20.01.2022 During Youth Week this year, we had the fantastic opportunity to host years 6 & 7 from Newbery Park Public School in Millicent. They were an absolutely fantastic school and great bunch of youth! #youthpower #bluelightsainc

18.01.2022 Noorla Yo-Long hosted a Year 8 class from Mount Gambier High School today where they completed our ground activities and high ropes courses. Some eagle eyed students spotted this well camouflaged bearded dragon, as well as finding some rock scorpions and an orb weaver spider. More photos of our wonderful wildlife to follow!

15.01.2022 Mr McBride, thank you from Noorla Yo-Long for the great post. As a not for profit organisation we really appreciate all of the support in the community for the work we do.

14.01.2022 Hi all, Like everyone we at Noorla Yo Long are bunkering down too. We are closed for the moment and really look forward to re-opening when all this COVID-19 business is sorted. Please stay safe and listen to what the Health people and the Government are telling us. ... Check out the photo of the climbing wall we have been working on with the MCLC crew - a special shout out to the Cops for Kids program and Lions clubs. Still a work-in-progress, but it’s going to be a great addition to our fantastic facility when it’s all finished.

14.01.2022 This week has been a very special week for Noorla Yo-Long. We have had a group of young people from our indigenous community attend for the Treasuring Life Program which is designed around suicide prevention in young people. Combined with our livings skills/crime prevention programs forms a fantastic basis and support network for our youth. #noorlayolong #supportouryouth #crimeprevention

13.01.2022 Some great footage from The SE Voice.

13.01.2022 So today was absolutely amazing. Noorla Yo-Long had some visitors from from the Cave Exploration Group of SA (CEGSA) along with Superintendant Grant Moyle (Officer in Charge of the Limestone Coast LSA). Our mission today was to explore and map some cave extensions that had previously not been completed. Some tight squeezing and tenderizing was definitely on the cards! We would like to thank Fred, Kevin, Patrick and Blane for your information and expertise today. Also, thanks to the Borderwatch for attending and taking some amazing photos! If anyone is interested in adventure caving and assisting with mapping some cave systems on the Limestone Coast, please get in contact with CEGSA at www.cegsa.org.au

12.01.2022 Thank you to MacDonald Park School and The Border Watch for the great write up, a great day where we really enjoyed having the students and staff out with us!

11.01.2022 Our friends from Millicent Police Station let me borrow their car for a few promotional pictures! So we let Carol borrow our wall! Someone else declined the offer to climb, he will remain nameless...

10.01.2022 A big community minded thank you goes to Bob Amezdroz of Comphort Technical Services. Bob is a highly qualified arborist, horticulturist and trainer in the world of all things trees normally located at Mt Compass, he also completes a lot of specialist work here in the Lower South East. He has donated his time, (and that of his wonderful wife!), to inspect and prepare a detailed report on our radiata pines, ensuring we comply with WHS requirements to continue keeping you all ...safe when you visit our high ropes courses. We now have 35 specifically recorded trees within our plantation, numbered and identified for easier maintenance in the future.

10.01.2022 Beautiful day for some Surfing Lessons! This week we have had Adelaide High School attending NY-L and what a great bunch of youth they are. Adelaide HS should be very proud! #youthpower #bluelightsa #sapolice #adelaidehs

08.01.2022 Despite the very average weather today we managed to have a great morning with Liberty Church Lutheran Youth Group. We saw some really good team work and individual determination to achieve personal goals as well. Good work all round!

08.01.2022 We had some great collaboration today between SAPOL and the youth of Millicent. Superintendent Phil Hoff and Inspector Campbell Hill of the Limestone Coast LSA attended and spent some time with our Flexible Learning Options Youth. This group are assisting us with generating a Long-Term Strategic Plan for Noorla Yo-Long as part of their Community Studies Course at the MCLC. They all had a ball as you can see! Haha!

06.01.2022 We haven’t forgotten you! 05.01.2022 You may have seen that Noorla Yo-Long hosted the South Australia Police Dog Operations Unit training camp over the last couple of weeks. We were able to offer the section the use of our bunk house accommodation, ablution and cooking facilities to support their need to complete dog and handler training on our 20+ acre site and out and about in the local community. A big thank you to them for also taking the time to support our local schools including Rendelsham and Beachport Primary’s with visits and also to Sarah and Brian for a trip over to do a presentation for the 612SQN Australian Air Force Cadets at the Mt Gambier airport.

05.01.2022 Busy week coming up with school groups on site every day! We are looking forward to meeting all the students and staff and pushing their comfort zones to help them learn about themselves and their class mates and to see what they are capable of! ‘It’s not the mountain that we conquer, but ourselves.’ - Sir Edmund Hillary KG ONZ KBE

05.01.2022 Friday 1st November saw St Martins Lutheran College year 9 students attend the facility where they enjoyed both high ropes and ground activities with SAPOL members and Blue Light staff. A great time was had by all.

04.01.2022 Goodbye old friend! We’ve had lots of good times with you! But fortunately for you it’s time for an upgrade. Get ready for The Maze 2.0 #refresh #upgradetime

04.01.2022 We have been very busy building the bones of our State-of-the-art rock climbing facility. The wall, painting and holds will all be placed and constructed by the MCLC FLO construction team. Keep watching this space for more updates! #youth #rockclimbing #supporttheyoung #bluelightsainc

04.01.2022 Hello everyone, Noorla Yo-Long was looking wonderful this morning in the mist and sunshine, great work by our team, Alex, Blane and Lynette in keeping the site looking so good!

04.01.2022 A final and very appreciated thank you to all of the sponsors, suppliers and helpers who have committed time, money or their expertise to help us complete our climbing wall. A superb new element to our site at Noorla Yo-Long enabling us to continue working, in all of our wonderful weather, towards our goals of community youth relations and crime reduction. Without the partnerships from the community NYL would not be able to achieve what it does. Thank you to our distinguished... guests for giving their time to support our event and the promotion of the work that we do, Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott for agreeing to be our Guest of Honour and running the gauntlet of whether the unveiling of the sponsors board would work as planned! Thanks also to Nick McBride MP, Troy Bell MP, and local Mayors Des Noll OAM, Lynette Martin OAM, Alison Nunan, Erica Vickery and Richard Sage for your continued support. Special thanks goes to Vareity SA, Cops for Kids, Lions branches at Naracoorte, Lucindale and Millicent, Mt Gambier Lakes Rotary and especially all those Variety Bash fund raisers, magnificent people all of you! Our build partners were the Construction Pathway students from Millicent Community Learning College led by Brett Loader, master builder Neil and Gemma Winterborn. Tonkin Engineering for the design and Joe Pratt Welding for the amazing sub frame, that you can really see very little of. Our suppliers have come from mostly local companies including: Millicent Banner Mitre 10 Sharp Cranes Multi Metals Gas Weld Millicent Industrial Services GT Industrial Sales 3MP Steel Supplies Rise Holds Scout Shop Reef2Ridge Summit Walls (specialist climbing mat suppliers) Also a significant financial contribution to the cause was made by Melissa at the Shearer’s Cook Cafe and Fosters Foodland by providing the fantastic lunch, thank you all so much for making our opening day go so well! Please feel free to drop by and support these great community minded people and companies! Finally, thank you to the students from Newbery Park and St. Anthony’s Primary Schools for agreeing to come and be our inaugural climbers! We hope you enjoyed the event and look forward to seeing you with all of your class mates at NYL very soon! And not forgetting my staff, helpers and a whole list of unnamed others, Blane Combarngo , Alex van Heeswyk, Lynette Valente, Leon Miels, Bruce Clayson, well done and thank you!
