14.01.2022 This story in The Herald Sun shares the results of a parenting survey we ran recently. The mostly female respondents confirmed something many women already know - that most of us generally feel like crap mothers compared to others! - and that social media fuels this 'compare-and-despair' mindset. But it also revealed some surprises. A majority of people think kindness is the most valuable trait our children can possess, and we mostly don't consider managing our children's scr...een time to be as big a problem as the media would have us believe. Western Australia has the most confident parents and Queensland the least confident, while single parents were more likely to live in South Australia than any other state or territory. The survey was held to mark the first anniversary of ParentTV, the 'Netflix of parenting resources', which was started by Aussie entrepreneur-slash-whirlwind Samantha Jockel aka the creator of the huge School Mum community. If you are one of the 48.5% of Australian parents saying they struggle to find good, evidence-based parenting advice, struggle no more - check out parenttv.com.
