24.01.2022 There are some controversial statements in this blog, but the debate it raises is interesting. Do some rescue groups make it too hard for 'good enough' homes to adopt a pet? Where will adopters who are rejected by rescue groups ultimately go to get a pet? What messages are we giving people about rescue and no kill if we make it too hard for people to adopt?

24.01.2022 Stonnington is a progressive Victorian Council who contract their pound services to a Save A Dogs Scheme. It's great to see them supporting the great work of their local No Kill shelter in such a meaningful way. Ticket's are still available at $140.

24.01.2022 Manatee County’s policy, adopted last month, intends to phase out euthanasia and progressively increase the pet live release rate from 61 percent to above 90 percent sometime next year. Only terminally ill, injured and suffering pets as well as vicious dogs will continue to be euthanized.

21.01.2022 Communities across the U.S. are coming together to call for their Councils to implement the No Kill Equation in order to cut the killing in their area. The media are taking notice. Please help us spread the word in Australia so that soon stories like this will be on our televisions too!

21.01.2022 And so it begins ... Victoria's breed specific legislation is lazy policy that will not make people or animals safer.

20.01.2022 The No Kill Equation itself is simple. Implementing it involves time, effort and dedicated people committed to saving lives.

18.01.2022 Check out this interesting blog from the US. This shelter has implemented a simple appointment system for people wishing to surrender their pets. By talking to owners, providing other options and asking for their help, the staff have found that many do the right thing and begin to help their pets by not leaving them at a shelter.

18.01.2022 Victorians take to the streets calling for the Government to stop killing their dogs.

17.01.2022 Detroit is to get it's first No Kill shelter thanks to a generous donor.

16.01.2022 If, like me, you use an e-book reader such as an Amazon Kindle, Nathan Winograd's 'Redemption' is available to download. Check this book out, if you haven't had a chance. Winograd explores the myth of pet overpopulation, and the idea that if shelter managers change the way their facilities are run, No Kill is achievable. I was surprised to find this as an e-book, so I thought I'd share!

16.01.2022 For those in Melbourne who work in rescue...

15.01.2022 The resignation of a Shelter Director signifies another opportunity for No Kill advocates to help bring in best practices to save lives.

15.01.2022 While we like to stay positive here there will be some amongst us who don't yet realise that PETA oppose No Kill. The truth seems to be in their own kill rates. http://www.nathanwinograd.com/?p=5374

14.01.2022 More progress in the U.S. with a Bill to ban the killing of animals that rescue groups are willing to take and rehome.

13.01.2022 Hugh Wirth says Victoria's breed bans are the wrong approach to reducing dog bites.

09.01.2022 Some opponents of No Kill spread the lie that it means rehoming dangerous dogs. This just shows how desperate they are and how much it threatens their high kill model of sheltering.

08.01.2022 http://goodfordogs.org/blog/2011/10/13/no-kill-primer/ Be sure to check out the No Kill Primer for a broad introduction to No Kill.

08.01.2022 This book will change your life (and convince you that saving many more is possible). $15 delivered. Do it.

08.01.2022 In his latest blog, Nathan Winograd discusses the importance of speaking out publicly against the abuse, neglect and killing of animals in pounds and shelters. How will things change unless we make waves? How will we end the killing? How will we stop the abuse unless we expose it?

02.01.2022 As awareness grows that we can do more to save cats and dogs, ordinary people are finding new ways to help. What opportunities are out there just waiting for you to notice them?
