25.01.2022 I tried to write something inspiring today but everything sounded so predictable and vomiteeee. So here I am. Happy New Year people. Thank you for making 2018 the year to follow me. Every single one of you matter (all 450 of you). I follow a lot of big players and I have to be honest, seeing 10000 people like and comment on a crappy quote about loving yourself makes me want to throw in the Instagram towel. Are these real followers? Real people? Or are they bought? I looked into buying some friends this year and then thought no damnit, I want real friends. Friends who love my stuff and have my back. So here I am, wishing 450 people the best year of their lives. Lets toast to honesty even if you look a bit lame (and youre in bed at 8:22pm with a toddler and 2 Chihuahuas named Tooki + Kumo) #rockon

18.01.2022 Were taught from a young age that to achieve great things, we have to consistently set specific and actionable goals. But what about the process, systems and habits we follow to reach them? When did the finish line have so much more to do with failure than our course of action or journey to the top? The days are rolling by and were lost in the end result. Tomorrow, take note. Watch your every move and you will discover exactly where your shortfalls breed. Youll shed light on the setbacks that monopolise your business and personal achievements and help you overcome those disheartening near wins.
17.01.2022 I WANT TO BE A VOICEOVER ARTIST The first step on this journey of you versus mic is (weirdly) trekking inward and discovering who you are. Its owning the joy you get from certain experiences, delving into your personality traits, regardless of age, and using your values to discover what it is that you love doing (with ZERO judgement). Who are you when no one is watching and what is it that youre doing when the clock stops and the universe is yours? You have to know who you ...are before you can convince others to invest in you. WHY WE GOING SO DEEP? 1. When you voice commercials, especially those that require warmth, empathy and soul, you will feel exposed. Sometimes weird, especially during a directed session when there are 10 people on a conference call, waiting to hear you let your guard down and make a masterpiece out of their treasured branding material. Content theyve spent millions of dollars on and a whole lotta passion. No pressure right? Youll feel vulnerable, awkward and just downright uncomfortable. These are the reads clients want you to show up to with authenticity and purpose. If youre unsure of who you are and where you sit in the industry, not only will they pick up on it, but youll let their creative purpose down and worse, your own. Youll walk away thinking Im not cut out for this, and thats a waste because you are. You just havent met yourself yet. 2. The main reason for this inward journey is nailing your niche. You cant voice everything for everyone. Be someone and make it count. What is it youre really good at? What feels right? There are so many different styles and categories that fall under voiceover artist and your first job is to work out where you fit. When you do, things will flow and clients will call you back. "When I first started voicing, I was represented by an agency who cast me for a Red Rooster commercial. I was booked into a big, state of the art studio but when I arrived, I was uncomfortable in my own skin and terrified of failure. I was cast for the commercial with a girl named Summer. She was tall, beautiful and voicing for just about every market in Australia. She came, she voiced, she conquered. And then she left with her hair flowing in the wind (even though we were inside). I floundered because all I could do was compare myself. I put more effort into sounding like Summer than I did reading my own lines. Epic fail. THAT experience is an exact example of entering the industry prematurely. Its a thing and it happens and first impressions last so dont do it." ~ Bec Start thinking about the style of reads that best reflect your inner epic-ness. Listen to the radio, TV, podcasts ANYTHING. Ask yourself the million-dollar (and sometimes awkward) question...WHO AM I?
17.01.2022 "Basecamp was so insightful business-wise and the skills-based training with Deanna just made the idea of a voiceover career for me, so much more accessible. Keep teaching. Your knowledge and experience need to be shared!" ~ Jacqui Maloney Thank you to all the students who took part in the Noise + Colour Basecamp Media Workshop at Magic Studios in Perth. A brilliant day and great to see some of the up and coming talent this side of Oz. If you have a passion for voiceovers, c...ommercial radio and/or podcasting and you need guidance on running your own business, learn from award-winning industry professionals and put your best foot forward in these dynamic and competitive industries. 16.01.2022 MOTIVATION IS OVERRATED (ENVIRONMENT OFTEN MATTERS MORE)! Environment is the invisible hand that shapes human behaviour. Despite our unique personalities, certain behaviours tend to arise again and again under certain environmental conditions. In church, people tend to whisper. On a dark street, people act wary and guarded. In this way, the most common form of change is not internal, but external: we are changed by the world around us. Every habit is context dependent (Atomic Habits). What space are you walking into every day and how does it support or benefit your personal and business life? Today, take in the space around you and the contents and layout of each room. Youll discover all the cues to both positive and negative habits, giving you the opportunity to literally change your life.

