Dandenong Leader "A suburban football club’s humble corporate box has been banned by a local council. Springvale Districts turned the shipping container into a small room for match-day functions last season, raising thousands of dollars. With glass doors giving a grand view of games at the Newcomen Rd ground, a TV screening football and horse racing, and food and drink being served, groups of supporters were happy to pay good money to use the box. The club was pleased it had come up with a popular and novel fundraiser. But the City of Greater Dandenong has told Springvale Districts it can no longer use the room, apparently because the club had no permit for it. There was an immediate outcry from players and supporters when the Demons posted a statement about the issue on social media." https://www.heraldsun.com.au//acea538954c674f2f35a96ec977e