14.01.2022 Pronouncing names for the Australian Hair Fashion Awards is always a challenge but ... worth it. Congratulations to all the amazing artists on another great year
11.01.2022 The days are closing in on 2018, and as the year fades (along with all the forgettable one-hit wonders), were forced to reflect on our achievements, our downfalls and the events that have redefined us forever. What now? The all-consuming desire for change. Resolutions come to the forefront of our consciousness, and were determined (for real this time) to improve ourselves through the guidance, advice and inspiration of others. Through the people well meet, the experiences ...well view differently, the words well speak, the foods well avoid, the clothes well buy (and never wear), the hairstyles well trial, the books well definitely finish, the opportunities well jump at and the dreams well be blessed enough to realise are not even ours. Its been a huge year for me. My lesson? To see the magic in my mistakes and the fortune in my failures. Always growing, always learning. My downfalls are a direct result of my achievements and my determination. This year, every new subscriber and every new voiceover job has been a powerful reminder that despite the hard days, the weeks and months when I feel like Im getting nowhere, I am on track and I am doing this. I am fulfilling my purpose. To you guys, thank you for joining our tribe and for giving me a damn good reason to keep putting everything I am and have into this project. Let the New Year be yours but let it also belong to the great unknown. Be comfortable in the uncertainty that comes with pursuing your purpose here. Let go of all expectation and let it teach you through passion and vulnerability. The career listings are in. 2019 is your year! Bec x https://mailchi.mp/9a90a374/career-listings-november-418333

08.01.2022 YIN + YANDLES Routine rituals for life hackers + habit hustlers Meditation. Ive had a love/hate relationship with it most of my adult life. Im prone to severe frustration when I cant see results or measured progress. If I cant walk in, conquer with little or no effort and resurface an Olympic Gold Medalist, Im a cloud of fart particles on a lazy arvo breeze....Continue reading
07.01.2022 I woke New Years Day after 9 hours sleep, looked out my bedroom window and thought what have I missed? Then I thought, am I glad I missed what I think Ive missed or for once, am I relieved to feel like a warrior or the sole survivor of a cataclysmic event? Hard to say but when I woke, I was engulfed by complete stillness. No wind, no people, no cars, no hangover and the reality of a brand new shiny year. At 5am, I got on the treadmill and thought about 2019. My year, your ...year, our year. How can we make it better? For me, 2019 is not about affirmations, writing my dreams down for the 6 millionth time or spiritual guidance thats so open-ended, theres no accountability for progress or evidence of a shift in almighty consciousness. You know when youre promised an epiphany but walk away thinking was that experience so monumental, Ive lost all sense of time or has the clock on the microwave just gone again? (I swear I set that thing every day). Ive learnt that if I have to ask myself that question, chances are Im still at the starting line with Tom, Dick and Harry only they finished the race 9 years ago, and now theyre watching me burn rubber like Kathy Freeman on the spot after 2 knee reconstructions. Not pretty. Theyre thinking wasnt this crazy bitch here last year? And theres always some trippy guru on the sideline rocking his Good Sammy get up and getting an immense amount of pleasure out of assuring me that if Im not FEELING IT, Im sabotaging my right to a universal connection with Uranus. Best business model ever. Is it time we owned up to what doesnt work for us? Like yoga. I hate yoga. I love the idea of it, love watching the best in action, love subscribing to yoga channels and expensive apps and I love wearing my yoga pants to bed but I hate yoga. You have no idea how hard that is to honour (and say out loud or put in writing). 2018 was year of the downward dog and the pressure to be moved by it was overwhelming. This year people, you have to FEEL everything you let into your life. If it doesnt move you...move on. You have to KNOW that what youre contributing precious time to, will ultimately deliver measurable results. Thats how were WIRED! Its the key to change, improvement and even a REAL LIFE spiritual shift that comes about when we finally see what we are capable of. If not, there is no incentive for consistency and consistency is the key to your wildest dreams. This year, I want results. Body, mind and performance optimisation. I am a practical person and I love results. Who doesnt? Small daily hacks that achieved consistently, fuel an avalanche of awesomeness. Getting the MAX out of this temple and using what Ive been born with to serve and benefit me in every aspect of my life. Come with me! Bec x See more

06.01.2022 NEXT YEAR, MAKE YOUR BED Merry Christmas! Remember the quote if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed? William Harry McRaven said it and its the first (and seemingly insignificant) habit Ive ever introduced that is still with me today. Im hooked and the benefits are FAR more magnificent than the act itself (theyd wanna be right)? Whats even more remarkable is the fact Im now done in under 4 minutes. Outstanding. If my husband decides to sleep in,... I make a coffee and sit on the sidelines. I wait for him to stir and BOOM...Im in. Sounds slightly obsessive (Ill wear that) but for me, its THE cue to begin my day. Cues are everything. SCIENCE has uncovered the fact that CUES are the trigger for habit formation (and ultimately success). And once Ive left the room and moved on to bigger things, I cant go back. Strangely, I cant seem to move forward either. Im left with this underlying even unconscious notion that Ive got unfinished business elsewhere. And Im absolutely aware that come bed time, Ill have to face the mess I left there this morning. Yuk. One accomplishment leads to another and another and another. It brings me mental clarity, makes me feel in control, calm, centred and free. Even proud. And climbing into a made bed at the end of a day is heaven. Its also a reminder that I have made a small contribution toward a bigger, better version of myself. If youre struggling, then cheat. Tim Ferris uses the sweep it under the rug approach. He doesnt tuck in the sheets but uses a large blanket to cover the lot. Whatever works. My mother always said Rebecca, your room is a direct reflection of your state of mind. Ive never forgotten that and its been true, every step of the way. If Im trying to ignore where my lifes at, my bedroom puts on a damn good show. Even if youre staying somewhere, make your bed. Even if youve got nothing on today, make your bed. If you want to reinvent the wheel, set new benchmarks and completely change your life, make your bloody bed. This is where it all starts people (and ends). See more

03.01.2022 NO MORE ROUTINE? The biggest challenge beyond school is freedom. Yep, its a beautiful thing, but if you dont have a healthy respect for it, itll slip through your sweaty palms like stardust. If you refuse to take ownership of your life and value the time youve been given, youll wake up in your mid 40s with three kids, a huge mortgage, a dog that gets no attention and a degree in unhappiness. Youll be hating on the world for stealing your identity, making you tired, str...essed, belonging to everyone but yourself and outrageously overcommitted to a calendar full of social events you dont even want to attend with people who irritate you. Newsflash! Its your life. For 10 or more years, were on someone elses watch. Were graded, assessed, told what to submit, what to wear and where to be when. And if we dont come to the party? Well, theres consequences. STRUCTURE is not to be confused with unglorified pursuits, algebra, long-winded essays or the study of rocks (unless you want it to be). Structure is merely a foundation. A launching pad or safety net to keep you grounded, in control and consistently WINNING. Youre on track, kicking goals and everythings going to plan. Out of nowhere, a storm hits (a challenge). When the weather clears, youre miles from home. Surrounded by bushland, no sign of the track, no compass, no water not even snapchat. No idea how snapchat works but Im assuming its something youd need in an emergency. Routine and schedule provide an inner compass for life. They bring clarity, calm, direction and security to an otherwise tumultuous ride. Theyre the launching pad for your dreams, an anchor to hold onto when the seas get rough and a fail-proof system to keep you focused and on point. Lifes full of surprises and distractions. You cant escape that. But imagine if you had a fortress in place that could protect you from the storm? An internal compass to guide you back to your roots. Having nothing to hold everything together is a guaranteed one-way ticket to no mans land on a bike without a seat. Remember, everything you commit to beyond a quest for survival...is choice. That can be hard to swallow sometimes. See more
